Yup, I think I would agree with what you said. There are instances of some programmes being broadcast in SDTV 16:9 but for some others, 4:3. One ridiculous case is religious programme, Tanyalah Ustaz is actually broadcasting in a combination of 4:3, 16:9 SD or 16:9 HD depend on the studio. (The resolution is consistent across a show/episode)

Wonder that what is the MUX they will go on.
And what will happen as a tuning exercise will be probably required if the TV/set top box did not add the channel automatically.

They may do so if they are in need on local content at first (they have little local production apart from Pop Yeah Yeah produced for TV3)

Yup. It's offering has been quite bad nowadays due to over reliance of foreign content in the past. And not to mention it is mainly the traditional press that cause it's eventual instability (TV's downfall is partially caused by CJ WOW SHOP).

I don't see anything wrong with foreign content.

Both foreign and some local content are good.

Yup, foreign TV content is good, and some of them brilliant. However, over reliance on foreign TV content is not really good for the broadcasters as the contents the TV station bought are not owned by the broadcasters. Not to mention that there are lots of ways to access foreign TV content legally nowadays. (Pay TV/OTT such as Astro, Netflix .etc) At least in terms on local production, the content will give some uniqueness to a channel. Also it will help local production flourish. The content may be sold to other broadcasters too if it is of high quality.

Wow WWE shows are back on free-to-air finally.

Awesome TV channel has appeared on DTT... It haven't started any programmes yet, just a channel logo like this... It is expected that regular programming shall starts on August.

TV2 has wider reach than RTM SPORTS.

Interested to see what is going to be offered on this channel.
Official test transmissions (promo) starts at midday.
Launches 3 August 2020.

Meanwhile 8TV is still not available in HD, possibly due to its parent crisis.

Since there's a new channel on MYTV DTT now (Awesome TV), I did a bitrate check again...

Conclusion: Video and audio bitrate remains unchanged...
2Mbps per SD channel
3.5Mbps per HD channel from RTM (TV1, TV2, RTM Sports,...)
4Mbps per HD channel for other TV stations (Media Prima, Al Hijrah, Go Shop, Awesome TV,...)

32kbps HE-AAC v2 audio for any TV channels except from RTM
48kbps HE-AAC v2 audio for RTM channels

Each MYTV's 256QAM mux has a total bandwidth of 34Mbps.
Total used bandwidth (including all other datas like EIT, EPG, DVB subtitles,...) are now 25.9Mbps for both Mux 1 and Mux 2 respectively.
Which it seems to me that if they add another 1 or 2 HD channels on their existing muxes, then their bandwidth is pretty much full already, and we might see Mux 3 to up on air by then, and that's if there's new TV stations willing to seriously start investing on them.

Hi Pals

I just got myself on hand of the mytv decoder and tried to setup but failed

I connected it to the previous antenna used for analogue viewing and the only difference is directly to the antenna without booster (I ditched it after analogue was switched off)

First few auto search resulted with no channel being detected and only today there was once a few channels was shown detected

But again, when came to viewing it shows no signal

Most probably because of weak signal? And what can I do to improve this? If adjusting the antenna then GG because it is on the rooftop

It's good that you remove the booster, but did you remove the masthead amplifier too? Masthead amplifier also known as the outdoor unit of the booster:


Yes, I'm referring to that "Outdoor booster". Is it still there? You might wanna go out and check
If it's still there, then it must be removed too.
And then, the cable must be connected directly to the antenna's input and does not passes through the outdoor unit of the booster.
