In this case I gotto switch over to Unifi box to watch the ruby package and switch back to the Tx3 box for other shows.
This tx3 box is not IPTV ? Can watch astro TVB series ?
I am so lost in all these boxes...dunt know what is to what usage. So sorry, an extreme noob here.

the unifi STB is only good for unifitv channels.
but the quality is the best u can get.
so, yes, u should stick to STB to enjoy the PQ, esp the HD channels - becos this is streamed via the STB with dedicated bandwidth.
u will probably not like the PQ if u watch the same channels on another box via app becos it is rather poor IPTV.

a separate box is used for other apps although u can use playtv@unifi app for the unifitv channels - quality lower as said.
a separate box allows u to do everything else - youtube HD/4K, netflix (in SD only typically), astrogo, hbo go, iflix... all other android apps under the sun.
"TVB series", it can be live tv or VOD.
if u have an astro (with chinese/TVB pack) subscriber's astrogo id/pw, u can use the legit app on the box and watch them.
if not, u can try some other apps that might give the same but may not be complete or not totally reliable - becos they are illegit and free.

I would like to get some clarifications before I sign up for Unifi 100mbps. Currently I am on Astro Maxis 10 mbps bundle & would like to migrate to Unifi.
When my TP-Link wall plug range extender is switched on, Astro IPTV automatically disconnects.

I have just purchased Tenda AC18 dual band wifi router. Internet is working & even the back rooms are having good internet connection without the use of any range extender. After installing the router. I found out that it is not compatible with Astro IPTV. Astro IPTV gets disconnected 2 minutes when I switch it on, displaying "Signal Unavailable (NCNA). Switch to another channel & it runs for another 2 minutes before it disconnects again.
Ethernet cables are plugged into Router's Port 4 & Astro's network port.
Contacted Tenda technician & Astro IPTV but nothing solved. Astro claims both Tenda Router & Tp-Link range extender are not compatible.

Does anyone subscribe to Unifi TV using their own router without encountering any problems? If so, any specific settings need to be performed? If not possible, I don't think there is any reason to pay more for the TV media box as the only reason is I would like to watch local TV channels on HD.

unifi 100mbps:
there are 2 plans, one with STB and one w/o the STB (use app only on yr own devices).

Unifi's STB is configured to work with the Unifi router at port #4, no worries there.
if u do not use that router, use yr own, it depends on the router.
Tenda, u shud ask in Tenda thread.
Asus, just about all of them will work with port #4, just plug it in, no need extra work.

if u go for the no STB plan, u need a box that can do playtv@unifi app... not all boxes can.
the picture quality with app is much lower than that with STB; the SD channels are especially poor.
note unifitv/playtv channels are not at all same as astro, u may not like the change.
however, if u can get id/pw from another subscriber, u can use astrogo app and get same channels but lower quality.
astrogo, like playtv@unifi does not work on all boxes; u gotta get the right one:

Is there any English channel with English subtitles? I couldn't find one yet.. didn't try all yet..

Even auto-subtitle one like in youtube also ok..
I thought unifi tv have English subtitle for English channel.. want to help my foreign member learn to listen to English... these native English speaking is quite fast for a beginner.. a bit disappointed if don't have because that was my primary reason of subscribing to unifi tv..

the apk works on android 5, 6 ,7 ,8.

unless device is very unique, will work.

make sure u r using tmapad apk and not tmaphone apk.

and use wifi, ethernet will NOT work.

Hello guys,

I need some advice on why the white HyppTV STB suddenly cannot get the IP address. Other devices have no issues to connect to the internet. Attached are some screenshots on the STB network tests.

The WIFI is ON and LAN is connected to port 4 on the D-LINK (Model Name: DIR-842) router. I tried an old STB from Streamyx days and it can get the IP but had issues on configuring the username/password. TM says need to rebind so cannot use the old STB. I have restarted all devices. TM want to charge Rm53 for sending someone over.

Anything I can do for this STB to get the IP address ? Thank you.




Update: Fixed by changing a new STB.

each hyppbox is binded to one account.
if u use a diff box, it will not work, u need TM to do it for you.

it does not use the "normal" unifi for internet; it has separate dedicated unifi bandwidth.
works only with LAN port 4.
some people somehow made it work via wifi but u will then be using the common bandwidth, not the allocated one.

bottomline, if the box + account are not original, u want to change, u will have to call/pay them to bind them again.

basically we are doomed to one devices per user

u can watch unifi tv with firefox v52 only. please don't use firefox the latest version.

i can used firefox version 51 and version 52 only. can't used the latest version.

Of late I also encountered this problem.
I also noticed this icon at the bottom right corner of the tv.


Now I have to wait for about 80 seconds after I start up the STB.
After the 80 seconds wait, everything is back to normal.
Not sure what is the cause.

The STB needs some time to start-up the system. Just wait for the yellow icon with the "!" symbol to disappear before launching the live-TV mode.
