So TM keep removing channels without adding any new ones or reducing price and the last time I checked a few Chinese HD channels are still in SD quality. By the way, where's the free Netflix they mentioned when TM made deal with Netflix back in August 2017? Have a Netflix entry added in  VOD>Purchased>MyPackages section of the playTV app but no way to access.
*

Plot twist. TM be like,
"We hope that customers will forget and keep quiet about that"

Must be some agreement/deals that did not manage to put an ink on it lo...

What are the "hidden" Unifi VDSL plans that the customer don't need to pay extra for Unifi TV service?
I do aware that the 10Mbps Unifi VDSL for RM129/month bundles with Unifi TV, and customer cannot terminate it until Unifi TV contract ends after 1 year and remain Internet service.

I heard that the 30Mbps RM89/month offer that doesn't come with Unifi TV is only available if customer visit to the nearest TMpoint in his/her area. Anyone could confirm this further?

Besides this 30Mbps RM89/month plan, what else?

Remember, I'm referring to Unifi VDSL copper service (SUBB), not fibre.

i keep getting error for Hypptv the moment i change the channel, it always pop up a message written request time out , error code901004 then the tv shown back to menu page without the tv program. i have to switch on and off the STB again then i can continue watching the same channel. after a while if i change channel the error pop up again.

happens after change modem + router to upgrade to 100mbps during the "free speed upgrade" after PH won election
*

You got to file a complaint to TM about this. They'll assist you from there. Have you tried perhaps, use another LAN cable to connect your Unifi box to router's LAN 4 port?
If still persists, maybe they'll just replace a new Unifi TV STB for you.

You can choose to have a live chat with them here:
https://unifi.com.my/campaign/chat/unifichat.html
Select chat with live agent. The unifi bot just answers those FAQ only.
>They'll be asking you some basic info, like either your Unifi house phone number or account number, and account holder name.
So it is better you get ready to have these info before you start the live chat or call customer service.

epg came back 1st, then only the programs.

*only Bloomberg is not back, but still can catch it on iflix.
*

...and on Astro too.

The one on iflix is different than the one show on Astro... Especially the look of the channel.
I'm not sure what TV channel feed is iflix getting from. It doesn't seem like the original Asia feed of Bloomberg.

Hmm... I thought Unifi TV channels only use 30 fps while Astro uses 50 fps.  confused.gif

Malaysia uses 50Hz system, so both Unifi TV and Astro are on 50Hz video refresh rate.

QUOTE(DValentine @ Oct 23 2019, 08:51 PM)
both got confused

fps is frame rate, Hz is refresh rate

for tv, it's using interlace(i) scan instead of progressive(p)

i have no idea what is the frame rate for unifitv
*

No, I'm not confused.

QUOTE(AV_2018 @ Oct 23 2019, 09:15 PM)
Yup. Malaysian broadcasting standard is 25FPS/50Hz interlaced for 576 and 1080 resolutions. Unifi TV, astro and MYTV STBs all output at 1080i50 by default. I don't know what framerate they use to encode the international channels but all local channels are 25FPS/50Hz.
*

In TV broadcasting standards worldwide, doesn't matter SD, HD or UHD, there is 50Hz (known as PAL) and 60Hz (known as NTSC) for the time being. Malaysia's uses following the PAL 50Hz standard (commonly known as Europe/UK standards). And it uses interlace instead of progressive, which are either 1080i50 or 1080i60. But for Malaysia, it is always 1080i50.

So all channels on Astro and Unifi TV are in 50i Interlaced (equivalent to 25fps in Progressive), regardless of SD or HD (576i or 1080i).

If the TV channels they get from the channel provider (such as via C band satellite) is in 1080i50, pay TVs will encode it as 1080i50 as it is.
However, if the channel is originally in 1080i60 (example SETi channel on Unifi TV, or CTI Asia, KBS World on Astro), pay TVs will force encode it as 1080i50, so you will see inconsistent motion on those channels.

Once I also noticed some of the channels were not in full HD.
No matter what settings I used, still cannot get full HD.
Then I noticed the STB was not connected in 1080p when it boot up.
It was booted up with 576i only.
[attachmentid=10339711]

Have to report to TM on the issue.
Don't know what they did, the STB booted up with 1080p.
*

Press home button to exit Unifi TV app, then go Settings.
There, go to Display and change the resolution settings.

Indeed, not all channels are in HD on unifi TV. But channels like Fox Movies should be in HD...

Also, on the menus of Unifi TV app (as shown as your photo attached), go to settings (gear icon), then change the "Aspect ratio" setting to 16:9.

QUOTE(JuneResources @ Oct 29 2019, 09:37 AM)
Take it simple.
If they think can't earn any profit, then close shop and give the fiber service to another service provider.

This is not an excuse to give like this shit reason and giving subscriber for poor quality.
Why keep laying there still want to do this kind of business?

If they can't handle well, then give the fiber license to other telco everyone in Malaysia. I believe others can handle well than TM.
But not just controlling by monopoly and gonna to say 5G service also control by TM.
*
QUOTE(kkm @ Oct 29 2019, 11:14 AM)
Not that I'm siding with TM and their inefficiencies, but do you know how much it costs to lay and maintain a nationwide fibre network? It's only a monopoly because no one else will do it.
People like Time will rather run fibre to lucrative locations like condos and business premises and others will go the wireless route which cannot handle the high density demand areas.
*

Hah, when TM has control on almost everything, from part of nationwide fibre network, to government services, and now allegedly even the upcoming 5G spectrum particularly on entire 700MHz band, I wonder are they doing this because this would give them a sense of security?

Is TM being stubborn, or afraid of losing? They're like living in a delusion that they are the No. 1 best internet service and best network infrastructure in Malaysia.
If it's not because of the previous government are protecting them, I don't think they would wake up by now, or maybe now they haven't fully wake up yet.

Don't talk about no other ISPs can build a nationwide network infrastructure as big as TM first. Indeed, maintaining a nationwide fibre network is very expensive, so why bite more than you can chew? Why make yourself so big if you can't handle it well, as if you're obligated to do so?

Like it or not, they got to taste of their own medicine now. People knows that TM is losing a lot of money and not making much desirable profit, padan muka lo...
That's the consequences for playing monopoly business and being greedy for so long.

Hah, they find that they couldn't target Mandarin/Cantonese speaking audiences, so if continue to extend its broadcast rights for those channels would not earn them any profit and benefit, so rather cease it to save cost and replace with other channels, like English channels.

Update: Only TV3 and ntv7 were HD upgraded. While 8TV and TV9 will follow the suit sooner.
*

Out of the 2 HD channels from Media Prima, they choose to upgrade NTV7 to HD? Seriously it's just shopping almost whole day...

I would think it's better if they prioritise on TV3 and 8TV since it airs more nice programmes, and viewership is higher too.
NTV7 and TV9 is basically a good platform for their CJ Wow Shop only...
