Hi, would like to ask, are we able to use the mobile app without using mobile authentication? Or would it be automatically signed up upon logging in via mobile app.

Thank you.

beware, according to singaporefi reddit thread, all of yesterday's RSP for LSE etfs is now back to $1.70. the $0.35 party could be over https://www.reddit.com/r/singaporefi/commen...ent_lseetf_fee/
QUOTE
I had two recurring in two consecutive days. It looked like this:
  • January 25, 2024 => Commission 0.35 USD for 500 USD of LSE.EIMI
  • January 26 , 2024 => Commission 1.70 USD for 500 USD of LSE.EIMI
Maybe they have fixed it. Cause it was supposed to be 0.35 USD for NYSE/NASDAQ stock markets according to their tiered pricing, and 1.70 USD for USD denominated LSE stocks.
QUOTE
Mine executed today (Friday midnight) and it’s $2. I think they might have changed it with effect from today to $2. It’s always been $0.38 for me previously.

Hi sifus,
I am starting out with IBKR.
Already registered Wise.
Can you advise what is the best practice if I want to dca monthly (fixed amount of MYR) into IBKR etf?
1) CIMB MYR saving account to Wise MYR > Wise convert MYR to USD > transfer to IBKR USD
2) CIMB MYR saving account to Wise USD > transfer to IBKR USD
Does the above makes any difference with the fees?

With my first deposit into Wise 20 USD (because I was required to make a one time deposit to finish the account creation):
user posted image
I got charged with 0.65 MYR. So there is a rate of 0.68%.

Then, I have made a deposit into IBKR.
user posted image
I got charged with 0.39 USD. Rate is fixed.

https://wise.com/my/pricing/send-money?targ...etCcy=USD&tab=1

The above should be equivalent to option 2.
For option 1, I assume there will be a fee for currency conversion in Wise.
I cannot find what is the rate in the website.
Found it. It is the same rate. 0.65%

So it wouldn't make any difference either way.

Option 1 would be the better choice since I want to transfer based on fixed amount of MYR right?

you can also transfer a fixed amount of MYR with option 2.
e.g., convert from RM to USD inside wise, key in the round numbers u want in RM. take note of the calculated USD. in this case, it's U$210.05

user posted image

when you want to transfer into IBKR, just key in the amt minus 39 cents (aka U$209.66), wise will automatically add on the 39 cents

currently the best practice would be to open a sg bank acct and use DuitNow/MoneyMatch to convert RM->SGD. and inside IBKR, convert SGD to USD. main reason being 0.65% fee is too expensive

I have made a mistake on the rate on my post.
The first option has an interest rate of 0.65%.
The second option has an interest rate of 0.68%.

Do you mean the double currency conversion with DuitNow/MoneyMatch and IBKR + IBKR fee is cheaper compared to Wise currency conversion + Wise fee?
I couldn't find the IBKR fee for the currency conversion.

U$2 fee per U$100k converted, or simplified, flat rate of U$2 (but using recurring investment feature, SGDUSD conversion is FOC) https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/prici...-currencies.php

I did my homework as best as I can.
I could not find an article in the website for the waive fee for the recurring investment.
I couldn't setup one yet to see myself.
user posted image
I think due to my trading permission has yet to be approved. Still under pending status. tongue.gif

There is a post in reddit about the waive did not happen.

Hope you can shed some light over this matter.

Anyhow, I will look into creating the CIMB SG account in advance.

You want to buy China ETF broad based is MCHI and large cap is FXI while KWEB it is tech based

Isn’t LSE more expensive to buy 🤦‍♀️ US based ETFs

IBKR has increased the rsp fees for LSE stocks, is it still worth buying CSPX over VOO?

People here can get too focused on all the one-time fees like currency conversion, bid-ask spread and transaction fees, but in the grand scheme of things they don't matter as much as ongoing charges like dividend tax and total expense ratio which are much more important.

Refunded automatically.

SGOV is one of the Qualified Interest Income. Although IBKR takes 30% away from your dividend for withholding tax, you will be refunded this 30% around early next year once IRS officially declares the exemption.

It's nearing the end of January 2024, I still don't see IBKR refund my 30% WHT deducted out of my BIL holdings.

Can anyone confirm the exact date of WHT refund for last year/previous years?

Thanks.

I haven't received mine too. Heard hearsay that it will usually be refunded around 1 Jan - 15 Feb. I guess we can only wait.
