what's your wrist size?

I'm at 6" so still kinda in the dilemma whether or not to get a tuna as I still haven't get the chance to try on one on my wrist yet

still in the hunt for a smaller wearable size dive watch to add into the collection

my wrist is also rougly around 6 inci laugh.gif but its flat wrist so the watch stays ontop. I think it be suck if you have round bulat wrist laugh.gif

my version of sbbn have fixed non-removable link. so i have to remove the max i can and use the diver extension to fine tune. newer version can remove all the links

Surely it is much more wearable than MM300 laugh.gif

MM300 is not for the fainthearted mini wrist size us

imo humans with 7" only can pull that beast off nicely otherwise looks like a giant clock on the wrist laugh.gif

Got poisoned by this Arita Porcelain Presage SPB 093 and 095. Any idea when these 2 watches will land in Malaysia?
Any chance that we can order via local AD or Boutique?

SRPD63K1 retails for rm1155 but online shopee / lazada is around rm900-950

if you can wait till more stocks are available in the market I believe the price will drop till rm850 smile.gif

K1 is usually made in malaysia / singapore

J1 is made in Japan but so far the newer releases of 5s are mostly K series

is the same quality in both K and J so shouldn't make much difference where the watch was manufactured

The Made in Japan version carries a different model number.

SRPD63K1 equivalent will be SBSA013.

I was actually surprise to see this available on ebay as this model was released in 2012 for quite a short period of time therefore had to grab it into my collection

I was even more surprised when I saw the serial code on the case which has a unique number of 3O0003 biggrin.gif

for the most part you cannot over-wind modern watches

depending on the watchmaker's skill / experience and available tools for servicing

best to consult a professional watchmakers first or contact thong sia to get confirmation on the model you intend to get

but usually for mechanical timepieces servicing is not a big problem unless you say have broken parts need replacement then different story

PM me. I can refer you to a watchmaker that got experience with Seiko watches.
He himself also a Seiko collector. He collects all sort of Seikos from vintage till today's model.

Hi seiko lover, I've been watch watching/hunting for quite some times now and my hand are itchy for mechanical watch tongue.gif. Thinking on gettting involve with this hobby and wanted to start with something cheap first before indulging with the real of elitist. Thinking of getting Seiko 5kx as my first mechanical watch, any shop/online shopper that offer good price on that piece?

Just join Seiko Diver Malaysia in FB. Plenty of trusted seller in the group. Please apply anti-vaccine as the poison are very strong there.

It really depends on which site you purchase that watch from.

I could recommend:
- seiyajapan.com
- shoppinginjapan.net

As they have a good selection of those mid-range and JDM Seikos.

I don't think our local watchmakers have those parts actually (if have, please correct me).
Perhaps, you could buy online and get it assembled by our watchmaker here.

Try: https://www.dagazwatch.com/

They have those bezels and dials for SKX mods.

my p20pro always struggle to get a nice sharp shot on the dial face :|

usually after zooming in the camera will be real shaky on normal outdoor light condition

otherwise it will do longer exposure shoot to over sharpen it artificially doh.gif

The size didn't help, plus SARB033 looked much better.

nice piece but the original straps looks a little bit long on you

you could buy a cheap silicon strap from shopee/lazada for about rm10-15 and use back the original buckle and keeper from seiko

otherwise barton watch strap would be a better choice as they have short silicon strap for mini wrist like us laugh.gif

very nice piece on your wrist

I have a couple of SARXs 005 007 and 041.. the bracelet is a real step up from the sarb035 series and feels premium on the wrist

Thought so. I understand it all. Even at 17+ cm, I cannot wear anything above 46 mm. in lug length.

However, curve lugs are different.

