I sold my BIL parking fund today as tomorrow is ex-date. IRR is 2.90% p.a., actual return is 0.09%. So pretty good for USD short-term parking, I think.

Cashflow for reference:

DateCashflowNotes
18 Nov-91.57*40-0.27 = -3663.07Bought 40 shares of BIL at 91.57 USD, 0.27 USD commission (I used Very low fee SMART setting)
25 Nov-91.61-0.35 = -91.96Accidentally bought 1 extra share of BIL at 0.35 USD commission
30 Nov+91.68*41-0.37 = +3758.51Sold all 41 BIL shares at 91.68 USD, 0.37 USD commission (commission is higher because I use normal SMART setting, not the Very low fee option to guarantee sucessful transaction)

Why park in BIL? πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

UUP is a better option

Sent more than 5k SGD but still rejected... Looks like DBS don't accept transfers to FD account directly. So, park USD in BIL remains the most viable options for now.

Don’t transfer money on data dumps days

Transferring on Monday will always be the best

Good company to hold πŸ‘

Result too stellar liao laugh.gif I didn't include it in my Google Finance watchlist so forgot...

https://gdcdyn.interactivebrokers.com/mkt/g...ngs_Release.pdf

NIM doubled to 2% p.a. and margins are in the 60-70s percent as always.

I find the doubling of NIM quite impressive given that they are offerring 3.83% interest on USD cash accounts.
*
Very happy since I bought last year during the bottom and still holding and let’s see whether will break ATH soon πŸ‘

Not sure if you guys read Hindenburg Research's article on Adani:

Interesting stuff. Surely a must-read for Indian stock investors.

Hi.
Does anyone knows what does the acronym CTR% means? I check the portfolioAnalyst under the Performance & Reports tab and I come across the CTR% column but I don't understand what does it measures. Would be grateful for some help here. TQ
*
It stands for contribution to return

For example if you invested $1000 in the beginning of period you selected, CTR% would show 1% and $10 in return for the selected asset that you invested in that earlier amount

Thanks for the explanation. So, it depends on the period I select as well. Makes perfect sense. TQ!
*
No worries as it can be confusing because of the period that is need to be selected

Choose the cheapest exchange (usually ECNs like BATS Europe, Turquoise and Chi-X) to complete the trade.

European luxury counters are richly valued in my opinion. Don't fall into the FOMO trap. tongue.gif
*
Agreed valuation for those are too high now with Arnault is the richest man in the world now

Just like Tesla when Musk was the richest then so don’t fall into FOMO trap πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Hi guys, if I want to invest in sp500

Which ticker symbol I should buy in ibkr so that I can get most cost and dividend effective way?
*
If pure based SnP500 SPY way to go

If you wanna save on WHT make sure you buy Irish domiciled SnP tracker there are many on it if you are buy and hold type

Expense ratio wise for SnP ETF index funds shouldn’t you cost you more than 0.1% yearly together with ibkr fees which is one time only if you are holding

SPY, IVV and VOO are the most liquid and highly traded in US SnP500 index funds

If you factored in after WHT kicks in CSPX will save you $26 for every 10k that you put in followed by VUSD even though the expense ratio is higher on CSPX

Hi guys, got question, for typical ibkr account, cannot do day trading right?

I remember read somewhere if buy and sell within 3 days too frequently will get account banned.

Is that correct?

Typically buying 10 units or 1k usd stocks, the fee incurred is how much already? Also selling incurred how much fees?
*
No such thing as I been using ibkr lite to do that often πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Unless you are using margin then it will be different story

Your professor is right most Wall Street is dead hence free parking and also faraway from many things during weekend πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Try parking there during a weekday an hour will cost you a nice bistro lunch in NYC

Now in HK, final semester, final year. Gonna graduate from HKUST this June.

Good news to share with you guys. I received an NUS Masters in Financial Engineering offer (no scholarship) and a 4-year NTU Econophysics PhD study scholarship. smile.gif

My family does not intend to support my study after Bachelor's degree, so I will go for the NTU PhD scholarship. Barring unforeseen circumstances, both NUS/NTU offers will begin this August.

My research topic will be on the "geometrical and topological study of extreme events in the stock markets".

Monthly stipend 2.2k SGD, raised to 2.7k SGD after I defend my thesis in the second year of my PhD study. Monthly expenses will be around 400-500 SGD (200-300 SGD on food, 200-300 SGD for on-campus hostel, assume I am a junior hall fellow). Saving about 2k SGD a month over a 4-year period, upon completion of my PhD can expect to save 80-90k SGD before investment returns/savings interests. rclxm9.gif

And best of all, you guys will have 4 more years of Business Times to read. laugh.gif

Well done πŸ‘ and it is gonna be interesting times for you on PhD as geopolitics is heating up now with Emperor Xi and Putin in helm πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Just set it up and tested both Wise method myself.

There's a low flat fee so you probably still don't want to send in small amounts.

Method 1 is you indicate to IBKR (and automatically to Wise) you want to send X amount, then you are given a Wise account number to transfer your money from your bank to that account number, Wise handle the rest.

Method 2 is you transfer to IBKR directly from your Wise balance.

Both seems to use fees structure as "Remitting from Wise balance." so expect a base fixed fee of around RM2? or so.

Not bad at all, but as always, check your routes for the amount you are sending, the correct answer is different between 500, 5000, 50000, and 500000.
*
Have you tried with the maximum daily limit Wise imposed to be sent to IBkR?
