Tanix tx3mini and tanix tx5max, can install direct from playstore.

I was able to browse it, watched the 1-2 min trailers.

Cant get full... becos my ID subscription has no movies pack.

Can see the movies and tv shows titles, hbo hd live channel, download option, etc.

Video quality good, HD, like Netflix HD.

i know tx3 mini can passthrough dtshdma, ddtruehd but no idea if it can do dtsx and dd atmos.

Tx3 Max is only RM 136.81 according to one seller in Lazada.

Is this capability tied to player, in this case Kodi ? Likely cannot get that if using other players.

Those who have the necessary audio hardware can just buy it and research and tell us.

see, when it comes to boxes, 90% users go for video, not audio.
me, i need the audio part.. i find it strange why anyone wud want 4k, hdr, dv, etc... yet aac2.0 audio?!
even dd/dts5.1 does no justice... u gotta watch big videos with big audio, at least ddtruehd or dtshdma.
if not, better stick with 1080p or 720p.

i can tell u it is HARD to find boxes that can pass thru lossless audio.
there are only a handful that can do it; most boxes can't, can only do lossy dd/dts.

the ones that can do lossless audio go back a decade - ac ryan, himedia can do this, yes, 8-10 yr old boxes from them can, and still do.
which means today's box makers don't see a need for HD lossless audio capability, sees video as lot more impt.
u know this beelink gt-king at rm450... can't do lossless audio, no use to me.

player.. only a handful of box makers have their own native player, and if they do, typically offer all of it... incl dtsx, dd atmos.
incl himedia, egreat, zidoo.
others typically have a shitty native player or count on kodi, mx, vlc.
some do a better job than others, e.g. shieldtv, minix using (customized) kodi.
the rest... some ok, some not... touch n go.

as for tanix, i do not like what tx3 mini can do with full bluray playback - alto it can do dtshdma/ddtruehd, the video is jerky, no good.
i am hoping tx3 MAX will do better... hesitant to buy at rm140, but will take the risk if closer to rm100, give it a try.
tx5 max at rm240 is overall excellent... all files incl biggest bluray play smoothly BUT... alas, only dd/dts... this is my frustration.

if only some box maker using s905x2 or s922x can give me what i am looking for for <rm400!!

Simple, because audio is very intrusive. Most people's houses has got neighbors or even fellow family members who will be annoyed by audio from unsolicited places.

From what I know there is very little difference between tx3 mini and max, maybe just the Bluetooth. If you find tx3 mini bad in video, most likely it will be bad in tx3 max.

and that is why i am reluctant to pay rm140 for it just to try.

I'm still new to android tv box & I plan to buy a tx3mini hoping to watch unifi playtv on TV.
But I still need to confirm certain issues.

Can I watch premium unifi playtv on tx3mini because my unifi don't have stb?

if yr unifi pack does not come with STB, the only way to watch playtv is with yr own device.
u just need the id and pw provided by them for this purpose.
what u can get with that id/pw depends on what pack u paid, aneka, varnam, ruby, ultimate... i m not sure if the pack names have changed...
by "premium", i think u mean the biggest pack, ultimate.
sure u can get all of them on playtv, but don't expect the highest quality... they are not as good compared to STB.

tx3mini at rm120 or less is probably the cheapest box there is that can do playtv@unifi and astrogo.
best to get the 2/16gb model rather than the cheaper 1/8gb.
u just need to close the root under settings, install playtv@unifi (tablet) from playstore.

If I am not mistaken, another requirement to run Unifi without error is to keep Android WIFI setting turned on even if you are using LAN connection.

This is what I understand of the earlier posts written from the tx3 expert (sorry forgotten the expert name :-p) and AVFAN.

Something else I found out :-

And NEVER NEVER, Open the Root setting again. Otherwise you would have to clear cache/data of the OFFICIAL version Unifi App as you will receive permanent error on root detection. And you will need to login again. If you are not comfortable with keeping Root Setting closed permanently, then consider getting a modded unifi apk of older version.

i've also read on the earlier post. SCThong say that half of the solution which end user can do is to close the root setting.

The two part solution mentioned by SCThong is with regards to AstroGo whereby a modded apk is required.

For Unifi, you can use the official version from playstore. You just need to avoid the two types of Error that can be detected by the official app.
Wifi detection and Root detection.
- Keep Android Wifi setting on always.
- Permanently Keep Root Close setting. (otherwise you will need to clear data and cache and relogin to Unifi)

If you buy from the China Shopee seller, they might be able to provide you with the modded unifi apk. Mean time, please ask for the Filelinked pincode from them as well, and post it here to share with us.