This person has 15.5 cm. Maybe can wear this due to the curve nature of the lugs. Not seiko though biggrin.gif

yes exactly curved and straight lugs makes a whole lot difference

that's why the sarb033/035 is fit perfectly for many small wrist humans like us with the combination of 38mm + curve lugs to get that round look of hugging on the wrist biggrin.gif

I've tried on the samurai too fits nicely on 6" but it is quite tall and squarish makes it feel bulky

the turtle case round shape doesn't feel right for me too

end of the day after few years of collecting still not a single seiko diver in my collection but 8 seikos in total of sarx and sarb series doh.gif

I prefer the non tuna mm300 such as SLA023, but they cost a bomb. If I’m still single I would buy them in a heartbeat. Sold my Swiss watches and started my seiko journey. No disrespect to all the Japanese watches tho.

silicon more comfortable and more suitable to pair with dive pieces

nato will also thicken the already thick dive case which is a no no for me laugh.gif

rclxms.gif still looks great eventho i've seen it thousand times.
regarding am pm, yes it have. to make it easier, you can just keep moving the minutes hand until u see the date move to the next date - thats ur 12am
its much easier to adjust that way, including during 30/31 days adjustment nod.gif

for the strap, you may look for Perlon strap type, more sturdy to support the weight and comfortable~

enjoy ur watch notworthy.gif
i keep it on the bedside and enjoy the lume before sleep tongue.gif

iirc, the 4r15 movement will have 1-2 hours date delay during change of date 12am.
as long it change between 11pm - 1am, i guess u set it correctly.

i still remember 7s26 movement date change from 11pm - 2am fully change to next date doh.gif

I see, and the manual there says

• Do not set the date between 9:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. If you do so, the date
may not change properly / it may cause a malfunction.

Do not set the date between 9 pm to 1 am, means the actual time or current clock time? and what kind of malfunction? and how do you know the watch got malfunction? Because I realised that the date of my watch turned 14th today

im not sure if its myth or depends on the watch compatibility, most people wont recommend to change date between 10pm - 4am to prevent the gear changing the date from damage/less accurate.
depends on the watch tolerance, movement etc - changing the date during this period may affect date changeover accuracy. anyhow if you want to service the watch - you may refer to previous thread, the name pop's up many time but i cant recall his name hmm.gif

perhaps other's can help you on the looking for contact person to service your watch. or if your watch still under warranty, just claim for new watch nod.gif

modern watches will not over wind

I just wind them till I feel it is enough.. usually you will feel a tension or diff sound when it is fully wound up

iirc automatic watch have escape mechanism so it will not be overwind, but manual wind watch have its limits which u will feel its stiff and cannot wind anymore brows.gif

yeap that's true that manual wind movements the feeling is more significant on the stiffness compared to automatics

but I somehow feel that even the 6r movements has a slight diff click when reaching its max reserve

congrats on your new purchase.. always loved these seiko 5s especially in white / silver dials

you could probably contact the dealer that sold you on this piece on why it wasn't stamped

usually they copy the number behind your watch case onto the card

Been looking at 2 models, both Samurais.

1) Padi
2) Save the Ocean Collection - Great White Shark

Leaning towards the Padi first, probably along the way might scoop up the Save the Ocean edition - the blue is just too beautiful.

Thanks! Yeah I rarely see this model / colorway on people's wrist.

Also, I noticed the PADI Samurai has 2 versions, Japan edition and non-Japan wordings. Are there any difference aside from the JAPAN Movement wordings?

is the same quality in both K and J so shouldn't make much difference where the watch was manufactured

J series tends to be more popular for collectors / resale value and people tend to pay more for the Made In Japan written on the dial compared to

K series which has Movt Japan and usually made locally here in msia

the price increment from the old sarb017 is just insane

for this amount with unsigned crown too. can't they even bring back the crown from the sarb017 mega_shok.gif

I think seiko increasing the pricing will kill a lot of mid tier jdm watch collectors that adores this brand for their affordability as opposed to swiss counterparts

seiko already been increasing prices of the 6r models like the sumo / shogun... then the newer 6rmas / mm200...
while 4r models are taking over the old 6r prices.

that's why i think those "rumors" of alpinist / sarb getting discontinued is for ppl to quickly buy off remaining stocks... of cos that backfired abit since they're still readily available.
looking at the trend, the discontinued applies more to the 6r15... the models with 6r15 are just casualties...
then those models will later get upgraded with 6r35...like sumo / alpinist...

the old SARBs are likely just going to go up in price, especially when the 'new' benchmark is MSRP at around usd700.

Hard to say la. the 017 @ usd400 is now being touted as a fantastic price, which to me is mind boggling given what we paid for it just a few years back.

