The basic spec of the TV remains unchanged , even if they have swapped the VA screen for IPS .
People have been a bit too paranoid about the worse contrast rating of IPS around these corners lately .
I consider myself having an eagle eye when it comes to display screens , even so it is difficult for me to distinguish the difference between an IPS and VA in a decently bright room just by looking at the contrast ratings . ( beside the viewing angles , of course )
So to reiterate , IPS TV is fine if you are going to use the TV as a living room TV where it is usually lit and bright .
Panasonic is all about accuracy , they do not add any flavoring on top of the already excellent picture quality on their TV .

This can put them below the competition at times , because when people compare their TV with another brand , for eg Samsung which is known to pump out oversaturated picture with much of artificial sharpening  , they (Panasonic ) come out at the bottom .  In the AV scenes , accuracy of the display is a crucial aspect . When you apply too much post processing onto playing content , it will alter and changes the atmosphere of the movie / pictures and often lead to negative side effects .

All I can tell you is , GX800 is a very accurate TV especially for the price tag . It is as accurate as those OLED TV where people pay a premium price for , which is saying a lot for an LCD TV .

The panel for this TV is only 50/60Hz but not 100/120Hz, i think this is another issue (professional TV reviewer/calibrator Vincent also mention motion is not a strong point for this TV)....other than this, if compare the Pana OS with Andriod TV, WebOS, it could be another downside- lack of functionality, too bored, of course this depend on ppl.

you may compare features but no PQ since this is not asia model (IPS type).
Europe: GX800B (VA)
Asia & Australia : GX800K (IPS)
Taiwan: GX800W (IPS)

All,

Hisense has recently released 2 new models (B7200 & B7700) with Android TV. I know they are VA panels which is okay for me. I plan to use it in my bedroom.

Lazada has listing around RM1.8K for 50". I've checked with some local tv shops. They can do lower than RM1.7K!

Anyone has experience with these new TVs?

[Update] to correct model number -> B7200 & B7700.

Yes, B7200 & B7700. Sorry!

50" is B7200 only.

Not much info on different between B7200 & B7700 except B7700 is ultra-thin design & B7200 has slightly wider plastic bezel.

Free gift & lucky draw before 29 Sept.

Also, a shop has offered 3+2 years warranty with decent price. Tempting to pull the trigger!

I think B7700 is for bigger screen size and B7200 for smaller screen size.

Hisense has the cheapest Dolby Vision TV.

B7200 has 16 zones local dimming. But I'm not sure if it's effective on providing better contrast! Anyway, a VA panel is a good starting point for contrast & suitable for my not-so-bright bedroom application, I think.

For budget TVs below RM2K, HDR & WCG are not on the priority list of features. Even it has the those features, effectiveness of the features is a question mark!

For Hisense B7200 & B7700, I can't find info on edge-lit or direct LED...!

[Update] Hisense South Africa site states that B7200 is edge-lit led, 50 Hz refresh rate, 4000:1 native contrast ratio & color depth is 8bit+FRC.

Exactly dude. Cheapest TV with Dolby Vision (decoding only) and Local dimming.
Build quality of B7700 not bad either!

16 zone local dimming is normal for edge lit designated backlight..I wont help much to increase contrast but it is better to have than nothing right smile.gif

Yes. If your usage mainly on non-HDR source then it make sense to consider this model. .

I already check both B7200 and B7700 in real. B7200 is direct lit while B7700 is edge lit (to make slim design).
At a glance, cheaper model B7200 colour and saturation out of the box looks better than B7700. The shop also agree with me.
B7700 black level better than B7200.
The main cons for me is motion for both TV.
I have tested youtube 4K, played football clip and the judder is at worst level + you cant simply see much details during fast movement (Compare to sony 60 Hz tvs). Even I hv tried switch the motion preset from smooth, natural, clear bla bla....still worst!
Anyhow the android TV UI of both TV more snappy than sony X8000G. I guess hisense using newer chipset.

Speaking about the Android TV part of B7200, I cannot find any info on CPU, RAM & NAND flash size...!

[Update] Ive bought a B7200 & found out the chip is from Mediatek MT5886 with 2GB RAM & 10GB of flash storage.

Go to a shop with display unit and interact with the menu ? I would think you can't hope that it has high in spec. They usually can't run browser and multitasking properly.

I read that B7100 is using a MStar MSD6886 SoC chip. I don't expect high on B7200.

I'll still hook up my MiBox S in case build-in Android system is not smooth enough!

I don't own the TV but I got a chance to tinker around the TV thanks to a generous friend .

The SM9000 is obviously , quite a bit better than both XG85 and GX800 ( especially in dark room ) because it features a full array local dimming system .

I think GX800 is the new sweet spot for mid range TV in Malaysia atm since NU8000 has been discontinued .

It is decently bright ( 400-500 nits ++) , very natural ( and most importantly , Accurate ) color reproduction among the TVs in this price range . Supporting both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision is also a plus .
You will not find any better TV at this price range beside NU8000 or when Q70R / Q75R getting a massive discount , not in Malaysia at least .
*
Is GX800 -IPS type have 400-500 nits? where u get this number?

IPS panels have nothing to do with the brightness of the TV.

The one I measured was at 440 nits [L20 test pattern]before calibration , out of the box .
That is nothing to write home about as GX800 are not very bright TVs .

There are of course panel variance in play since these are mass production models (-+100 nits)
Sony entry level models can hit these numbers as well .

These numbers are toned down a little in calibrator's review because they have calibrated the TV to more accurate settings.
