i wud think u can get it installed but doesn't work well, can't navigate properly.

becos it was built for ATV and yr white box isn't.

i say that becos my regular android boxes dun work well with unifitv, hard to navigate; only ATV devices incl ATV TVs work well, very well, in fact.

they will let u continue with what hv, no contract.

but u get no new STB, no new router, nothing... like me!

Unifi is pushing us to go ATV, pay/free to use Lionsgate, iQiyi, etc...

Astro will punish u if u use ATV devices becos they dun allow them to work with Astrogo (only certain regular android boxes can work).

Actually u can remove fox+ , dimsum, iflix, or even unifi tv apps. Already removed mine long time ago using adb command.

Only a single USB-C connection, so if you want to add on storage, it's highly unlikely unless you then invest some more hundreds of RM in a decent USB-C hub that can also provide enough power to the Chromecast.

SpoTV will be showing MotoGP, but only will be added to UnifiTV starting on the 14th of October. So you will miss the US GP, unless you tune in to Astro, which will carry SpoTV as soon as the 1st of October

Astro will also be carrying F1 on Arena 2 (should be free to stream on Sooka) and Supersport 5

"other android boxes" - they have been around for >10 years... some rm150, some rm3K - they cater to diff customer segments, diff needs.

there is no perfect box that suits everyone.

Talking about Chinese subtitles, like for the recent channel launches on Astro, especially HBO Hits, HBO Family, BBC Lifestyle, Paramount...

Some netizens started to make noise on Astro fb page, complaining why those new channels:
- doesn't have Malay subtitles?
- why only Chinese subtitles is available?
- aren't you forget that Bahasa Malaysia is bahasa kebangsaan (national language)?
... and many more unpleasant provoking words.

If you guys still remember many years ago when Astro firstly launches Fox Family Movies channel, they actually offered both English audio and Mandarin audio dub.
Many Malay viewers were outraged on astro fb page, asking why there's Mandarin audio dub but don't have Malay audio dub? And whatever unpleasant provoking words you can think of, they've said it all.
Eventually, Astro removed the Mandarin audio dub on Fox Family Movies channel, therefore until today, Fox Family Movies channel on Astro is only available in English audio.

Back to Unifi TV, BBC Lifestyle channel doesn't offer any subtitle tracks at all.
Is it because they know that since there's only Chinese track available, so to avoid backlash from the Malay community, TM decides not to provide that Chinese subtitle track at all, hence making BBC Lifestyle channel on Unifi TV to have no subtitle track?
Does it means, as long that particular TV channel doesn't Malay subtitles, then they shall not provide Chinese subtitle track regardless, to prevent public backlash?

So what can we conclude here?

I saw some Android box that come with BT controller and they are quite easy to navigate around rm400 - 500

TM just replaced my silver STB with the white one.

I have a Chromecast with Google TV. It's pretty good (and pretty small too for what it does) *edit: ok la maybe not as small as those TV sticks, but smaller than UPB*

Can sideload apps (installed 1.1.1.1 WARP, Peacock, Disney+ international) all working well.

Also installed Unifi tv and BBC player, works too. Most importantly, Netflix works lol

i have google tv too, but no need sideload. you need create gmail usa than sign in. All google play store usa you can have it.