Seiko is pushing it's price point higher and justifying it with the LE or upgraded spec game, but I guess that isn't unexpected.

well when it came out the retail price was also usd400+...and back then the currency wasnt as bad as it is now.
i remember them around rm1.2-1.3k?

even the sumo which has already gotten the 6r35...well u dont exactly see the 6r15 models shooting up in price...nor the non-x models...
imo any price increase is mainly due to currency fluctuations...

you can send back to your dealer to try ask them whether is it possible to send back for readjustment on the timing regulation + / - on the movement

or you can send to a local watch maker to get this procedure done which should be faster to get back your watch

slightly above 4r

I think 4r should be rm180 while 6r15 is rm200

I feel 6r servicing rm200 is worth it for their ori price to servicing ratio

most importantly is I love these watches and it does not break the bank smile.gif

Good luck 👍

Unfortunately for the me, my first auto was the Kamasu, with
Time accuracy of +12-25+ when I bought it. Refunded it. Staying with quartz only. Hate to reset time date when I go through my collection. Hate to set the date for my quartz as well for months less than 31.

Next watch will be a perpetual calendar. Maybe Bluetooth.

correct. But my wrist can only support like 47 mm lug length. Before it goes over. I think my next watch is the casio royal oak. Comfortable with it. Technically analogue with perpetual calendar

u do realize the casio is 48.5mm lug to lug right...
this proves that lug to lug isn't the only factor but how the lug is designed also.

It wears smaller than the dimensions suggest. My entire wrist width is 50 mm. I've tried it, it fits well. My seiko sgeg097p1 wears bigger even if that is 47 mm

Yes, but the case design will help people with smaller wrist. The seiko turtle and casio oak is a great option for smaller wrist. Still maintain a big dial.

I will try to find the new gravitymaster gwr-b1000 to see if this carbon core guard can be worn by small wrist. The curved lug design is interesting. Reminds me of the tissot t touch.

Yes. Let me know how the gwr-b1000 sits on the wrist. I'm eyeing the more budget option...gts-b200 because its supposed to be smaller in dimension than most of the carbon core or gsteel models out there but still provide the same functionality and looks.

I also cannot stand have to always set the time and date on my seikos. all sitting in the watch box collecting dust. Im mostly wearing my gshocks these days.

Will also look at the GTS-B200 as well. Cheaper alternative to the gravitymaster, better for me. Thinner in depth, but higher in lug length though. After owning the Kamasu and wearing it for a month daily, I don't think it is for me. Don't like top heavy watches. Reminds me of my Timex Explorer at almost the same weight 150-180 gm (on stock bracelet) which is 17 mm tall. Wiggling the watch makes it loose. My 20 year old Timex T6 explorer compass sits more in the watchbox now than on my wrist. Which defeats the purpose of cherishing it. Granted that was the only watch I used for 15 years (before smartphones and I needed an inbuilt compass). Now it just keeping for memory's sake.

Maybe divers are not for me. Rotating bezel which I will not use. Smaller dial because of the bezel. Weight, I tend to use watches which <100 gms more often. Thickness of the watch because of the WR of 200m, which to be fair, I'm not going to go anywhere near 10 m of depth. Which is why the Casio GA-2100 is so much nicer/makes sense. Since I'm working a desk job, a watch too thick also looks out of place on a small wrist. Cannot wear long sleeve shirts. To me, a watch has to serve a function first, rather than looks. Looks are a bonus. At the end of the day, that is the watch which you will always gravitate to without thinking.

One thing about divers is it sure look nice though. If I had a bigger wrist, and I don't mind getting this diver inspired Casio MTP-S110 watch.

Found it here:

In watchmaking, "perpetual calendar" describes a calendar mechanism that correctly displays the date on the watch 'perpetually', taking into account the different lengths of the months as well as leap years. The internal mechanism will move the dial to the next day.

Hi all Sifus, I want to buy myself a Seiko mechanical watch as my very first mechanical watch.
Did my research and decided to go for SARB033 (instead of SARX035 due to limited budget).
Need help from kind Sifus here can tell me where can I buy one? TQ.

