That's up to you to decide. Minimum purchase for US T-bill is 1k USD. 5/1000*100% = 0.5%.

For myself, a typical purchase of US shares is around 500 USD and commission is usually 0.35 USD, so that works out to be around 0.07%.

You need to compute the commissions as a percentage of your purchase amount and decide how low a percentage you wish to go.

Hope that helps.

For cash portion (assuming am mostly in MYR in savings acc now) - do u think its good idea to move some of it to Interactive Brokers (USD) and keep it as cash (receive the 4.8%) and/or park in t bills?
any other better options?

Rates as of January 2, 2024. *Rate shown applies to IBKR Pro clients only. Positive settled cash balances held in the securities segment of accounts with NAV>100k earn the stated interest rate and those with NAV<100k earn a proportional rate. Cash held in the commodities segment of an account does not earn interest. Rates are subject to change.

u only get 4.83% if yr NAV is >100k. For <100k its proportional

What does negative interest accrued mean? Do I have to pay the interest accrued to IBKR?

I have IBKR Cash Account. A few days ago, I deposited some money in my IBKR account, via FAST. Then, I converted SGD to GBP with limit order, via "Forex" tab in IBKR website. Lastly, I used the converted GBP to participate in Preferential Offering of Elite Commercial REIT.

I am pretty sure that I used the money in my IBKR account for the conversion from SGD to GBP.

Thank you for your information. smile.gif

My Daily Activity Statement does not have a table titled "Interest".

The following tables are shown in my Daily Activity Statement, generated from IBKR website:
Net Asset Value
Mark-to-Market Performance Summary
Realized & Unrealized Performance Summary
Month & Year to Date Performance Summary
Cash Report
Open Positions
Forex Balances

Deposits & Withdrawal
Financial Instrument Information

Hi,

I've been searching, but feels like turning in circles.

What is the latest method to withdraw IBKR funds from USD back to Malaysia?

I understand that ibkr frowns upon conversion for non trade purposes.

So, from my understanding, is this the way?

Ibkr USD -> Wise USD : free x1 per month
Wise USD -> cimb SGD : forex + fees
Cimb SGD -> cimb MYR : forex

Thanks ahead.

shawnme IBKR frowns upon SGD->convert to USD/AUD etc->direct withdraw USD/AUD etc

if you deposit SGD, convert to USD for stocks, convert back to SGD for withdrawal, is acceptable

so if you deposited SGD to IBKR via FAST, you can withdraw back in SGD no issues (free 1x per month). after your funds have been deposited into CIMB sg, use internal transfer to withdraw back to CIMB m'sia during office hours

CIMB sg rates are very good

buffa CIMB my -> CIMB sg rate is bad. you check back the rates when you did S$1 e-KYC, market rate RM3.50 but CIMB MY wants RM3.54

and on an unrelated note..

Avoid at all cost. For now the best rate is duitnow and moneymatch (office hour time)

Last I got, cross border DuitNow for CIMB ain't working yet. Unless I misunderstood again.... which I won't be surprised. Haha.

I'm not even sure of CIMB MY or SG that's not working. Didn't have time to investigate further at the time of enquiry.

But in terms of CIMB MY rates.. Whoa.. You're right.

What's this duitnow? New APP or via bank? I am using WISE now, direct to IBKR. Rate around 0.5 to 0.75% higher than Google or XE rate. If convert to sgd then move to IBKR convert to USD (usd2 costs), depending on bank.

Duitnow is to sg banks. Saw some people posted here better rates than moneymatch. Downside is RM3k.

Hi guys, if i have capital in my malaysian brokerage a/c - thinking to diversify - as in holding less MYR, also diversify globally - is transfer to IBKR a good option?

May go for safer investment, or hold cash in these brokerage. Thinking bout Tiger Brokers too. Can keep in USD/SGD, but seems like holding USD gives interest, which SGD gives minimal. Love to get opinions.

Tiger uses ibkr in the background. Tiger have access to USD mmf which is giving 5%p.a. You don't get access to USD mmf with ibkr.

For me, no brainer to go with ibkr.
