If you stick at a low resolution, it will look worse the larger monitor. I personally would not be able to stand gaming at a widescreen equivalent of 800x600 on say a 20" monitor.

Similarly, the increase in the size of the monitor from 20.1" to 22" without an increase in the resolution of 1680x1050 would mean that it's a decrease in quality because presumably you would notice the pixels. For some people this is noticeable for others, it is not.

Your viewing distance also determines how noticeable the pixels are and if you sit closer to your monitor you'll notice it. And that's it really. What's all this rubbish about tn panels and crap. It doesn't matter. What you do is - you go to a shop, look at a monitor, and make a decision for yourself on whether the picture is good enough for you and whether you can afford it or not...

Not true.  I run a dual monitor setup and you don't necessarily clone the desktops.  I normally have a movie/game running on the primary display and have non essential stuff like vista widgets, messenger, firefox, i-tunes running on my secondary display.  Yes having an extended desktop rawks.  For work it's even better, excel on one screen, word on another, etc.. really improves productivity.  It's so easy to set up a dual monitor extended desktop as well, all done in the driver, which even has a wizard for idiots!

In terms of having a game run over 2 desktops and have some added functionality, it all depends on whether the application supports it or not.  I would say even then, I can't see it adding much to my enjoyment of a game.

edit: to keep within topic, this is the widescreen thread after all, i have a total of 1680+1280 pixel width to clutter up my desktop with thumbup.gif

Yo, he was talking about GAMES. Not other applications. Anyway, if a game is spent across monitors, 2 for most people (3 or more for people who has the moolah), the game would need to have support for it. There are tools such as Matrox's to enable games to expand across multiple screens, but I'm not sure where or how to get them.

If I'm correct... DELL only has one on one kind of warranty. The only thing is... most of the time you will receive a refurbished unit. or perhaps you mean money back guarantee??

And 5 feets is more than enuf to watch dvd.. dunno bout pirated dvds though. Theirs tend to be uglier sometimes laugh.gif

About 1 to 1 replacement, as long as your LCD is still UNDER WARRANTY with DELL, you are entitled it. Dell would not take your LCD for RMA. They will straight replace you with another one on the spot if the problem is found. However, AFAIK, you will risk getting refurbished units if you requested for RMA.

About the pixelation, for one, it really depends on the DVD quality you are watching at. If its poor, it will be noticeable. For me, it does look fine after about 5 feet away. But the acceptance really depends on personal preferences..

I would say majority of the RMA request would resulting in replacement of a refurbished unit. Those who have a very solid reason that DELL is providing a faulty unit. eg: the 2007WFP Rev.A00 will have the chance to argue
for a brand new replacement.

akachester, what is RMA? I was thinking of extending the warranty to 5 years for safety measures. but the refurbished unit has to be better than mine in order to replace my faulty LCD right? IF thats the case then if the replacement unit(refurbished) does have the same problem, should i keep the faulty one and reject the refurbished LCD OR request for another replacement? sweat.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Well, in some cases, if your unit is faulty within the first month or so, you might be able to get new unit as well like what i get here..

RMA - Return Merchandise Authorization

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Return_Mercha...e_Authorization

In short, the term is used when you wanted to warranty a faulty item.

When you receive a refurbished unit and its not up to your expectation, you can always let Dell know that you do not like that unit with bla bla bla problem and they will exchange you with another unit..
