It'll take some effort to earn their trust... especially if you do not get from a home breeder... i still have scars on my fingers from '99 whistling.gif

Added on October 12, 2007, 11:19 pmWell, one scar actually, no thanks to the old petshop at petaling street... one of the dwarfs i got from them bit me and won't let go...

hmn. if just to put the hamster and let him play with you, i think its the owner responsibity to tame them. my syrian seems fine now, quite active at night until like 6 in the morning, then he will go to zzzz...

i cannot remember that clearly anymore but I do think that i avoided filling feeding dishes with water as they sometimes get overturned easily and 'banjir' my bedding and also sometimes droppings and bits of bedding end up in the water... but syrians are housed alone correct, no mad cop and thief chasing sessions right?

hmn.. yup i only keep one syrian, was thinking should i let it breed or not cause i not sure if i have the time to do so. i did have the problem of having bits of bedding end up in the water, but the water i change once evey 2-3days, wonder if is all right to be like tat. as for droppings he did throw his poop at one corner left lying around the cage was kuaci shells..

Cage is always like that.... that is why better not use cage, use tank mah.

You can go Pets Wonderland and find the wood chew sticks.... or go Pet Safari and get those hamster treats that look like sticks.

If you breed, you must think of how many tanks you can have. Coz Syrians are solitary and you have to test the female if she is on heat then only can breed. And if she is not ready, she could hurt the male badly.... so do research first before breeding.

Anyway, you cannot leave the water in a bowl and change every 2 to 3 days. You have to change everyday if in a bowl coz bacteria breeds in still waters, and with wood shavings around, the bacteria build up is higher. This is why use bottle. If you put a bowl and bottle in the cage, of course it would drink from the bowl 1st. So train it. Use bottle, it is healthier and cleaner.

The best treats are of course natural treats and dog biscuits.... but if say hamster treats, do not go for those with sugar or honey as some hamsters are sensitive to sugar, can get diabetes... don't go for cheap treats too. Look for those made of seeds.... I can't remember the brand but there are treats that are long in shaped that's made of different seeds....

syirian hamster is easy to learn their habits & life.U just concentrate around 2 week with her, then u can know everything about her.
and keep reading in internet, and also ask the expect if the condition is not normal or weird.

Rite now, it is around 1 month i bought syirian hamster from nezu, and i think i already know all what she want to do and what is her feveret routine.

1 eye closed? Try to clean the eye using wet tissue.
