mine is M-line..2009 Persona..any suggestion where can I find the double layer servo brake & where can I install this thing?
*
Can find on mudah.. search for brake servo VIRS. around RM250 excluding brake fluids which u need to buy urself.. Any workshop that knows how to repair engine can install, its a simple task of switching it only. Downside is if u have a Front strut bar then it will be pressing against the bar.

Hi all. New in here. Have looked for existing threads on my questions but can't seem to find anything.

Anyway, is there a thread for Persona SV, or SV owners also in here?

I have a 2014 Persona SV (M), low mileage, just past 29, 900km.

Since the first day I got my car, I noticed the engine randomly revs up to 2 thousand plus, even when stationary and at idle. After a few years, the frequency has did down so now happens very infrequently.

Another issue is that at low revs, the car jerks randomly. So then going usually at slow speed, low rpm, the car jerks. What happens is it suddenly revs up and dies down so the car goes fast slow fast and runs jerkily.

Last perennial problem is the steering column vibrates and rattles annoyingly. Usually it idle on neutral, and also when running at low to medium speeds.

Does anyone else face these problems? Is it just isolated or many owners having these issues?

Thank you.
*
Check your MAP sensor. Might require cleaning.

QUOTE(wklow28 @ Aug 7 2018, 10:08 AM)
Do u feel that SV brakes (additional 2 disk brakes) feels better than B-line, M-line on braking power?  cool2.gif
*
Yes definitely. Drove H line before.. definitely felt much more better. But it could be due to H line using a bigger brake servo and has EBD built in.

QUOTE(tallrice @ Aug 10 2018, 04:56 AM)
new thread!!!
congrats
ori spring for front is already low and making the rear tonggek...
if change to neo then rear even more tonggek... alamak!
*
hahaha.. then use lowered rear springs and roll ur fender out so the tire doesnt scratch the body (only if u upgraded to wider tires such as 205 and above).

Just use a throttle body spray cleaner to clean the MAP sensor. The degreaser liquid if fast drying. Let the cleaned MAP sensor to dry itself before re-installing.
*
MAP sensor location. Old cars use MAF = Mass Air Flow sensor. Newer gen cars uses MAP = Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor. Persona use MAP.

i plan to change the suspension..any recommended brand and model for comfort driving? where to buy original proton brand besides from changing in SC? i'm currently using the proride absorber (black color) and spring..and do u guys use the bush protection kit? the sarung covering the steel part?

another thing, anyone change to the silicon steering rack bush? saw an ad in mudah but dunno what is the function https://www.mudah.my/Wira+Persona+Waja+Gen2...on-46202950.htm

how bout this cannister purge valve thingy? https://www.mudah.my/Cannister+Purge+Valve+...in-42192040.htm
*
Comfort but slightly stiffer than stock i recommend proride heavy duty (red) or IMP improve comfort series.. its using long stroke with stiffer damping.. give a slightly firmer feel but stock level of suspension travel.

Silicon bush is more durable than rubber stock bush. the bush is basically what holds the steering rack to the shaft at the bottom of the firewall. normally when worn out i will realised there is free play in the middle of the steering whereby it will slightly left or right eventhough ur car is going straight. it will give that firm feel like a new car after changing.

Canister purge valve is a solenoid that purges the fuel vapor builtup in ur tank or intake. When it spoils u will hear an very fast mechanical tik tik tik sound coming from the back of the IAFM there.

Hi guys, is it ok for me to use toyota coolant in persona?
*
Yes, as long as the coolant is designed for aluminium radiators.
I use Mitsubishi Fuso Mercedes long life coolant, as I'm more comfortable with a coolant that has met Mercedes standards. Mercedes were the first manufacturers to develop coolant for aluminium radiators when copper radiators were still mainstream.

No1 know if it's illegal??

