If i put the sim card in usb 4g modem and plug it into my laptop, does it count as hot spot? Or direct connection?

QUOTE(anakrantau @ Apr 25 2019, 11:33 AM) Anyone here using modified b618 modem? Seem like I cannot use cordless fon after mod, is there are special settings for phone/volte calling in/out? dont think is the modem problems. some cordless phone problems. if u have TM/cable phone try it. cordless phone some got setting need to be turn ON, make sure your digi sim is activated Volte. and on network setting make sure is auto mode. force 4G wont works for calling in/out.QUOTE(anthraxxxx @ Apr 25 2019, 03:19 PM) If i put the sim card in usb 4g modem and plug it into my laptop, does it count as hot spot? The funny thing was, the people who get slow speed(whatever location slow or digi fault) still stay at the group and keep bashing digi with slow speed test screenshot or other telco high speedtest. My idea to them have two: Aiyo, can't tahan/accept slow speed then switch lo, there still got other telco. why make your life so hard. so far no issue... being with digi 150i for yrs+ now..even i'm not entittle any rebate lol....
prepaid n postpaid same speed. it's different when tower area is congested. apart of it indoor signal make sure is avg good/strong to get a good connection as it's a wireless broadband... some complain coz are using mobile phone. pro n cons... different mobile different chipset and u not even know which band is connected unlock u able to lock both at the same tower and good news is digi join TNB fiber. KL area will have is soon now..can subscribe.. could be better coverage vs unifi limtied area. do check it out too at digi center is your area are in coverage. https://www.lowyat.net/2019/184620/digi-wor...an-coming-soon/ https://www.lowyat.net/2019/184496/digi-hom...-99-for-50mbps/ This post has been edited by alexchew_2020: Apr 26 2019, 03:51 PM |

QUOTE(alexchew_2020 @ Apr 26 2019, 03:53 PM) nope... u only can lock one... if it's keep switching tower, your line will be lag and spike and line drop. do monitor the cell ID aswell normally which u are connected For me at least, using band 3 alone is way better than using CA on 3+7 (off the same cell tower)40Mbps vs 20Mbps....weird ah? |

Recently my infinite 150 plan has extremely low speeds of 0.4 Mbps every night. I put the sim into a router and tether using my laptop. But when I tether using my other Digi postpaid 80 line, I can get speeds of up to 5 Mbps.
I complained and Digi said it was due to congestion and high access from other users. Plans are underway to increase capacity and support growing number of users in area. But something doesn't add up since I get better speeds with my Postpaid 80 line. Does it mean that Digi is throttling the speeds for infinite 150? I'm located at Subang Jaya. |

Anyway, I don't want to talk more about this. iirc i read if VoLTE only available on 65D, i also need someone here to confirm, if they are using 22D but manage to use VoLTEQUOTE(tympg @ Apr 25 2019, 02:20 PM) it doesn't matter what i think, i was just stating facts, and he also said it is base on his own experience, are you calling him a liar? QUOTE(josh5671 @ Apr 26 2019, 11:59 AM) Actually. All telco lost some user whatever prepaid or postpaid at sometime. i totally disagree with your idea here, because if i were with that mentality, i wouldnt be able to find out solution to my 0.1mbps i150 speed, instead of digging up info and discussing with other people, i would just dump digi and move on, probably if the first person that found out if i150 would work much better with b618 with lock function had this mentality, many of these people here wouldnt be still using their i150, because they wouldnt know If talk about digi speed issue. The funny thing was, the people who get slow speed(whatever location slow or digi fault) still stay at the group and keep bashing digi with slow speed test screenshot or other telco high speedtest. I'm located at Subang Jaya. ============================ btw i finally just received my B618-22D 2 days ago, after some extensive test for the last couple of days i want to share some of my findings, which i hope it can open up to some discussion that in the end it can enlighten us (especially me - first time use without changing band with hwmanager, at the same spot where i used to place my phone, it is still automatically locked to band 3 (which is the worst speed in my area), RSRP got better by abit (from average of -97dB to -89dB), i was happy about it, but right away got disappointed by the speedtest, because it did about the same when using phone. - changing to every band available (3, 7, 8) also resulted on the same speed as it was using phone. except when it was on b3+b7 or b3+8, its acting weird, its either the download speed or the upload is higher than usual, but the other one will be much lower than usual (for example using band 8 in my area during day time averaging 6-10mbps down, 3-6mbps up, when using b3+b8 on the same time and spot, its 20mbps down with 2mbps up or vice versa) - moving around the modem to different spot, this is where things get interesting, the best spot for my phone isn't necessary the best spot for the modem. apparently there were spots where phone was at its worst, but it did good for the modem. with this finding, i went to move it around to as many spots possible, running probably more than hundreds of speedtest while monitoring the signal stats etc. - managed to get 30mbps+ download when i put the modem at the right spot (finally abit satisfied after paying RM150 before tax every month for more than a year) - on the 2nd day i was surprised the modem was not moved at all, but the speed is much slower, around 6-8mbps or lower across all available band, this is where i started to analyze more the stat shown in hwmanager on the 2nd day whats different on my stat is the SINR, from a simple google i found out if it is related to interference, when it is really bad doesnt matter if RSRP and RSRQ are good or excellence, the speed will still be slow, and unfortunately even at the same exact spot, SINR reading will vary to some extreme difference during different time, after all, interference is out of our control, my solution to this only to move the modem around till i get good SINR reading - the bandwidth reading in mhz might be the congestion related indicator, because no matter where i move the modem, it will still read the same, at certain time it will change, but some band only maxed out to certain mhz, for example band 8 only maxed out at 5hz - the bandwidth reading is like a ceiling (cap) of the speed, for example: ------------------------------ ------------------------------ 4G -44 is B3+B7 4G 900 FDD is B8 4G 2600 FDD is B7 - as we can see here, signal strenght, signal quality, and noise level are the best at band 8, but the speed test shown the lowest by far among the 3, because the bandwidth reading is 5mhz as for band 7, even tho the signal strength is the worse, but it gives the highest result because the bandwidth reading is the highest at 20mhz, but this is because the SINR (noise) reading is good, at different test i got the SINR at poor reading, with bandwidth 20mhz, the speed is below 10mbps i hope you can see what i see here, and i hope people who understand more about this matter would help me clarify these things sorry for the long post, enjoy your Monday everyone |