Very sharp eye for detail....typical of a true WIS!! 😅

Talking about 2 hands...im actually eyeing another piece....a vintage tissot. Im not really into vintage but this one is in good condition, a nice dress watch but what really attracts me is the offered price. Better not post the pic here in Seiko watch thread

Really? Perhaps it looks different in real life...certainly different from the usual prospex bezels but the texturing on the dial is a nice touch.

Im mostly wearing my gshocks these days.
nice collection. Lots of presages. Mine's mostly divers and only one presage.
*
I've tried both gwr-b1000 and the gst-b200. The GWR-B1000 sits nicer because it curves nicely on the wrist. There is a slight gap with the gst-b200. However, the gst-b200 is not as high/tall as the GWR-B1000. The carbon fibre band is not as nice as the one for the gst-b200. Aesthetic wise, the gst-b200 is more imposing while the GWR-B1000 is more discrete. When rotating my hand, can definitely tell that the gst-b200 is top heavy slightly. Will shake a bit. Also due to the gap. When comparing the to the GA-2100. The GA-2100 is way comfortable.

im thinking about getting a real nice watch but not something along the lines of 5k and above and im debating if i should get it from seiko or some other swiss made watch?

i have the seiko snk5 and i love it. its just so simple and elegant that im using it as my daily driver but i do want to get something a little dressier since its the time of the year where people are getting married and im lucky enough to get invited to their weddings so i want to be able to present myself better too.

i've read that seiko has made advancement better than the swiss and all their materials are all grown / made in house too. are people leaning towards swiss made watches coz of the name?

have a look at their presage lines, most if not all of them look great. can't say the same for their movement accuracy though.

while they make everything in house, they're not as great as a performer when compared to those ETA driven watches from swiss counterpart, and I'm speaking from experience.

IMO, I'd look into Swiss territory with that kind of budget range; ie maurice lacroix, mido, oris to name a few. if you don't mind older and preowned, omega and tudor are accessible at around 6k and above.

I went to mall yesterday to try basic lineup seiko presage to get the feels and size of them before pulling the trigger online on the irish coffee.

But guess what, they have the Seiko Irish Coffee SRPE11J1 there! Last stock somemore. Quite nice serial number somemore. And the best part is from the discount offered the price is the same as online!

Yes, you are right, not used to the long end of the band pointing forward. Also when walking with arm swing, that forward pointing end might get caught at the side pocket opening of the pants or trousers. The band is the main thing I don't like about the watch.

i always switch to normal strap to ease my discomfort biggrin.gif

+1 me too. aftermarket strap fixes this issue for me

all the seiko original straps with butterfly clasp are always made so that the pointy end is facing inwards which looks weird on the wrist and very uncomfortable

My Instagram WristWatch Page

I'll be posting on all watch related stuff that I own in general also to highlight on watch straps that I'll be bringing in to sell

found a distributor that supplies to a singapore dealer, but their rrp has quite a high margin so I'm bringing in to test market here while offering a better price point and also on the same time can share my passion for wrist watch related stuffs biggrin.gif

today's watch of the day: limited edition SARX007 out of 300 numbered pieces. this comes with an white enamel dial and blue indices which only can been seen in bright lighting shining on it from certain angles

is there a decent seiko with SS bracelet that's hackable and not a diver and presage? Either 4R or 6R movement. I want something in between diver and dress watch. Already had too many divers and also have cocktail time.

If there's similar style to this with SS bracelet would be nice. Are there?

user posted image

Or this, is it available locally?

user posted image

But I wish they still had this SARG011 with SS bracelet

alibaba laugh.gif

but the catch is that we need to order at least 50pcs per color per strap and size which sums up to quite a few hundreds for minimal order just to get the logo customization on the band

at the moment I just bring in 20mm to see how it goes. if got good response then I will bring more different designs and sizes in the future smile.gif

there will always be a market but in the niche category here which is not easy to stand out among so many other small scale competitors

feels like people who are seriously into watch collection are all about the brand horology and brand image

Hi guys, just want to ask do watch shop usually sells spring bar? (Uncle shop or retailer?). I want to change my watch strap but cannot use the original spring bar since it is a quick release type..

