October 12th 2007

After the recent annoucement of the 20" Dell SP2008WFP screen, which we discussed in our news article here, Dell have now announced the release of a new 22" and 24" model in their range. Details were released yesterday in Japan. The models announced are:

Dell E248WFP - 24"WS, 1920 x 1200 resolution, 5ms response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m2 brightness and 160/160 viewing angles. As many have anticipated, the screen is unmistakedly TN Film. The screen does offer an extended colour gamut covering 92% of the NTSC colour space, an HDCP supported DVI interface (as well as D-sub), and a tilt adjustment from the stand. The retail price in Japan is 68,800 Yen (including tax), with an expected October 23rd release date.

Dell SP2208WFP - 22"WS, 1680 x 1050 resolution, 2ms G2G response time and 2000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. The rest of the spec is not listed at the moment, but again the screen is TN Film based. This model also offers 92% coverage of the NTSC colour gamut, and comes equipped with a 2MP built in webcam (as with the 20" SP2008WFP), DVI, D-sub and HDMI interfaces. The retail price in Japan is 59,800 Yen and the screen is expected to be released on 11th October.

24" TN panel? Crap. Would it be cheaper or more expensive than the current 2407WFP model?

Of course cheaper la. And @ littlelinnet, you cannot convert directly from yen. Price from Msia is always much more cheaper.

currenlty i already take it back to services,
if u want to know whice fac produce the panel.

Turn off your monitor(btm right LCD).
Hold down the menu key on the monitor.
While holding the menu key, turn the monitor back on.
When the screen is on again, release the menu button, and then hit the menu button once.

Instead of the normal menu, a service menu should come up.

if u dun trust the data , u can try to restore the factory setting b4
view the services menu.

services info should be like this

checked! mine is

L2X6w
TSUMO58 VER 1.80
070628 HSKIM ETI. 0

CLEAR ETI > NO
AUTO COLOR > NO
AGING > OFF
PANEL > CMO22W 4L
NVRAM INIT > NO

i'm on CMO panel too tongue.gif but after i read through the forum u gave us, some forumer said the new firmware like 1.14 or the latest 1.80 already solved the ghosting effect.

Added on October 17, 2007, 2:18 amgosh! as for the service menu panel thing is actually not telling which panel we're using sweat.gif xtknight at that forum said it actually showing wat colour temperature on specific panel. & we can change the panel option too doh.gif

my L226WTQ panel option got:

CMO22W 4L = Chi Mei Optoelectronics

LPL 22W WCG = LG-Philips
22W C1
22W 4L
22W 4G
20W 4L
20W CI

AUO 22W 4L = AU Optronics
20W 4L
20W 6L
20W 4LG

CPT 20W 6L = ???
20W 4L

i tried all the panel already, seems not much different for the colour temperature but only a bit "differ" for the colour to have cooler & warmer cool.gif

i wan to say is default.
default mean the original setting from the factory.
u canot expect that LGL factory build a LCD, and set the default panel to CMO22W 4L.
the only reason that the default panel is set the CMO22W 4L is because that it produce by CMO.

and the ghosting problem only happen when the back is grey and the moving object is red or other deep color.
other then this, there are no problem for my LCD,
when i play dota, no single ghosting.
when i watch movie, when the movie is showing midnight(mean the time inside the movie is midnight),
i can freq see the ghosting/halo effect.

ya lo, i did try several diffrent panel setting, but not all, then i assume all is same,
maybe i to pissed that CMO and lose my mind, cos that CMO cause alot of problem at samsung 226bw,
that y i choose L226WTQ, and CMO again.

but i can confirm that i try LPL22W 4L b4,but still the same,
and got other ppl say , it can be solve by disable the RTC/overdrive ,but not for LG, is for samsung.
currently LG did not provide this feature ,let ppl disable RTC/overdrive.
and some also say, just lower the the brightness, so that halo will not that clear(easy to notice),

but now, i already take it back to warranty.
