oh hey.. well.. braces for me not painful at all.. i pluck 4 teeth.. and my dentist say will be done in one and a half year's time.. tightening bite chicken summore.. and her tightening took less den 10 minutes.. trust me.. she's pro.. my dental clinic in PJ, branch in SS2 and pudu.. it's private.. price fixed to 3.5k.. no extra paying for anyone who has to go for extra treatment.. tat is included one retainer but exclude x-ray.. transparent braces are not really transparent.. still hav metal.. less effective plus not all can wear.. onli not-so-bad condition can wear.. permanent braces is da best.. removable one din work AT ALL.. retainers better wear.. 3 days is enuf to make ur teeth move.. unless ur teeh is still not-so-bad... coz some of them wear to join da fun onli.. lolz.. can ask me more.. i kinda got experience coz for project kinda did survey and asked ppl who gone through it.. and i'm wearing too..

Added on October 3, 2007, 10:36 pmoh yea.. forgot one thing... normally government they approve mostly ppl whose parents are/were government servant.. if not they'll mostly chose ppl wif bad teeth condition and longer treatment ones.. coz it's for dentist-to-be as their practice.. lolz.. belif or not.. depends on ur luck.. if u get some stupid ones.. ur teeth.. say bye bye to it..

Added on October 3, 2007, 10:39 pmoh.. hahaha.. i miss out something again.. my dentist can pay instalment too.. can use credit oso.. first install pay 1k.. next 10 install pay 250.. after tat, just go.. lolz.. trust me.. braces isnt any accessories.. so just stick wif da normal ones.. as long as get done wif it soon.. and show off ur nice teeth for da rest of ur life! =)

smile.gif i just got my braces at how's orthodontic. i go for ''Clippy-C''-invisible one. My condition: One of my front tooth
45degree senget  outward. Dr said this Clippy-C is the advanced version of Damon3. Less pain & faster result.
doctor put the braces on the upper side first.(he said put the lower side on next month)

the 5th day, the wire come out from the last bracket on my upper left side. I left it like that for 2days, then I make appointment to the doctor to fix it.
For my surprise, the wire of my front teeth did not move, even though the wire behind lose and out of the last bracket..
I think this is what they call it ''self-ligating'? sweat.gif
Actually i'm wondering what different between 'self-ligating' with normal one? I don't really understand the idea.
can someone clear me out? icon_question.gif  i asked my doctor, but he said that it's not 'automatic adjusting/tightening'.. doh.gif

For invisible or visible bracket, its depend on ppl on preferences la..but, i did not regret take the invisible one, coz, ppl hardly can see the i wear braces(especially when take photo icon_rolleyes.gif ,in certain distance..not very close-up la)..and the bracket is smaller thumbup.gif ..so,its more easily to get used to it and close mouth(i face d difficulties to talk and close mouth in the 1st week)

self-ligating
is actually pretty simple. the wires are actually made out of alloy which will turn back into it's original shape irregardless of the way it was bent. for example, if you had vampire teeth, the wires need to bend to the protruding teeth to join the rest of your molars right? so when the wire is bent out of it's original shape, it will slowly and gradually revert back to the shape that it was designed in the first place. thus, pushing your teeth to the right position, hence the 'self-ligation'. which is why during your treatment, the doctor might take several 'sizes' of wires to try out and see which fits you. the larger your jawline is, the bigger the arc of the wires are; similarly if you have a small jawline, the arc will be smaller.

for those who are still studying SPM, look at your science textbook under the section metals and their properties, the metal is titanium alloy or something. i totally forgot the name, do correct me if i'm wrong.

Anyone here ever heard or been to Dr Tan Yee Har or Dr Lee Chiong Weng? Dr Tan Yee Har has a clinic somewhere in d'sara heights (if i'm not mistaken) and Dr Lee has a clinic in d'sara utama. The name of the clinic is PJ Orthodontic Specialist Clinic (Pang). Appreciate if you can share your experiences with any of them. Tx.

yes i am still wearing my braces.. i paid rm4000 for the whole course which exclude the x-ray, eh i think mine is a regular type. i can say he is a patient dr and tolerant as for gentle, so so only. If u go on a weekdays he may have time to giude u through the process, if u go on a weekend, hahah he don even have time to sit down and talk to u .... but he is very professional and knwo wat he is doing , because i saw my friend who went to klang for her braces, and even before her teeth is alligned the dr gave her a green light to take off the braces, which she then went to dr lee for a consultation , which dr lee say her teeth need alot of work to be done.

Eh he is 30+... yeah his appointment is like full on weekends, and sometimes i go without appointment, so have to wait quite long ... My RM4k .. i have to pay RM1k as the deposit, and then the rest is up to u .. RM100 min and then when u are about to be taken off.. like mine.. i still have estimate around 2 more checks up he ask me to pay half of my remainder.. Well not as in hurting ur mouth or wat ... those hurt sometimes its like not on purpose. but other then that he is ok.. and he is also very fast in his job... yeah i also know 1 in ss2, my friend say that the dr sometimes even scold his patient.....

Err.. Does it hurt ah.. during putting in, Dr will inject the pain killer (not sure i called it correct or not..i am poor on english) then only put in screw. so, no feeling at all.. once have pain feel, u just signal to Dr. he will inject one more then no feeling anymore. smile.gif

After one hour, the pain will come. So, after putting screw, take one pill of pain killer immediately. Rest at home on the bed, try to relax and sleep possible. If still pain, use a cool wet small towel wrap with ice and cool down your pain area on your chin. repeat it for 5 ~10min then use the cool wet towel cover your mouth and chin. You will feel the pain release a lot.. close your eye and cool down, so that the blood will not blood fast in your body and give u pain signal..

After wake up in 3 hours, feel ok lo.. The next day (today), i didn't feel anything la.. Just one of screw cause a ulcer lioa..sad.gif
This is my experiences la.. smile.gif  I tell myself, it is worth.. can shorthen 6 months treament after install 4 screws for my case..keke..so, tahan saja..

hi dear, i'm here. nod.gif

you said that you've been wearing braces for a week. usually the doctor will give you a short period to 'get used to it'. he can't just put in the wires and expect everything to go in place. the patient might experience shock at the sudden movements and discomfort. that's why usually the first month he'll just fix the metals on your teeth and let it move very, very slowly. as you progress, the changes will be fast because you've grown used to it.

it is normal for you to extract your teeth soon, don't worry. is Dr Muhammad taking care of you? you're in good hands dear. smile.gif everything about bracing is gradual changes as your progress over time. wink.gif

bracing is a very personalized treatment, guys, please don't compare yourself with others to prevent unnecessary confusion. unless, of course, you feel that your doctor is not up to par.

Yes Dr Subra is taking care of me.
Dr Subra = Dr Muhammad right? lol
So far he is the only person doing for me, unless u count another lady Dentist who just helps a bit here and there.
I feel kinda useless wearing this braces for a month without extracting any teeth though, bcos my next appointment is in 3 weeks. doh.gif