On lazada you have to buy it in bulk.. dont want to waste if possible. Thank you

cut the strap like that feels weird since the middle part where both sides meet each other's stitching would disappear

but anyhow is a good option to consider when cannot find shorter length straps

Don't cut the original rubber strap pls as suggested by other here... it's such a waste!!!

How about changing to nato? At least the excessive end can tuck in again.

Guys, any pointer on where we can send our Seiko for servicing within Klang Valley?

Got my SRP775K1 as a gift from relative, i think this is part of his old collection as the watch seems to +45s almost everyday (it goes faster not slower, really troublesome to re-adjust every weekend) and just yesterday beginning to die on me even though only idling for about 12 hours.

I appreciate all ur suggestions, guys!

can send back to your ad / shop bought from for servicing under factory

otherwise can recommend you to send to steven watch fixology aka wah foong at jln raja laut

I believe for your watch issue, he can just adjust the accuracy and not perform a full servicing since is still quite new

yaya true about wasting the nice original strap but sometimes I've seen people just don't want the hassle to buy a new strap / don't know how to change the strap

easy solution is to cut it laugh.gif

Can we adjust the time for 4R and 6R movements bi-directional?
Always had a habit of doing it clockwise. Just wanted to know if it can be done the other way with no damages to the movement.

Thanks.

Surprisingly expensive for normal Seiko watch as well even though Seiko is made in Japan

Aren’t all watch brands like that? Some watches I bought overseas are marginally cheaper than buying in Malaysia, the difference is overseas might have stock for the models I wanted

For seiko, there are a lot of JDM models which are slightly cheaper buying in Japan versus online like Seiya

Got some Seiko movement question for Sifus here...
I'm looking for reliable time keeping movement so I'm prefer quartz for accuracy but would like to know the difference between 8T63 versus the V175 movement?
From what i can see at the moment, the difference would be the additional solar powered capability in V175?

In addition to the new handset, they decided to make this in 40mm size which is a plus point. The orange second hand I am not sure.
*
This is only in the limited edition. Regular ones are not colored seconds hand. For me I still like watches above 40mm. 40mm might be ok. But the current one 42mm also looks good on my wrist. But this case design definitely will wear bigger than it's size. 42 looks like 44 actually.

Dun recall if I serviced it before... long time never keep track with my watches di.

It was running slower than usual so I brought it for regulation and discovered mold instead.

Yep,

And don't be conned by 30-40% or whatever. Seiko's MSRP is pretty much not reflective of the market price anyway.

I'm using one, daily use since day one. On my wrist most of the time (washing dishes, swimming, most of the time on my wrist sweat.gif ).. But bought online from Hong Kong in October 2008. Can't remember the price.

Faithfully tracking time since 2008. Very accurate and the battery still holding charge okay.

Cheap thumbsup.gif

I bought mine for RM1.2k++ if I'm not mistaken. That was in 2008. sweat.gif

One thing I like about this watch... titanium - strong, till now no significant deep scratch and very light. The saphire face - no scratch at all except one very small deep cut - accidently bump into my wife's diamond ring long time ago. sweat.gif

My other steel case watches - 'sleeping' in watch box. Heavy and not as tough as titanium.

hey anyone here know and intend to get this time piece?
the seiko trilogy sla037 reissue, the brand new sbex009, Limited edition.
55th anniversary time piece.

the box sapphire glass, the dial, the design, the lume are so classic.
the movement engine 8L55 make it worth to keep.
but too pricey for this one.... sad.gif ayam wish able to buy one.

they are legit.. bought from them before in lazada.. skx007 around RM700+ that time lazada have great voucher. But I just look at this website. It's not any cheaper than buy in retail shop. Some retail shop can discount 20-30%.. This website also mark up the price. I saw one model is selling around 1779.. but their website 2069. so after discount also about the same.

