4 Litres of engine oil becomes 1 litre plus left over only...
5W-30 full synthetic oil really can't use in our hot country here?

I even use 0W before, all seems okay.
Until recently.

OK let me set this engine oil debacle straight once and for all. It has cropped up too many times.
Engine oil u buy in Malaysia are called multigrade oil. such as 0W-30, 5W-40, 15W-50 etc. Multi grade means the viscosity of the engine oil changes according to temperature.
The 'W' in the front part of the oil specs means WINTER grade. It is
TOTALLY IRRELEVANT[SIZE=7] in malaysia as our ambient temp never go lower than 25Celcius.
Why not sell single grade oil in Malaysia then? Well its because economic of scale blah blah blah..
Multigrade oil flows EASIER in lower temps and gets more vicious/slower flow rate or in layman term 'THICKER' when engine reaches optimal operating temp.
The 30/40/50 is the thickness of the engine oil during operating temp. When engine are designed, the moving parts have a certain need for tolerance. The oil is then there to fill in the gap in the moving parts to lubricate it.
Older gen/high powered/high cylinder count engines GENERALLY requires higher viscosity oil. Campro are designed for a minimum 40 grade oil, but recommended in owners booklet is 50 grade.
Running lower viscosity oil makes the engine feels lighter because of thinner oil film between moving parts hence lower resistance, BUT downside is accelerated engine wear and tear. The moving parts wear down more often and end up the tolerance or the gap between moving parts increases and the thin oil film wont be able to provide a good layer of protection.
A THINNER OIL FILM also means the amount of oil is lesser, hence lower amount of heat generated from the friction is able to transfer away from the moving parts into the engine oil. Hence the common misconception that thinner oil doesnt work in hot weather. Bezza, Axia, Civic 1.5 turbo are common examples of engine able to run 0W-20, 5W-20 engine oil without fail in Malaysia BECAUSE the engine was designed for it.
Engine oil consumption issue is either due to engine oil leaking out from the seals and/or piston walls. So if u dont see oil drips on ur block or floor when the car is stationary, then the engine oil u are using is too 'THIN' for your car which has a high mileage and u need to move up to 40 grade oil. If it continues to consume oil even at 40, move up to 50 grade. If it still makan oil, then gg liao go for engine rebuild.
FYI my car is more than 200k mileage yet im able to use 0W-40 Fully syn oil for my engine. There is no such thing as old cars cant use Fully Syn oil, its just the grade that matters. A fully syn is always superior than Semi syn at the same grade. Is there a difference between 0W40 and 5W40 and 10W40? Yes there is, it affects the Viscosity change Index of the oil. There are slight difference between these oils eventhough its 40 grade oil. But its just too advance if ur car is stock and just meant for daily use.
To recommend a brand, I highly suggest using Castrol. Their oils are one of the best in the market. I use Castrol Edge Professional 0W-40.
If u feel ur engine has a bit gunk build up and want to clean it up, use mineral oil like Castrol GTX and change it around 60% of its lifespan (3000km) or use semi syn and change every 5k km. It is more effective than using engine flush which tends to be more expensive and u are able to maintain engine at optimum performance.
