Same name as in like ssid is identical? Or like abc_5G and abc_6G can also? Cos mine is abc_2.4G and abc_5G default by router
SSID should be identical these daysHome Networking WiFi Router Discussion Thread, Updated for 2023

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Jan 27 2024, 01:01 PM) iOS will prompt a warning if 6Ghz is different name with 2.4/5Ghz as well I dun have Iphone 15 pro series (only series with Wi-Fi 6E) with me though.Best practice nowadays is to use same name I do have few Wi-Fi 6E devices at home so i can just rename the 6Ghz as same SSID with 2.4Ghz/5Ghz so the client will auto switch it self ? QUOTE(ben3003 @ Jan 27 2024, 07:56 PM) Same name as in like ssid is identical? Or like abc_5G and abc_6G can also? Cos mine is abc_2.4G and abc_5G default by router Mesh router normally combine into one SSID (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) so the client can auto switch whenever it's strong signal exclude Wi-Fi 6E default with "_6ghz" index behindif rename to all same meaning sort of "combine" and client will auto detect and connect. QUOTE(ben3003 @ Jan 28 2024, 05:04 AM) mean both same or enable the smart connect at router? Problem is i don wan my 5ghz device connecting to 2.4g. Create a guest network with only 2.4Ghz But now router has those "IoT network" separate out SSID |

And I took one 2 days to fully compared the different hardware versions of x20 and x50, reasons being ,I'm interested with the IoT network, signal source, connection preference . And lately they added ECO mode to it but only on V3 and above for x20 deco. Imagine a normal user, they won't even ask dealer/vendor about this as they don't even know in the first place. And by the time you get it and open it up, is already too late to realize about the firmware differences, hopefully those features will come to v2 and v1. Deco x10 is the worst..totally cut off from future supports for now |

Not only TP-Link actually, some of those IoT brand example bulb and wall plug also having these issue of different hardware version and support differ firmware. Such as the Matter compatibility right now, the compatibility lists mentioned this model is supported but hardware ID not support Deco x10 basically is a normal + cutoff version of all deco with less feature. QUOTE(TongCN @ Jan 30 2024, 08:37 AM) Yea, hate to have these v1,v2 things unless u ask the seller to check before buy (online) From what I've gathered online, TP-link got many factories all over the world, chips supply is not consistent or they never keep stock on hold for production.Physical store can directly check the box there. Such as the Matter compatibility right now, the compatibility lists mentioned this model is supported but hardware ID not support Deco x10 basically is a normal + cutoff version of all deco with less feature. Also due to certain region wifi power limit regulations, they need to adjust base on that region. So in the end, come out with many types of hardware revisions. Yes, I even read some complained about Tapo cameras with the later versions had bad microphone sound, but the older ones is better mic but slower processing hardware. Hopefully they can at least standardize it more in the future even with different hardwares. Feels bad for those early buyers of Deco X10, device is great, but the lack of firmware update support is terrible. If they can't handle it, why don't just release the source code and allow the community to cook up a good customized firmware of decos. |

https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/621608 This is a must read for those who are going to venture into TP-Link lineup, at least you know which hardware you should go for before committing into buying it. At the very least, you won't have a headache of missing out functions or disappearing options due to different hardware revisions when setting up different mesh in a network. |

Yes, Mercusys app lacking on this. Very basic and minimal straight forward orange red hue app. does anyone know? Perhaps you could do a screenshot and use the report function in the app to send in a support ticket, but be warn, the way of reply and style is somewhat confusing for us to decipher. I think their support is run by a team of part timers mainland. ![]() This post has been edited by Omochao: Jan 30 2024, 10:33 AM SnowWhiteTan liked this post

QUOTE(TongCN @ Jan 30 2024, 09:35 AM) Let's just hope they continue support those v1 & v2 variants (technically early adopters or beta tester Is not that they dont want to support , is hardware limitations probably, and at the rate they are releasing new routers or mesh, is better to focus on newer products. Very China style of doing things, like how they always drop off support for 1/2 years old devices after launching. But if they follow xiaomi footsteps and churn out newer firmwares, that would also be another whole set of issues as xiaomi always release new firmware with new features, but one thing or another gets broken along the way and need to wait for another new update to rectify it.Now i dunno which version i will get for my Deco XE75, lol.. Based on deco forum, it seems like v1 firmware more advance than v2 model. I hope Tp-Link won't go down this way of doing things. Infact, I found out from other forums, their mesh source code is actually based on OpenWrt. Hope they can really make full use of it. |

After done setup, feels like there one part downgrade which is : 1) X20 v1 has this home care: https://www.tp-link.com/us/homecare/ which is free and quite good to use (at least last time blocked me from certain site or ads) 2) XE75 now is Homeshield Subscription based and basic (free) doesnt even provide Malicious site blocking :\ 3) XE75 also dun have speed test build in anymore This post has been edited by TongCN: Feb 2 2024, 08:56 AM |

Under account? Check with this link, different region , different firmware versions, also try to take note for hardware version. https://www.tp-link.com/my/choose-your-location/ |
