IPS panels have nothing to do with the brightness of the TV.

There are of course panel variance in play since these are mass production models (-+100 nits)
Sony entry level models can hit these numbers as well .
These numbers are toned down a little in calibrator's review because they have calibrated the TV to more accurate settings.
