Ah.. I've AB for gold, so i can share abit my experience.
For gold u have to spray alot of layers to really see the effect. I think i sprayed like at least 5 layers. Can refer to WIP thread and check out my WZC biggrin.gif

for metallic green here's the advice i got:
1. Prime as usual
2. spray silver
3. spray clear green

There u have it smile.gif

there's Handpainting, Spray cans, gundam markers and AB.....
Handpainting and AB uses the same types like lacquer(oil-base) and acrylic(water-base) types.
Spray cans are mostly for large areas then u use handpainting...
for u situation, since u're new.. i would recommend u go for gundam markers 1st..
there are gold and metalic green markers available but u'll need to find them

gold marker is easy to find, for green one i have but i bought 1 set only got the green. wink.gif

Dun listen to Myky44 1st, no offense dude..
wat he is telling u is AB. AB stands for Air Brush which i assume u dun have one..
tat's y all the colors he mentioned are for AB which is not suitable for u.
For markers, i kno Cineleisure 1 of them shops do sell 1 by 1 separately and other places usually sell in 1 set..

ok he used Flat top coat to do the work!

He is not using the brush to clean it! He is doing more touch up with dry brushing technique! First he soak the brush with ink then he tries to make it as dry as possible then he brush the corner of the shoulder piece then he topcoat it again!

masking wont give those camo effect...
but usually ppl use sticky tack or something like a play-doh to do the effect

actually this is the easy way...
and the hard/sifu level they always do using ab and control the thickness of the paint flow and slowly do the camo pattern on the kit surface...

this is hard to explain as i need to find a pic example

weathering marker! U can refer back to a few page before for wat the weathering marker look like!

AB can do camouflage, u can do it with doll to cover up or maybe straight shoot! I tried before but the effect not so good since back then i did have enough color and material to do so! my ACGUY was a failure.......may tried again on the upcoming Tieren 1/100!!! This time will go challenging this:

For the camo i've seen how it was done before. Looks easy from outside, but can see it's very difficult actually! As VincC said, it's all in controlling the flow of paint from AB.

Got a friend who does it for his tanks. Damn chunted.

Last time I got do "market research" for AB. The "cheap" AB set mostly from China. And the shop not giving u any warranty. So, if u plan to play Gunpla for another 5 years or longer. Collect money and buy a good AB set. If not, handpaint lorr. Some sifu here also use Spray Can and HP. And done a really good job.
