hahaha ah so that was Dr Raymond? He's quite a nice person & keeps trying to minimize my pain. And always says sorry when he knows its gonna hurt so bad. He changed some brackets and tightened my braces yesterday too.

btw peeps, you know the blue hard rubber band that he inserted between your back teeth ? what exactly is it for yea. one of mine dropped off previously but dr how said nvm. today another one came off too, tried to fix it back on but failed. I mean, he did say nevermind but of course I'm worried if it affects anything. Thanks in advance!

separator will come off when it has already done its job. so when it comes off, don't worry, jst let it be. dr how put 17 separators for me, all came off by themselves.

It sounds like you guys are taking the normal bracket and not the Damon type? Just curious, because I didn't undergo all these steps...

Added on October 29, 2010, 9:36 amI heard from my friend who had her veneers done by Dr Raymond that he has really nice set of teeth (wore braces before) but I did not get to see them because he was wearing face mask... Has anyone seen his teeth?

Damon type need to go thru these steps also. That depends on the condition of ones teeth. U need not to put in the donuts probably bcos your teeth have enuff space to move. thumbup.gif

Last week Dr How repositioned 1 bracket for me, on the same day, i found tat it got worse, bcame more crooked. I waited for 1 week for the tooth to stabilize and i went to adjust it again yesterday, although my next appointment is 2 weeks later. I think better don't readjust immediately, will be very painful and that tooth will bcome sensitive, i experience that b4, too much adjustments in too short period of time. I think 1 week gap should b ok.

Thanks for the advice. Actually i experienced the pain that u mentioned also. My worried is that too much changes even after 2-3 days.
I scared if i wait til my appt, the condition will be even worse.

Hi!
25 year old dude, thinking about getting braces. My front tooth has a pretty bad rotation, and my parents couldn't really afford braces for me when I was younger. And in uni.... shy la. =/

Now I have some cash, though I should get it done now, instead of when I turn 30.

Any dentist you guys can recommend? A friend introduced me to Dr Lee (SS2, same row as Public Bank). Anybody did braces there before?

Thanks!

not to worry. i started to put on braces around that age, but i've started working tongue.gif

I think it is quite common for university students to wear braces now. biggrin.gif

Hi all-

28 year old female here. I wanted to "ikat gigi" since young but parents no money and also, am afraid of dentist sad.gif
Just two days ago, i had my consultation with DR.Chay at Prestige Orthodontist in Pulau Tikus, Penang. Initial estimate is RM 5,000 for metal and 3 tooth extraction.
I am very happy i took that first step toward correcting my overbite! Hehe
Found this forum and will be in here often to find a support system so please support me!
Apart from tooth extraction, i also need scaling and tooth filling to fix some cavities. Any one knows which clinic that provides local anathetic for scaling and filling in penang?

ARe you using self-ligating system ? RM5,000 sound expensive if it is tranditional metal type.

yes. Will be using self-litigating system, but instead of Damon system, it's Synergy R.

RM 5,000 for metal but if i prefer the clear ceramic, it's RM7,000.

Is that the going rate? I think it's a bit pricey too but i am very confortable with the orthodontist. Very professional. smile.gif

self-litigating (damon) is a new system where no tightening is required. If u use the non-litigating system, every few weeks u hv to visit your ortho to tighten the braces.
Metal and clear ceramic are the types of those little dots on your braces. Most will opt for ceramic coz it's less visible smile.gif
hope this helps. Anyone with better answer feel free to add or correct me! smile.gif

Self-ligating system are available in metal also ceramic. Whether which are better, well according some of our seniors here, for damon system, metal works better than ceramic. Where else for GAC In-Ovation, ceramic works as well as damon metal. That's why when it comes to ceramic, many opt for GAC In-Ovation C.

For more information, i think its better for you to consult doctor. Cos we are not experts. Hope that helps.
