Yups, there are chew sticks and hard snacks produced for hamsters. But not all would chew these.... when they get bored, they will chew the wire bars of cages to get out or as a habit.

Some Syrians are vocal when they are in a new environment..... only be worried when it stops eating, looks lethargic, and have dull looking fur and eyes.
You won't overfed. Storing food is called Hoarding.... he is just keeping them in a safe place for later.
