Is it essential to apply Mr. Surfacer first? What if i AB the colours straight on without applying mr surfacer? What would happen?

One more thing to ask biggrin.gif, what to do to fix loose joints? I've tried danny choo's method on applying white glue, it works on certain joints though. But i got problem with Wing Zero Custom's Wing. Any ideas/advises?

hi everyone,i just bought myself a wing gundam lately,i know is kinda very late model but is not bad right that gundam...i just completed it but don't have any idea on how to paint it or what to paint, really facing a dilemma,so sorry for my noobness,i just wanted some constructive opinion from any sifu out there to clear my doubt,it will be best if i can make it shine,haha...really greed..

I'm not exactly a sifu tongue.gif. But to Air Brush (AB) your kit is the best way if u wanna custom colour your kit. The problem is just whether u can afford the whole system, or can u get any shop to let u use. i found a shop which let me use for free rclxms.gif

There's alot to do if u wanna recolour your kit.
1.First u gotta dismantle everything. It's esssential, i think.
2. Next cut then sand off those plastic bits sticking out (the results of those that u cut from the runners).
3. AB the parts with primer. This is so that the paint u wanna aplly will stick better.
4. Separate the parts into the colour schemes u wanna apply, i.e. all reds one side, all blues one side, etc.
5. Let dry, u might wanna reapply a few layers of paint.

Things to note: u might wanna separate your parts and label them; legs, head, waist, etc. Keep everything in a separate container. Plan a colour scheme. U can snap a photo of your kit, then utilise photoshop.

This the details that i know of. Maybe i missed out some info. Hope this helps!

hi i tottaly new new to making gundam ( super noob ).... i buy my first gundam at the recent GACC08...(1/144 HG). i read some of the post here,
the question i want to ask is...

to get the pointy plastic off after cutting it from the runner, you have to use sand paper right? doesnt that going to scratch the model?

how can we cut the plastic from the runner without having the white spot?

im using knife to cut those plastic from the runner, does cutting it using cutter will make any difference?

and what is prime?

sorry for having so many question...

If use sand paper, ya it'll scratch your model. So usually, use sand paper only if u're going to paint or recolour your Gunpla. Otherwise, u can use a nail clipper (I do! laugh.gif ), and try to cut the 'pointy' part as flat as possible. Of cos this wouldn't be as flat as using sand paper. But this way u wouldn't scratch your model

Priming is a solution which is applied to the model, so that during Air Brushing (a method to recolour your model), the paint will stick better, and more even.

No worries this is the place to ask Q's. I've learnt alot from here as well! Thanks to all the sifus here notworthy.gif

I wanna ask , if painting gundam which already spray with surfacer 1500 , is that use water base type or Mr hobby (paint + thinner) ? Which produce nicer color with brush? and i wanna make some weathering too ~ hope someone can teach me ~tq

I'm not sure, but for me, after surfacer use Mr hobby colour+thinner.

grey primer/surfacer ab le the colour will be darker.white means ligther

most sifu if do like shading they would prime the kit using white one, then shade the adges using grey surfacer.so when ab a colour on it,u can see the shading on the side

Ooohh... Tht sounds like an idea! Maybe next time i can try as well!

Guess in Zero's case it's forgivable la. Either he torture the spidey or the spidey will torture him, by slowly creeping towards him, then run around his just-sprayed-gunpls, leaving trails all over the plastics and floor.

Haha!

Those are blu sticky tacks. Remember back in primary school, when the teacher use some sticky stuff to stick manila kads on the black board?
I think stationary shops have them
