My digital tv signal just went off because the construction of tall building nearby finally reached the "certain level" of height.  sleep.gif

So...what should we do?
We as in "8 neighbours" who DTTV signal got blocked.......

Initially, it was the first neighbour = finished 4th floor construction
Then, second neighbour = 6th floor
Third neighbour = 7th floor

Mine at the last row = 12 floor

What antenna type do you use? Take pic see...

Try reposition/relocate the antenna to somewhere else...
Or contact your building management, ask them to upgrade their MATV system to support digital TV by contacting relevant contractors.

What is the name of your apartment/condo?

Yep, or 5 elements UHF antenna / indoor antenna is fine if it's not far from nearby transmitter or have good line-of-sight to the transmitter.
It still depends on location also.

But to be safe, go for good quality/more element ones, and don't rely on signal boosters.

i'm on 5 elements and there's still random pixelation despite the good 90% signal quality.

Hmm.. Maybe try fine tune your antenna position while making sure the signal strength/quality are high?

The installer had already done a good job on that.

Same issue with my setup..
Both signal & strength are at 100%..
Previously will only happen on RTM channels but now since few days ago notice on Media Prima channels too..

Getting signal from Gunung Kledang..

The popular 5E Thai antenna with green cover.

No lah, I live at terrace house.

Problem is, there is nearby building construction which is getting higher and higher until it obstructed the signal for our row of landed housing.

Ohhhhh I thought you live in an apartment/condo or something sweat.gif

Maybe try monitor signal readings while reposition your antenna? I think that's the most you could do.
Upgrade to a more elements UHF antenna might not necessarily help, since there's a tall building obstructing...

Media Prima confirms Bangsar exit, to continue operating from three other locations
15 July 2020

https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/medi...other-locations
QUOTE
The four locations are Sri Pentas in Petaling Jaya, Balai Berita 1 (BB1) in Bangsar, and Balai Berita 2 (BB2) and Glenmarie Studios in Shah Alam, the group said in a statement.

"As such, Media Prima does have plans to consolidate its operations into three locations namely Sri Pentas, BB2 and Glenmarie Studios based on workflow and efficient space requirement," it said.

The loss-making media group said it has undertaken several initiatives pertaining to revising revenue models and corresponding cost management involving operational changes to address cost inefficiencies arising from work duplication.

"Arising from improved workflow efficiency, it has been determined that Media Prima does not require the existing space capacity," the group said.

Ah, maybe the reason why NTV7 news is previously still in SD 4:3 because they're using the older studio and older SD cameras.
And maybe since they've planned to close one older studio and move to another one, might as well just continue in SD 4:3 until then.

This is just an upgrade on the cameras. Likely they are using HD cameras acquired recently. Some Media Prima contents are still on these ancient cameras but seems like these cameras are being slowly phasing out as the MHI and WHI main studios are already equipped in HD some time ago.

Well... Usually studio broadcast cameras are stationary, and doesn't move in and out the studio regularly.
I would imagine that they are indeed phasing out SD cameras and upgrading to HD cameras, but at a slower pace, since Media Prima is not that rich now.
And, priority are given to programmes that has higher viewership...

this is pretty common. you cannot expect to have line of sight to the nearest tower. your only option is a booster and point the antenna to a further tv tower with clearer signal path.
I'm now pulling signal from tv tower that's 70km away due to the same reason sweat.gif

A studio has a lot more than the cameras to upgrade for 4K HD.
You have all the recorders, switching and effects equipment too
An old studio could still be analog

Agreed. However, even when the all things are analogue/S Video, it is still possible to transmit in SD 16:9. It is ridiculous for not able to produce content in 16:9 when all transmissions are in 16:9.

To me, it's just that the broadcast/technical persons in Media Prima aren't so knowledgeable about aspect ratio stuff like almost all of us here.

All they learn in school is, SD is 4:3, HD is 16:9. Full stop.
SD in 16:9? Nope. It's not in their dictionary. And they expect viewers to not care about it.
