u dont need it to sit for a year. within few days can see interest on it. do realize interest deposit into it after few days.
when want, i just transfer from simple to my portfolio. dont bother about how long it take. most important is
1. got interest on simple
2. can transfer in and out when require.

start use simple, then u will know how good it is

Received an email titled: What do you think of StashAway so far?

Thanks for investing with StashAway. If you have a moment to spare, we’d love to get your feedback on a quick question. You just have to select one of the numbers below. And, if you have more to share with us, you can include that in the next window.

just deposit like rm100 to test the cash thingy...2.4%... hm...and i read its actually invest in eastspring funds (correct kah?)... looking at that funds performance is yearly like 3.x% ... so i guess is kinda put in SA with 2.4% though they then invest into Eastpring..... if gotten 3.x% percent then SA give us the promised 2.4% and earn 1.x% out of it.... not too bad since SA can cash in/out anytime as oppose trust funds... at least better than FD...
*
2.4% is Simple projected, can be higher or lower.

Eastpring give 3.x% less net expense ratio less next OPR cut (maybe), then it will be +/- 2.4%

your calculation is wrong eh. if you didn't withdraw your principle your interests will be compounded daily. so assuming 2.03% p.a. effective interest rate is 3.7. much higher than FD since FD is only compounded annually.
*
Ahh you are right. The amount in Simple is not updated daily though. Seems like every other 2-3 days.

Simple will update when Eastpring NAV change. Since NAV change within 2-3 days, then Simple just mirror it.

Simple put money into Eastspring Investments Islamic Income Fund
see some past historical relationship trend of Eastspring Investments Islamic Income Fund with OPR rate.

so now what do you think?
simple will lower the rate?
(by how much margin that can be a concern to you?)

I prefer invest in OPUS income fund or money market myself.
I allocation for SAMY is risk 10%, 20%, 30% n 36%.
Risk 10% is for me to accumulate my emergency fund. 😁

Risk 20% expect to invest 5 year no matter up or down, after 5 year baru decide whether go to DIY UT or anything else

Risk 30% n 36% for my retirement planning, just weekly invest, open 2 bcoz wanna comparing both risk 😁.

My main is risk 10%, try to accumulate emergency fund with a few year, this few year baru learn financial planning, late a bit. 😢

If you are able to utilise ASB ~5% annualised returns (if youre Bumiputera), would you dump your savings in ASB or still go for SAMY 22% for savings?

Contemplating whether to withdraw all my ASB and invest in my 22% portfolio.

By the way just a fun update as of 4th July 2020 - 5 months (Start investing 19th Feb 2020 - DCA)

Portfolio risk 22%

MWR profit 8.7%

USD

MWR +16.06%
TWR -3.61%

MYR

MWR +15.06%
TWR -1.01%

If you are bumi and have access to ASB , I really don't recommend to put emergency fund in stashaway. Unless you set aside a portion for emergency fund in ASB, the balance then could be invested. The emergency fund is up to individual, but for me it has always been at least 2 years of comittment and expenses. Any additional fund on top this will be invested somewhere else.

Reasoning is if you deposit let say 200k in ASB, you will still be able to withdraw at least 200k in the foreseeable future if needed.

Good point. My plan is to have 6 months emergency savings in ASB. and full swing on SAMY at least until SP500 reaches pre covid level. After that, its 50/50 ASB and SAMY.