Also wanna ask how much is it to convert engine to a 1.8 mivec? Roughly hw much we need
*
Not sure if its illegal. But normally JPJ tak kacau unless its HID lights fitted in it.

Are you referring to 4G93 GSR CK engine? Then its roughly 12k for full halfcut, not engine lantai. Only CK terbalik engines can fit into persona.

Is it worth to swap engine to 4g93 gsr ck?
Is this kind of engine reliable?
*
Depends.. Reliability will never be as good as stock non turbo engine.
I used to have a Wira swapped 4G63T, heavily tuned to around 380whp. over 2 years i was using that car my maintenance cost me around RM10k.
Lots of things will go wrong such as turbo oil leak, manifold vacuum issue, burnt piston and valve when my ECU failed on me, lifted head when my turbosmart kaput once, car mati when turbo pipes got a leak, engine overheating etc etc.. tons of issues.. RM10k also because most of it i know how to DIY to solve it.. If repair in shop will easily cost more. So if u know how to hands on a lot of stuffs then its worth it.. if not BOT would be a better way to go.

BOT able to increase engine output as well? Roughly hw much to do that? I need more power in my persona bt Don wan have many problem. Based on what u told me, I think I btr don't swap engine lol. Scare alot problem
*
BOT = Bolt on Turbo.. of cos can increase output. around 7-8k without management and add on 1k for management. Prefer to BOT than swap engine cos its lesser hassle unless u want to go high HP. for persona use AEM FIC6 piggyback. whatever the shop fella recommends for u, stick with FIC6.

QUOTE(voscar @ Aug 21 2018, 12:34 AM)
lol, I'm purposely using VW G12+ coolant coz have faith on those coolant. DIY changed twice so far, 77k km from radiator cap see still clear no rust.
*
Mine more than 150k km before i changed my coolant. Since my radiator cap always looks ultra green and super clean, i didnt want to kacau it.

can BOT on stock persona campro iafm engine?
*
Definitely can. But u will have to run on low boost. Around 0.3-0.45 bar to be safe. Since stock internals are not designed for boosting.

Y need to change the water tank if no problem?
*
If u don't change it as a preventive maintenence, when shit happens, it leaks or worst the fin breaks and water cant pump, then be prepared for a major overhaul. Can be a life or dead situation when ur engine seize while driving at high speed.

Btw just to share with u all.. I went shopping for some parts on Lazada.. Combined with some discount codes and managed to get some really good deals all for around RM2k.
Basically bringing back my nearly 7 years 10 months old car back new. thumbup.gif

Would recommend e-shops in Lazada such as SM Auto, Vanli, The Spare Parts Shop etc.. Good and secure packing with bubble wraps and very quick delivery. Orders all were processed and shipped within 2 days.

Seems like very good value.
Mine XM2 (195x60xR15) already cost more than that.

Long lasting?
As I know sporty tire normally the thread easily wear out. nod.gif
*
I know XM2 last damn long but has uneven wear issues the last time I used it. Its an energy saving tire so I dont expect much performance out of it anyways.

Hankook V12 Evo2 is much quieter than the evo1, Grip level not sure as tires were brand new (<100km) when i went up genting last sat and it was skidding quite a bit. It was raining otw up so Im not blaming the tire. Personal experience the V12 evo1 grip level were on par with PS3 and T1R.

Toyo T1R threadwear 240 (or 220 forgot ady) lasted 19k km, PS3 threadwear 280 lasted 28k km, V12 evo1 threadwear 320/340 lasted 33k km.
V12 Evo1 was kinda hard wall and medium compound hence it was noisier than PS3 medium wall, soft compound.. PS4 threadwear 320 but it's way noisier than PS3, but grip level is god like.

seal cam cover is normal prob for campro engine..i also experience this before..

for brake pads it is cheaper to change outside such as bendix metal king and so on..
*
Bendix MKT are some seriously overrated pads. Overheats damn fast and makan disc like mad..
For a good budget brake pads, I will stick to either Mintye or Bosch Pads. These 2 budget brands are the only ones that didnt overheat too much after spirited drive down genting.

