Yup true. Pretty good deal imo. It’s the F model not G, but should quite similar in terms of performance.

I’m looking at the GX800 currently on Lazada, 3.7k for 55 inch model. Either that, the X8500F, or Q60 49 inch. 2 weeks to decide.

Yes, but mind you Samsung RU8000 (2019) is slightly worse than the NU8000 (2018). So latest is not always better. You’d have to see/compare it yourself.

A downgrade from a peak brightness of 800 nits (nu8000) to the typical modern TV level of 300 nits (ru8000) is actually very significant due to the removal of local dimming system .

Avoid at all cost imo , either wait for the massive discount on Q75R or go for Panasonic's GX800 instead .

In other words , it is just a 2019 version of the X8000E models which I have been telling people to stay away a long while ago .

High input latency , cheap typical brightness , 60hz panel ... seriously Sony you can do better .

If you are buying X8000G , save yourself some money and get a X7000G instead , which is cheaper and free yourself from the Sony Android OS disaster , then spend the saved $$$ for a TV box.

Hi guys,

Need some advice and recommendation for a 49/50 inch TV. My budget around 2.2k and cheaper will be better rclxm9.gif
Mostly used for console gaming, casual movie and youtube.

So far I found these at about same price range, looking for the best one.

- UA50NU7090KXXM
- UA49RU7300KXXM
- KD49X7000G
- 49UM7290PTD

Unlike pc parts, Smart TV reviews are hard to find and confusing doh.gif

Thanks in advance notworthy.gif

Buying a new tv for the house.
I don't really know much bout tvs.

Went to harvey norman to browse around. One of the salesperson recommended this two options https://imgur.com/a/sXyExHo

are this ok? the Sony X7000G seems like the popular choice in thread.

would love to hear your advise, or a better option than these two.

thank you

Harvey Norman having good promo now, saw a 55 inch RU7100 going for around 2.3k ohmy.gif

Will a 49 inch X7000G which is going for around 2.2k still be better than a 55 inch RU7100? unsure.gif

or grab an older 55 inch X7000F for about 2.2k also.

Damn hard to decide since my budget quite tight.

X8000G is the successor of the not so well received X8000E back from Sony's 2017 release .

There aren't much difference between the two since Sony is being generous with their basic TV model this year , except for a few minor features like X8000G has bluetooth support , X8000g has 4 HDMI ports while X70G has 3 .

and 7000G does not support wifi 'ac'..only till 'n'

Hi all,
I just went over shop survey 4k TV.Tested Sony X7000g/8000G and Panasonic GX600/GX800.
Shop services very good as i asked them to playback same movie to display out .... at first tested only Panasonic GX600 and GX800 with 4k demo Batman scene....GX800 very impressive. Later on i went another shop which compare all Sony X8000G and Panasonic GX800.... just HD movies which observed Sony X8000G wins over Panasonic in terms of details and black colours.

However i am also going to replace my current Panasonic Plasma which use above 10 years. As for pricing, Panasonic more expensive then Sony but in terms of quality pictures,Sony are impress....Will get one hook up with Panasonic Bluray and Sony PS4 Pro.

Hmmm...pana GX800 has HCX signal processor while Sony X8000G only has 4k x-reality video upscaler. (unlike X8500G has x1 signal processor).

So I expect GX800 to have more details in image than X8000G, but I never tried any HCX equipped TVs before. no idea smile.gif
Already view X8000G, I am satisfied with the PQ.

Not a technical review though, more like a hands-on preview.

The basic spec of the TV remains unchanged , even if they have swapped the VA screen for IPS .

People have been a bit too paranoid about the worse contrast rating of IPS around these corners lately .
I consider myself having an eagle eye when it comes to display screens , even so it is difficult for me to distinguish the difference between an IPS and VA in a decently bright room just by looking at the contrast ratings . ( beside the viewing angles , of course )

So to reiterate , IPS TV is fine if you are going to use the TV as a living room TV where it is usually lit and bright .

Panasonic is all about accuracy , they do not add any flavoring on top of the already excellent picture quality on their TV .

This can put them below the competition at times , because when people compare their TV with another brand , for eg Samsung which is known to pump out oversaturated picture with much of artificial sharpening , they (Panasonic ) come out at the bottom . In the AV scenes , accuracy of the display is a crucial aspect . When you apply too much post processing onto playing content , it will alter and changes the atmosphere of the movie / pictures and often lead to negative side effects .

All I can tell you is , GX800 is a very accurate TV especially for the price tag . It is as accurate as those OLED TV where people pay a premium price for , which is saying a lot for an LCD TV .
