@fruitie thx so much, mine have been really bad for at least a couple of months now, it is at around 17+ Mbps only (1.6 - 2.2 mBps) after 2 or 3 AM, in the morning or afternoon its almost useless, the only thing i can use it for is messenger. The first couple of months it was 30Mbps++

i'm not using external modem, still using the phone and set it as hotspot, i'm not sure if i buy the huawei b618 will help or i would waste the money because my area is hopeless

but y my digi line in hp get better speed  then my i150 in router? doing the speedtest at the same spot inside my house
*
your digi line in HP is not i150? if that's the case i've read about it somewhere before, they accused digi throttling the i150, because their normal digi internet package always can get much faster speed in the same exact location.

HManager app, can download from Huawei B618 thread.

thank you for fast respond, you've been very helpful

try to get below 90dbm... find sweetspot around the house high/low/near the tower.

check speedtest with different rsrp location.

This is mine

@fruitie are you using 618-22d or 65d?

I still dont understand why the Huawei B618 thread listed 65d as what you should get if you use Digi. Enlighten me please

she use 22d. Alot of us used 22d until celcom locked their router and 65d got their VoLTE enabled. Thus, if u can hack ur 22d and enable VoLTE, just stick with 22d which is much cheaper with celcom set
*
QUOTE(fruitie @ Feb 27 2019, 06:05 PM)
I'm using 22d but mine is an overseas unit so it is unlocked to all telcos.
22d sold in Malaysia are from Celcom which are SIM locked to Celcom, so need to be careful with the seller and ensure it is modded to be unlocked.
Moreover 22d doesn't have VoLTE enabled (unless modded) but 65d that are from TM Point have VoLTE and unlocked to all telcos. Hence, the recommendation is to just buy 65d from TM Point.
*
so if one dont care about VoLTE, and only focus on the internet speed, 22d is sufficient as long as it is not locked (make sure can be used by Digi), is that right?

what about locking band and such, is that necessary?

and about the modem choices from either Unifi or Celcom, even tho if its not locked, i dont think its wise to take it for RM499 with no warranty compared to RM 565 with warranty from unifi, its an RM 66 extra for at least 1 year warranty, please correct me if i'm wrong

1) correct.

2) not necessary

3) celcom set got warranty 2 years compared to unifi

Previously ive recommend celcom set due to simply because its cheaper and warranty 2 years.

After they have locked the unit, its wiseable to get from unifi.
And also

There’s specific thread for b618. U can get the info more there. B618 thread
*
thx for the reply, yes i have been referring things from your thread there as suggested by fruitie, but i need to be sure because i'm using digi i150, hence i made a post here.

btw as someone pointed somewhere in your thread, and i also personally checked in Celcom FAQ, i will quote it "Upon bad condition, lost or refuse to return the device to Celcom, the warranty of the device will be deemed void."

so it means if one to just get the modem from Celcom, its RM499 with no warranty, am i right?

Yes. That wat they said. But ive gut saying that the warranty is from HUAWEI and u can still claim directly from them.

I just learned that in one area of a spot in my room, the band will switch to band 7, normally in other area it will stay at band 3, and i'm surprised that band 7 has better bandwidth overall

Attached Image

So I guess in specific situation like this, the ability to lock to a specific band is really a big deal

Stay away from wireless broadband if you want to play online. You won't experience smooth game play

i get the same experience in gaming just like using any good fibre by using celcom in my area, the only cons is it has quota, and it becomes a problem for some games that receive frequent big size patch

so u rooted your phone?

get a modem la.. might get better speed/congested area too..with b618.

that why lock band features quite important for some user.  brows.gif  brows.gif

yeah finally rooted, so troublesome one its xiaomi phone lol, had to ask permission to unlock bootloader and got waiting time, some ppl waited for 15 days, luckily i was only waiting for 3 days

yeah definitely getting it, the reason i went all the trouble with rooting the phone is just to test the scenario, so now it is proven so i know the spending on that expensive modem wouldnt be for nothing rclxms.gif

oh forgot to add one very important note if anyone want to root their phone just for this, do note that some application like banking app won't work anymore because some of it dont allow the phone to be rooted.

in my case i will just unroot my phone once my modem arrive.

sorry for the double post

don't know what happened or if it is related or not, but all this time band 3 always been the worst among all the other band in my place even tho the strongest signal strength and quality, but like 2 weeks ago i made a report to digi, and just now i ran speedtest and all 3 bands i can get here

Attached Image

since i can lock band using my phone, i always lock at band 8 in my place, because its the highest for both down and up, and i need upload speed more because i stream, but tonight band 3 looks good, hopefully its permanent