How about TRW brake pads ?
or speedex sport ceramic brake pad?
i'm using Bendix MKT too right now for front almost 3 years already.. rear brake pads still not change before..

thanks
*
Never tried TRW or SpeedEx before.
Do u see deep grooves in ur brake disc? I never had that problem until i started using bendix.

Racing pads i used before are RS Stop 550C (screeches quite a lot), Project Mu 400C and another 650C pads but forgot the brand. the higher the temp rating, the more u need to heat up the pads before getting optimal braking feel. A 400-450C pads would be more sufficient that enough for normal road use.
Rear brake pads normally wears out slower, about 2:1 ratio vs the front pads. But if its Persona Rear brake shoe then it kinda last very long. I just only changed my rear brake shoes after 7 years 10 mth. tongue.gif

Seal Cam Cover (the rubber) 1st change on 3 ~4 years, 2nd not last (out side workshop, but say Ori Proton part) is due to I can see Timing belt cover got oil stain, when check change the Cam Oil Seal then together with this.

Last week back to Proton change again, hope can last another 3~4 years...  sweat.gif

or due to my engine oil, I keep using 30? As now lot of Proton carry only 30...
*
U can actually get silicon cam seals.. Cheap and good.. Mine so far so good, never leak after 3 years.
Recommend for u to use 40 oil at least.. I tried 30 a few times before, especially when my engine was new and realised my shims were making a lot of noise.
So far among the tons of oil I have used, Castrol Edge/Magnatec, Mobil 1 Formula M, Mobil 1 Gold, Liqui Moly are the ones highly recommended.

should i change to mineral oil since my car is more than 300k km already? i always use mobile super 2000 10w40 cause it give me better engine response..
*
If you dont see any oil consumption issues with 10w40 then u can continue sticking to the same grade of oil. Mineral 10w40 and semi sync 10w40 are actually the same.

If u want to clean up the debris in ur engine ur restore performance, try changing oil frequently. Just use mineral oil (ideally the same viscosity u are using now and since mineral are cheaper than semi sync by almost 30%), try changing oil every 3k mileage. Buy 3 bottles during the next Lazada 9.9 sale, its around RM52 each for Castrol GTX professional 15w-40 from Owl Station. Then get one or 2 of those LiquiMoly Engine Flush Plus around RM35 each..

Use 1x engine flush, then Castrol GTX, then engine flush again, then 2 rounds of Castrol GTX, then switch back to your regular preferred engine oil after that. U can feel the engine lightens and FC improves since most of the internals are cleaned, especially the gunks accumulated from ur 300k mileage

wow thanks bro..can explain further how to use this engine flush thing..

i just put the engine flush at my current engine oil..use it about 200km without over revving the engine..the change to new engine oil..use 3k km then put the engine flush use about 200km then change to new engine oil..use for another 3k km and change again new engine oil..then only i go back and use my normal engine oil back..

since its my second car, i think it will take about 6-9 months to complete the cycle hahaa..i have to use the car more frequently then..
*
For Liqui Moly its different.. Right before changing oil, u pour it in and let it run for 10-15mins. Then change oil straightaway. Dont drive the car.

Nope, is just my own survey. I suspect cloud it be I use the 30 EO that's why the gasket won't last long!

Cos when new car the 1st few years was using 40, and the gasket can last about 3~4 years, which is reasonable for me.

Is just I guess only, due to 40 can take higher temperature, I check with workshop, mostly say not related....
*
In reality if ur engine is operating at such high temp that it matters between using 30 or 40 oil, then u need to consider flushing ur radiator and changing a better coolant. tongue.gif

Lol.. Mine run for around 150k km before i changed.. I see no degradation in my coolant or any engine oil leaking into the radiator area..
Never had overheating issues too.