That really depends does she like a simple watch face or complicated ones.. SIze ? Most ladies are particular about the chunk of watch on their wrist. Maybe those are good for starters .

size wise, for sure she likes smaller ones, not big ones.

design wise, simple is the best, can easily see the time with just a glance of eyes

well, simply said, usual traditional very lady like type of watch nod.gif

she's been complaining the watches she has doesnt last long of the battery life, so i thought might as well get her an automatic one then she doesnt need to worry about battery life anymore

size wise, for sure she likes smaller ones, not big ones.

design wise, simple is the best, can easily see the time with just a glance of eyes

well, simply said, usual traditional very lady like type of watch  nod.gif

she's been complaining the watches she has doesnt last long of the battery life, so i thought might as well get her an automatic one then she doesnt need to worry about battery life anymore
*
Is she into automatic watch?
From what I know, automatic watch need more maintenance than battery watch. As in need to wind it every now and then.
If got date complication, then cannot adjust the time at certain hours.

Does malaysiawatches @ shopee selling genuine seiko watch ?

Good price SRPB53K1 for only RM1,168.00

If anyone can recommend a physical store selling at that price or lower, that would be great

u talking about those rm300 seiko 5? I wouldn't bother... cos u cannot wind them... but have to shake it enough... around 5mins...to get a decent power reserve on them.

Charging my old Seiko Kinetic. Using Seiko Kinetic Energy Supplier. Bought it in July 2008. GBP70. Direct from UK. Dang expensive. sweat.gif

Bought it because I use this to maintain my Seiko Kinetic watches collections. To keep it nicely charge without having to wear it too often. cool2.gif

My old Seiko Kinetic not holding much charge anymore. Had to charge using this method, faster than shaking in to charge. Huhu. Need to change the rechargable battery. sweat.gif

Shopee is really mix and match. First indication is the price..If the price way too low ... well its just too good to be true.
Having said that there are also high prices watch thats a replica or 1:1 in shoppes.

Would the presence of a 1-year international warranty indicate the genuineness of a Seiko?

depends if the warranty is valid or not?
if someone is willing to make a fake watch, it would only be that much easier to print a fake warranty card.

the safest bet is to always buy from authorized dealer.

Hi guys, just kinda tempted to buy a seiko but can’t decide between these 2 watches (pls dun suggest to buy both 😅). So kinda asking for opinions here.

SSA392J1 - love the fact that it’s an automatic watch and absolutely love the color. Dislike the fact that it has no numbers and also it’s more of a classic simple watch with no much extra functions.

SRX007P1 - Love the moonphase and also all the functionalities and the overall look, it looks complicated yet fancy. Not too sure about it being a kinetic direct drive watch though. Kinda like a hybrid plus hardly ever seen anyone wear this. Not sure if it’s worth to pay that much for a non automatic watch. 🤨

Anyone here got experience wearing any of the above 2 models and can share your thoughts about them?

buy the SSA392J1 if you prefer the smooth sweeping hands and classy appeal. imho mechanical pieces without too many complications are the best choice in term of servicing and reliability because it usually does not cost much to maintain

Uh ended up getting the SRX007P1 instead simply coz I just love how it looks with the moonphase 🤣 though I agree with what you said about the SSA392J1, night just buy it also in the next 1-2 months.

buying watches can be quite addictive

buy what you like to wear only and hopefully not end up in a big stack of collection like many others here biggrin.gif

I hope not hahaha, just planned to buy 1 actually but really felt divided between the 2 watches which is why I’m considering getting the other one in a few months time. Let’s see if it’s still stuck in my mind by then. 😅

serviced quite a number 6r movements from my collection. about rm200 only each servicing considering these older models are not so easy available in the secondary market nowadays  smile.gif

Rm200? So cheap.
After how many years u service the 6r movement?
What is the issue u decide to service?
I got 1 piece with 6r15d movement.
Do u have watch with 7s26 movement and bring them to service too?

No need service kot. 6r15. Saw ppl comment after keep seiko drawer for 20 years, it is still running like normal.
Best value timepiece.

for my case its like the watches were from the spirit scvs older 6r model which were released in the early 2000s therefore no harm spending extra rm200 to wear them with joy

also when I brought to him for servicing the beat rate was kinda off too wink.gif

I like to make sure all my watches are in good condition and given enough tlc to them otherwise I'll let go for other newer pieces

Did you try on both?

I think the new Presages are tad bit too big and thick to be an elegant dress watch.

Yeah I did, this presage didn’t feel too thick for me, maybe because I’m ok with thick and big watches.
