i just got myself a RT-AC86U router. my main problem is that it auto negotiates to 100Mbps on WAN therefore throttling my speed to lower than 100Mbps instead of going full 1Gbps. my old ac1200 could manual nego to 1Gbps. how can I fix this??

Hi, C2300 would be the perfect choice.
Everyone is using it and satisfied with it.

Thanks.

Hi guys.
I have a few questions that need answer.

1. I have been using unifi modem for ages. I am still using the old black modem given to me. My question would be if I have 300mbps speed, does the modem need an upgrade too? When I said old black modem I really meant it like the modem given to you during the earliest days of unifi introduction in malaysia.

2. This might sound silly but pardon me as i am bad at it tech stuffs. When you connect the LAN cable, do you connect it to the modem or router?

3. What type of lan cable should i look for?

4. Im thinking of upgrading my aged router (asus rtn12d1) to Asus rt ac1300uhp to compliment 300mbps. Is it okay?

5. Would an aged router causes speed throttle and slow and high ping?

Thanks

[You may tell TM model name and serial number, if necessary TM will change it for you]

[Router]

3. What type of lan cable should i look for?
[At least cat 5e]

4. Im thinking of upgrading my aged router (asus rtn12d1) to Asus rt ac1300uhp to compliment 300mbps. Is it okay?
[More than enough to support 300Mbps, check out the review https://www.blacktubi.com/review/asus-rt-ac1300uhp/]

5. Would an aged router causes speed throttle and slow and high ping?
[If you're connecting with LAN cable it should not be main issue, however your RT-N12 LAN port is only 100Mbps based, suggest to get RT-AC1300UHP it is Gigabit LAN]

Thanks

Hi. Currently I am using Asus RT AC1300UHP router.

However due to dk what reasons, my router is on first floor and my smart TV is on ground floor. I can say the internet speed for my smart TV is really slow and can hardly load a youtube video. Do I use mesh wifi or powerline ??

Besides, I am using a very old TM modem which I dont know if they are supposed to change it. I am currently running on the 300 Mbps speed and I am getting approx 300 mbps on my phone on the 5Ghz band but 5Ghz cant be received on the ground floor

Try to see what is the speed if you do a Speedtest at ground floor.

It could be due to your TV.

Speedtest on 2.4Ghz on my phone shows 30+ Mbps... I downloaded a random speed test using my Sharp LC50UA6800X tv, found out the download speed is only hovering around 2 Mbps smhh confused.gif

Hi, guys can recommend a router for me?

Background.
My parents house got 4000+/- sqft semi D area to cover. Two floor.
Currently using ac1300 from unifi.
Wifi strength really gg on first floor. like 10% juice
Even on ground floor, 2.4Gz band, i get 50% juice only.
Device number vary from 10-15.
One thing i notice, workload increase when i enabled 5Ghz band. cause 2.5Ghz to perform very badly.

For RM500, that will be tough to provide a good speed and signal for a 4000sq ft semi D.

Consider Deco M5 (2 pack) from TP-Link which you should see quite a significant improvement.

If you got budget, a better solution for such a big property will be the ASUS RT-AC86U twin pack.

Deco M5, do i still need the ac1200 router? Or i just plug it in BTU?
Kinda confuse it the Deco M5 have their SSID then the router have another SSID.

Hi can anyone recommend a good router for range? Currently using supplied router from celcom fibre TP-Link Archer VR500V.

Speeds are ok until i go up to the second floor.
As long as can maintain over 100mbps with increased range will do.

Phone TM to obtain your PPPOE username and password if you cannot copy from the UI.
