you give me an idea, since MYREUR is cheaper than MYRUSD, why not convert to EUR and send to IBKR for free (same for SGD)? convert to USD for free using recurring investment

Yeah man. Currency conversion fee varies from 2usd onwards and share commission fee 0.35usd. Judging so the video actually shows 1.25 euro for commission fee. Are etf fee usually that high?

It's already cheap. Local brokerage easily EUR25-50.

Eh I never abandoned it sad.gif just that the Forex thread went dead, I also didn't see the need to bump...
Ah I never got to try direct USD funding from Wise yet, the only time I did and was successful was my leftover Euros from trip... There was no fee at all, so thanks for the info.

I personally continued with the SGD route as I compared the rates SGD vs USD and didn't see much difference ... Don't wanna trigger Wise compliance check because IIRC they mandate that you as sender, must send from an account of the same name -- SunwayMoney/MoneyMatch would be labelled otherwise, so they violate that rule. (Others please CMIIW)

maybe Wise see your post and reduce fees biggrin.gif

I wish I'm a market mover biggrin.gif I got similar email today too. I checked the linked article is dated 3 May so unfortunately my post didn't change their mind... I like how they provide comparison tool and it's against the losers laugh.gif the ones where rates are so bad, I don't even want to spend time comparing them

Comparison this morning...

long story short, Wise loses by miles and MoneyMatch is the best for SGD for today's working day. Note: I checked using FPX rate on Wise, instead of Wise balance (that is a few bucks cheaper). I'm still holding some money from my travels so I can't do a full 20k transfer
Note: the column 45008 is only meant for Sunway Money where they offer more favourable rate at 45k and above (with RM8 fee)

Also for comparison, I checked rates last Saturday (sheets labelled 20240511):
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DF1...#gid=1635374305

It's really annoying for me to do during office hours... but looking at these rates, oklah just delay my work a bit sweat.gif

May I know how SunwayMoney / MoneyMatch transfer the USD into the bank account? Is it via wire or ach?

capablanca we open SG bank account and deposit SGD into IBKR. then we convert to USD via 2 ways
  • create a recurring investment (we can create a recurring investment that happens only 1 time). IBKR will auto convert SGD to USD for free
  • manually convert to USD at a fee of U$2 per U$100k
  • if your IBKR is cash acct type, IBKR will auto convert when you do a manual share purchase. 0.03% fee (any investment of <U$6666 will have a fee of U$2 and below. if amt is higher than that, just manually convert, follow the previous option)

Thank you. Yes, I'm currently using the Sunway Money, SG Bank method to fund IBKR.
But I also have USD bank account.

As @Takudan included USD view, I was wondering if she have the knowledge of the fees of receiving into a USD bank account and I can try the Sunway Money => USD account => IBKR method if it's cheaper.

Just did the

CIMB my to money match to cimb sg to ikbr sgd then convert to ikbr usd.

There's a learning curve but doing this allows you learn how to withdraw in the future

Wah cheaper than Wise because of their stupid transfer fees

Ahh, the only way I know of is via Wise.. you load money into Wise with USD, then using IBKR direct linkage with Wise (plus a bit of fee for USD), you can load USD into IBKR. This would've been a viable option if Wise was more competitive, but I learned after comparing that it is not, lol.

If you're doing this off business hours, it may be a different story because Wise seems consistent with their rates whereas the other 2 is much worse -- Wise was as good as SunwayMoney last Saturday.

I mean, when you are transferring money into Wise with USD, what method is Sunway Money / MoneyMatch using?
Is it Wire or ACH. As banks have cost to receive wire, while it's cheaper to free with ACH.

capablanca i just asked moneymatch. they don't have local bank partners in USA, so expect expensive SWIFT fees. Wise has local US bank so you can do ACH (GIRO) transfer

I am thinking of moving my IBKR which is UK based to USA based.

May I ask those who have made the switch, are there any issues or concerns after making the switch?

How long would it take to make the switch, and what's the procedure like?
