Use Everest to show all the temperatures.Higher? Of course can, just ensure ur overclock is stable by running Orthos.

QUOTE(nonoking @ Jul 3 2007, 01:18 PM) look....already tell u.... got HT function ar.... if want to go higher... lower the ram divider... puch the proc...slowly....then add the vcore.. but 1st must prime it....give the system some burn in... QUOTE(cyberloner @ Jul 3 2007, 08:38 PM) well thats the fundamental of overclocking.. sometimes we need to sacrifice something in order to achieve other thing.. so like overclocking, we need to sacrifice things like good psu, ram frequency etc etc.. and how do u define the term 'slower'? do u actually feel the difference between CL4 and CL5? |

one reason why until now I am not interested to get a Brisbane....
a 3GHz Brisbane performs similar to my 2.75GHz Orleans on Pi32M. |

still ok coz brisbane not power hunger...
i still think that.. my 3800+ windsor got good performance as well.. but if look at the vCore n temp.. make me think twice.. |

soulfly is right . Compare the Pi 1M screenshots below, brisbane X2 3600+ is slower than windsor X2 3800+ for 2.1 sec. And it is not end of the story yet. The performance gap between these two proc is getting wider when you overclock them. It is happened because brisbane X2 3600+ has higher L2 cache latency.

nice comparison u got there... true winsors is better chip and better pin too..
brisbane pin looks like easy to bend only... so need extra care for it... it clock higher that's why i change it... less ram speed but more core speed... what u choose? unless u got sempronic cpu there... sure u never want a brisbane at all =) happy oc all ... |

QUOTE(kalakatu @ Jul 4 2007, 10:55 AM) but i thought last time u were the one who said 'here we talk about overclockability, not performance' wats the use if u can get a high clock but not much performance... better stick with performance... at least u can feel the performance while using ur PC... even better if u got both performance and oveclockability....bought a brisbane rig, OCed it to 3.0 but there is a lot of difference... sad that it's too easy to go to 3.0... no challenge... giving away the rig to my sister.... plus, brisbane 3.0 onli can be use for benching.. not 24/7 use... QUOTE(cyberloner @ Jul 4 2007, 10:28 PM) nice comparison u got there... true winsors is better chip and better pin too.. yes.. brisbane proc pin are quite fragile...brisbane pin looks like easy to bend only... so need extra care for it... it clock higher that's why i change it... less ram speed but more core speed... what u choose? I've seen many good overclockers here but then i was wondering why only a few people taking part in the Super Pi Top 10 challenge? Personally i feel very fun to take part in the SPI challenge and I've learned some new things about tweaking and overclocking the system. And yet I'm still learning.
I've just roughly read through this thread and I've found many people can achieved 28s~29s result easily (for AMD am2) in Super Pi 1M but again i feel so weird because rarely see people submit their result to the OC database. Gentlemen, no offense from me. I voice it out because of curiosity and I'm just try to understand the situation This post has been edited by dblooi: Jul 5 2007, 04:10 AM |
