fruitieThe last round when I went to Singapore, my phone could not be used at all to receive/make calls or sms.  Line completely went dead. That's why I thought this round, will need to buy roaming pass. Sigh! Really problematic.

Check with CS whether your line has international roaming enabled in the first place.

BTW, have you ever used prepaid digi sim while overseas? I'm trying to disable the roaming and domestic voicemail to avoid charges. But then there's confusion.

Digi CS says
*128#
1 My account
9 Account setting
3 Voicemail
99 More
5 Deactive voicemail/visual voicemail

While 1 of the forummer here last year mentioned as :
*128#
1 My account
9 Account setting
3 Voicemail
99 More
8 Other setup
6 VMS roaming off

Now am so confused as don't know which is the correct one. rclxub.gif

Both. The first one is normal voicemail. The second one is a "hidden" roaming voicemail they don't usually mention.

You need to enable roaming first, get that activated. From your experience above, your roaming is not turned on.
Check your MyDigi app > Settings > My Subscriptions > International Roaming, see if the toggle is turned on.

it seems your sim is unable register itself onto any of the networks in singapore.

sometimes, for some reason, the host telcos reject your sim and sometimes the host networks are unable to authenticate with the home telco (e.g. digi) to authorize you. you could try to reach out to cs for help.

there are known quirks and unpredictability when using your sim card abroad. to avoid these problems, why not get a local card? it makes very good sense if you are going visit the place frequently. prepaid sims in singapore are easily available.

roaming pass allows you to use your line abroad at a lower costs and it doesn't affect the ability to roam.

It might have been disabled by Digi or user unintentionally.

today, i  am going to share another technique on how to get RM10 2GB 30 days validity. This take advantage of DIGI Sunday Reload Promo

Disclaimer: some digi prepaid plan may not have this promo

1. Reload RM10
2. wait for  SMS "reload another RM10 and get free RM2 credit"
3. Reload another RM10 and get RM2 Free Credit
4. wait for  SMS "reload another RM10 and get free RM3 credit"
5. Reload another RM10 and get RM3 Free Credit
6. Now subscribe the addon RM15 2GB 30 days validity (You only spend RM10, because another RM5 is deducted from your free credit)

EDIT: of course, the RM10 topups, you can save more by:

-razerpay
-topup through Shopee by utilizing Shopeecoin
-Boost, get cashback shake
-Lazada voucher at Digi Rewards
-Lazada App, utilizing Lazada Credit from Lazada Group Play
-digi app, if i am not mistaken, reload rm 10 get RM0.50 credit
*
Inspired by this post, I made my super cheapskate attempts too and discover some interesting result laugh.gif
Tested using Digi Prepaid Campus plan (was RM0 before I reload), subscribing to RM28 4GB + unlimited call plan.

1. Reload RM10 (Touch'n'Go eWallet, random cashback promo -RM1.8, valid during 01 Aug - 31 Oct 2019)
2. Received SMS (reload another RM10 to get RM2)
3. Reload RM10 (Lazada, group play -RM2), get RM2 talktime credit
4. Received SMS (reload another RM10 to get RM3)
5. Suddenly received RM8 internet credit (not sure why)
6. Reload RM10 (Touch'n'Go eWallet, random cashback promo -RM1.4, valid during 01 Aug - 31 Oct 2019)*, get RM3 talktime credit too

At this stage, I have: RM30 base credit, RM5 talktime credit, RM8 internet credit

7. Digi deduct RM20 base credit + RM8 internet credit for RM28 plan

So I'm left with RM10 base credit, RM5 talktime credit
So I wondered can the talktime credit be used for AppStore purchase...?

8. App purchase in Apple AppStore (RM7.9), deduct RM5 talktime credit + RM2.9 base credit

So, in the end, left RM6.61 base credit (not sure why? maybe SST charge?).
Spent: RM30, cash back RM3.2 and lazada discount RM2 = RM24.8
Get: RM28 plan, RM7.9 app, RM6.61 leftover credit = RM42.51

So...
- * 6., somehow Touch'n'Go eWallet keep reject and refund my prepaid reload for 2nd time, I waited > 6 hours then try again, then suddenly can again.
- Talk-time credit can be used for AppStore/iTunes purchase (not sure loophole or not)
- Not sure how I got the RM8 internet credit, didn't receive any SMS prior.

I seen Shopee selling Digi Raja Video. Anyone using? It's rm15 per month. I think YouTube is 1mb unlimited. Data per month is 2gb? Works on local Malaysia? Seems to be indo? I think.

tympg Thanks. This digi is really sneaky. Only tell me the 1st one although I wanted both domestic and roaming voicemail to be disabled. My international roaming is on as per what I can see on my Digi apps. It has always been automatically on as its prepaid as per Digi rules.

kit2 Thanks. Any idea which Singapore telco sim card I should use for both data and calls/sms? Last time when I was in Singapore, I tried using digi sim for calls/sms and yoodo for data. Both failed. Yoodo sim card deactivated itself way before I reached Singapore (supposed to 'activate' it just before Singapore but could not do so). Digi could not use at all. Will be there for a week

Try register to Digi roaming partner in Singapore. They are Starhub and Singtel, I never have issue to use Digi Roam Like Home in Singapore.

What phone are you using your Digi prepaid card in?

Just have to scan for available network before choosing Starhub or Singtel, from the list that appears.

Note that 2G doesn't work in Singapore anymore, so you've to set your line to 3G, or 4G if you've subscribed to use data.

Any of them is fine. They all give free data for new activation.

If you can afford to pay more, get singtel.

If you want to *roam* abroad, then get starhub. one week of data costs around $8. It supports data roaming in China, India, Japan and South Korea without additional charges.

If you want value for money, get M1. The $5 card gives you free 500mb valid for 20 days and $15 2gb free for 120 days. Free data roaming in Hk and tw.

If you need to TopUp, do it from online shopping sites and get up to 30% discount.

My past experience of roaming has always been to just switch on the phone and let it automatically latch on to one of the telco's preferred partners. But if worse come to worst nothing happens after 5 minutes, then you might have to do a manual scan before selecting your network.

Assuming you're flying in, nowadays Singapore follows US aviation rules and you can switch on your phone the moment your plane touches down on the runway.

RDoe Redmi note 5 pro and note 6 pro. So I just go to the sim card and choose mobile networks to choose starhub or singtel?
