Just dont think too much. First time is always the hardest. smile.gif. After a while you will get the "hang" of it. If not try going off peak hours like dinner/lunch time.

Just pretend everyone are transparent and ignore them. For south east asia people like us definitely not used to it as we don't do that often. But once you in there for 10 minutes, you'd walk around like locals cause you really got nothing to hide. What you have, others have too. laugh.gif

Also no cares if you are naked or not and you will feel comfortable. Was very use to it when I was there that I just walk around naked in the gym changing rooms. But on the other hand, I am still not brave enough to go to a German sauna which you are expected to be naked on its mix!

Dear Japan Veteran Travellers..

May I ask, how do you deal with public/shared bathrooms in Japan ?

I am visiting Fuji area, and since there are very limited accomodations.. I had to choose a accomodation with a Shared Bathroom (open shower area) , right next to their Onsen ...

My wife and I are really not sure what to think, and how this will go... I am currently doing my research online about their etiquette , and .... How do you Malaysians handle Shared Bathing in Japan ? Going in naked to bath is quite unnerving ! lol... Please advice ..

My wife was thinking of wearing her simple swimwear to shower (not entering Onsen) ... But is that rude? Or can we just quickly shower with any swimsuit and get out quickly? LOL sorry if this is a funny question....  Sumimasen... T

Is it Kawaguchiko?

There are so many normal hotels in Kawaguchiko with attached bathroom

Hi All,

Will be at Tokyo this 22/3 to 28/3 with wife and 4yo kid. Need your help to review my preliminary itinerary (Mostly copy paste from suggested itinerary in the front page).

Very lacking of kid activities admittedly. May include DisneySea and Ueno Park into the itinerary, or is there any better recommendations?

Thanks.

DAY 1
22/3/19 Touch down at Narita 0715am.

FRIDAY Take Narita Express to hotel at Shinigawa to deposit luggage
Shinjuku:
- Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (Free observation deck on 42nd Floor; tourism office on 1st floor (info counter)/ Nearest station: Tochomae/都庁前 (Oedo Subway Line)
- Shinjuku Gyoen
- Taiyaki Wakaba Shinjuku たいやき わかば (Wakaba started in 1948 as a sweets shop. They use their own original taiyaki iron and even their plates have carefully-written words on them)
Odaiba
- Fuji TV: FOC (depends on preference in visiting this place)
- Chibi Maruko Chan Café
- Odaiba - DECKS (afternoon): Enjoy afternoon view.

For transport, I would get
1. Narita Express return ticket
2. 3 day + 3 day + 1 day Pass for Tokyo Metro
3. Hakone day pass

Are these passes able to cover all my transport needs in Tokyo?

Tokyo Metro pass doesn't cover 2 areas:

1. Disneyland (JE Keiyo Line)
2. Odaiba (Yurikamome or Rinkai Line)

first time travel to tokyo with 4yo? if yes, i suggest 1 set (2 pcs of 72h metro pass for both u and ur wife) is enough, buy suica card n reload, try not to save on jr lines coz most place is more convenient with jr. if u take tk metro, it going to waste ur time (don't get me wrong, if no kids is fine.. maybe my daughter nags me too much). add on, try to reduce ur destination coz u are traveling with stroller, some places will have hiccups with long stairs especially subway. ur 4yo will be sleeping and it will slow u down. if u didn't bring stroller, u going to be winner.

Yup first timer here.

Yup no plan to bring stroller until your statement "u going to be winner". Why so?

Not sure if robot restaurant is such a good idea for 4 year old kid. Or kabukicho for that matter cos many of the eateries will be cramped, noisy, smoky izakayas.

because the whole itinerary was a copy & paste from Page 1 Post 1 wink.gif

ntdote what's shared on Pg1 was merely a guideline. Each person has to adjust it based on their liking, travelling style and companion(s). Don't follow exactly because i can guarantee you won't be able to visit all the places. Pick and choose your priorities, add in your own attraction/ must-do.

That's right! If your family consists of elderly and/or children, there's a lot more prep needed. Just screenshot the Embassy's info and keep it - never know when it can come in handy. Also check out some basic know-hows on what to do during emergency. Japan is prone to natural disaster so the trip could turn up eventful when you least expected it. Thus don't over rely on card, as electronic device may fail during those times (eg. machine unable to accept credit/ debit card etc). Keeping spare cash with you at all times is crucial.

LOLL it's not on Page 1 laugh.gif don't rely 100% on device. Japan is still quite cash-based. Mom and pop shops don't accept cards. Then again, isn't cash always the number 1 backup anywhere? hmm.gif

he is going to spend 1 whole day at disneyland...and it subway pass doesn't cover that route, even if it does it won't be worth it
but for NE'X tickets is ok to buy return tickets
