After 10 freaking years since using the first unifi in KL, unifi finally reached my house in tanjung bungah penang.. set up appointment on 18 Jan saturday...

However i want to ask all the sifus here some suggestions:

1.) Maxis or unifi? (My fam of 5 uses maxis and have "one prime" unlimited data plans, however heard many stories about maxis fibre)

2.) 100mbs or 300mbs? (We have 7 PCs and 5 phones online.. running a home office here.. me and dad regulary game online, so ping is priority..)

3.) Should we upgrade to a different router? If so what router to recommend for best speeds and possibly reach? (Mostly wifi for all devices, 2,000 sqft two story house... Of course looking for best bang for buck.. we dont have millions lol)

Thank you all!!!

1. Maxis if you want to save on monthly subscription.

2. Is the PC turn on at the same time? What is main usage for the internet? Streaming? Downloading? Web browsing? For heavy usage, go for 300mbps. Unifi for better latency.

3. State your budget, then can suggest accordingly. For 2000 sqft 2 storey house, the provided router might not be enough to cover the whole house area. If you want to save, try using the provided router for 1 week and take note on the issue that you encountered.

Based on your requirement, Unifi is all the way to go.

I’m on 800mbps plan + ultimate pack + free calls plan with no contract at RM159. My question is can I remove the ultimate tv pack?

I tried to downgrade my ultimate to varnam pack to save rm30 but I was told that the downgrade is possible but with 12 months new contract.

I was like WTF!!! Why is my contract to be renewed for 12 months. I logged a case with their TOP management and MCMC and now awaiting for their reply.

1) Maxis for better routing, unifi for better support

2) 100mbps is too slow, better 300mbps

3) If u use landline for maxis, its complicated. Else, better to replace stock router. Go for Asus for reliability, might wanna add 1 more AP for upstair/downstair.

1) Unifi, purely and mainly for better service.

2) it is up to you, but to fully utilize the 300Mbps speed, you will need to consider mesh wifi. For 100Mbps, a single router should probably do it.

3) If you want coverage and speed, get mesh wifi. I would suggest Deco M9 Plus. Otherwise, if you're happy with one router, get Asus RT-AC86U.

You do know that everyone else is paying between RM189 & RM259 for 800Mb/s with ultimate pack?
Some people are even paying RM329 for 800Mb/s
You are one of the very few who gets the exclusivity of paying only RM159 for 800Mb/s + ultimate pack

Stop complaining

My only complain is why TM has to impose 12 months contract for downgrading the TV pack. It doesnt make sense. doh.gif

Eh, IIRC, you wanted to switch to maxis some time back? And was it you who asked if anyone wants to take over your unifi account? biggrin.gif
*
Yes i was planning to swap to Maxis. However it didnt happen, as Maxis has stop taking new application of home fiber in my area at Gombak due to unforseen issues. Some of my neighbours whom are using maxis previously have been having frequent fiber breakdown at my area due to this upgrade work which is performed by JKR at my location.

Surprisingly only Maxis users are impacted and TM users here are ok. Thus thats why i decided not to switch to Maxis.

again, u are very lucky that they allow u to do the downgrade with 12 month contract and let u save... so u pay even less.

others are not even allowed to downgrade unifitv or talk time to save, me included.

u hv no idea how good u already have it.

and please do make so much noise that u lose it in the end!

Does it make sense that they allow you to pay RM129 for 800Mbps, while i'm paying RM129 for 100Mbps ?

Can you get the agent's contact number for me, so that I can get 800Mbps at RM129 ? They can renew my contract for 2 years.

I'm paying RM 129 for 500Mbps and wanted to remove Aneka as I also have Ruby. Don't ask me why but I'm charged for two UniFi TV packages, total RM 60. laugh.gif
I tried few times and TM refused to remove for me... I'm not even downgrading, just removing one... They said I'm paying too low already for my package. cry.gif But there are people who pay better value than mine. sad.gif

ya, so lame...! laugh.gif

i do not see them lowering prices after losing rm4bil with the "2x speed, 1/2 price" thingy after ge14.

can almost smell them pushing prices higher again.

but have to grandfather those paying low price/high speeds - until they terminate n their own for whatever reason.
*
tm playing prices game all over and over again. so, for me better wait for the best deals for all of us, even though just RM10 for every one of customer. That can be big gain for them. Next package, they will offer better deal than this one but put another tricky parts. Don't worry, more packages tm will offer in this year.
