The ASUS RT-AC86U being the more expensive device is slightly better as it is 4x4 on the 5Ghz band and ASUSWRT have more features which some may prefer.

I have the D-Link DIR-842 C2 by Unifi. I want to plug a cable into the device and run it downstairs and have another Wifi router extend the wifi. What device can do this? Also, should I change the firmware on the D-LINK DIR-842 C2 to a non-Unifi version?

Hi, if you wish to use D-Link as a secondary router through LAN Cable.

Just reset the reset and disable DHCP.
Connect to LAN Port 1.

Thanks.

What is an enterprise router that will work with Time Fiber? (PPPoE I believe). I want to purchase something decent. Need AC wifi and is reliable.

House type: Landed (terrace)
Size of house: 2000sqf and 3 floors
Features required:
Number of devices connected to WiFi: 15-20
Internet Speed: 100Mbps
Budget: <RM700

im considering mesh wifi but im interested to know if it could work efficiently for 3 stories house..
without laying network cables to upper floors, does mesh router need to "see"(visually could see without wall blockage) each other in other to create the mesh network especially for different floors?

ASUS BRT-AC828, doesn’t require much technical skills to configure it properly.

No line of sight needed for mesh WiFi.

For the budget, your best bet would be the 3 pack TP-Link Deco M5 with one on each floor.
