QUOTE(blacktubi @ Jul 28 2019, 11:11 PM) I don't recommend using mesh for 1000sqft, it is counter intuitive. For 1000 sqft, a mesh WiFi is just going to introduce more noise and you will have issue with roaming. what if i top up till 1.2k? i've found tp-link c5400x at slightly more than 1.2k, is it recommended or there are other options that are better than c5400x at that price point?ASUS RT-AC86U will be your best bet here. Assuming 1400sqft single storey terrace. Same as above, mesh will cause more harm than good. ASUS RT-AC86U will be the best choice. This post has been edited by lolzcalvin: Jul 28 2019, 11:44 PM |

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Jul 29 2019, 09:05 AM) TP-Link Archer C5400X will be faster as it comes with more RAM, two additional CPU cores and an extra WiFi band compared to the RT-AC86U. if you were me, would you go for a better firmware or a better spec? i'm torn between this. TP-LINK C5400X sounds very promising, but at that price point i can't even get a ASUS RT-AC88U.TP-Link typically offer better specs at a same price but ASUS router do have a better firmware so that will be your call to make. |

i just got myself a RT-AC86U router. my main problem is that it auto negotiates to 100Mbps on WAN therefore throttling my speed to lower than 100Mbps instead of going full 1Gbps. my old ac1200 could manual nego to 1Gbps. how can I fix this??

need help
I tried upgrading the firmware for my old asus RT-AC86U and looks like it's bricked. the power LED goes on, then it attempts to connect to the Internet before 2.4G and 5G band activates, the Internet LED goes down, 2.4G and 5G LED lights up, then the router restarts and repeat the same motion over and over. anything I should do? edit: fixed. if anyone bricked their router during firmware update, pls use and follow thru rescue mode and firmware restoration mode by ASUS. what a hassle...makes me not wanting to update firmware in the future liow This post has been edited by lolzcalvin: Jun 6 2024, 01:03 AM |
