how come i cannot reach 500mbps with ac1200 with the stock setting?> cuz i wan test the wifi speed. asus one can reach 100mbps only.

Forget about getting 500Mbps on wireless on AC1200. Max is 300Mbps. You need a better router, with better hardware specs. You need something like the C9 or C2300.

Anybody using Archer C5 for 500Mbps? Is it good?
*
Nope. Not recommended for 500Mbps. Get something more powerful, like the C9 or the C2300.

I just got the AC18 from Shopee a few days back. After discounts and all abt RM255.
Setup was a breeze, less than 10 mins I'm up and running. Reboot duration is very short. About 1 min.

2.4GHz signal is STRONG. I have 100mbps line and I can easily get 50mbps on it anywhere in double storey house. Even in toilet where I'm surrounded by more than 4 walls
5GHz signal is not as strong as 2.4GHz but now it is easier for me to get 100mbps consistently around the house. The coverage area is also much bigger than my previous TPLink AC1200.

Unifi TV works on LAN port 4 with no lag.

So far it has been good, no freezing yet. Everything is snappy. Didn't want to pay upwards of RM500 for TPLink or Asus ones.

Happy to hear that works for you. Good to have other options besides TP-Link and Asus.

At that price point its really is the best bang for the buck. A good budget router with good performance. Thx for the info.

Dear sifus,

I'm just being curious..

AC1300UHP is stated to be fit for 300Mbps speed, but looking at the ASUS MY youtube:

It seems that it's able to clock up to 540Mbps DL speed.

Does this mean that it's able to fit for 500Mbps Turbo option?

Or.. is it just that I'm probably missing the fact that the speedtest video is just showing 1 device connected
and with real world option where probably 4-5 simultaneous device connections may strain the AC1300UHP?

Could be CPU bottleneck.

Only if your device supports it, and in real world, it probably won’t be that fast.

Hi, just want to ask. Currently using tenda c18. My bro connected his PC through LAN with CAT 5e wire. Package is 500mbps and my bro can achieved 500+mbps with no problem. The problem is, after some time, the speed test has been throttle at 80-90mbps (properties suddenly show link speed of 100mbps). the only fix for this is to move the wire to different port on the router and can achieved back the 500mbps speed. Anyone facing this?

Try with different cable. Cat 6 preferable, Dintek or Ugreen.

Another question, if im laptop is already using AC wifi card, if i buy another external wifi adapter, would it help to increase its speed and receive the wifi signals better? Provided I also change the router to something that can go up to 500mbps for wifi.

Yes. Get the T4U or the T9U if you can afford it. Make sure it is plugged into USB3.0, to utilise full thoroughput.

Alright thank you. I have a laptop that doesn't detect 5GHZ wifi. So if i get this T4U, it will be able to receive 5GHZ and then utilize it right?
