Streaming Apps is available at Mibox S.
Only issue is don't expect the video quality specially Unifi TV app
compare with White Box.
Viu in 1080 but quality but not as clear in full HD
Netflix quality is the best. Currently UHD package share account.
*
that's what i wud expect as mibox s is google/netflix certified.

quality... right... we know... silver/white boxes are true STBs using VLAN, better PQ, which is why i refuse to change! biggrin.gif

UPB and other ATV devices surely lower PQ but a better TV may give slightly better.

my TVs output is no as good as the silver STB but then again, for casual viewing, i can accept... + more convenient, easier navigation.

For the price it's selling, the MeCool KM2 is a better choice. While both seems similar, the KM2 has newer chipset and operating system

whether this or that, i think people will be unhappy to spend rm300 or so on an ATV device just to be able to stream those free apps.

what happens is there will be people coming up with hacked/modified apk versions to run on regular android boxes which most people wud have.

At the end of the day it depends if the ease of use is worth the extra money. While they might be pricier, ATV devices has a much better UI that is catered for remote control, as well as the ability to chromecast. I have a couple of colleague that owned a normal android box changed to an ATV device after using mine since it's easier.
And it's not like it's much more expensive than an Android Box either. A Mi Stick or Mecool KD1 are only around RM150ish now.

Gonna complain to mcmc if the white stb cant be used to stream unifi tv program.

They should make it work or give another stb for free, paying for ultimate pack i expect to get better experience not for them to give downgraded channel or hv to buy another tv box at customers own cost

if a user is mainly using ATV apps, ATV device is certainly better.

i do not have any ATV box but the smart ATV TVs are very nice to use, and getting better.

for users doing other things like NAS, LAN, local playback HD audio, BDMV, DV, etc... they will prefer boxes with advanced capabilities.

those topics discussed in other threads in other sections.

so, "to each his own" rules! biggrin.gif

i agree that they hv messed up big time with so many blardy packages with all kinds of prices until they dunno how to close and consolidate them! laugh.gif

this is one industry where they r allowed to do all kinds of differential pricing for diff product offerings.

really, nothing much we can do unless they offer those "grandfathered" old packages something good enuf to change to - free box, renewed warranty, etc.

they keep telling us to pay to change to UPB but no, i won't!

AFAIK latest UnifiTV box doesn't use IPTV / dedicated line anymore, they use standard internet line.

So meaning wifi just connect and go or LAN connection within internet line, not IPTV port. No any special setting requirement.

Correct me if wrong.

New roadmap post fox channels shutdown is out.
Since i already have Amazon prime subbed, want to see if i can use the tiny white box to play it.

LionGates Play and Disney+ Hotstar may only add Chinese subtitles once they have launched in countries like Hong Kong and Taiwan.

How about Chromecast with Google TV? The price is just a bit higher than Mecool KM2... That one is also Google/Netflix certified.

Most of the shows on Disney+ Hotstar doesn't have Chinese subtitles because Disney+ Hotstar isn't launch in Chinese speaking countries like Hong Kong and Taiwan...

But Hong Kong and Taiwan will be getting Disney+ version instead of Disney+ Hotstar, isn't it? If yes, then does it means Malaysian Chinese or Mandarin speaking audience in Malaysia, will never be getting Chinese subtitles on most of the shows on Disney+ Hotstar then? 🤣🤣🤣

In that case, then they have to use Disney+ account (not Hotstar) and then connect VPN to neighbouring countries like Singapore, to be able to enjoy Chinese subtitles on almost all shows on Disney+ ?

Ironically, Malay subtitles aren't available on Disney+ platform, but Disney+ Hotstar has it sweat.gif

Why so weird one? Why not Disney+ Hotstar just "pinjam" over the Chinese subtitles tracks from Disney+ platform, and then solve the "no Chinese subtitles" issue once and for all?

A decent device indeed. Heck I think some seller in Lazada are selling it around KM2's price nowadays. I do see people complain that the Google TV launcher (it's not using Android TV default launcher) can be quite full of adverts.
