IPS panels have nothing to do with the brightness of the TV.
The one I measured was at 440 nits [L20 test pattern]before calibration , out of the box .
That is nothing to write home about as GX800 are not very bright TVs .
There are of course panel variance in play since these are mass production models (-+100 nits)
Sony entry level models can hit these numbers as well .

These numbers are toned down a little in calibrator's review because they have calibrated the TV to more accurate settings.

do you know how many local dimming zone it have?

none , how do you count " zones " in edge lit based TV ? You can't , there aren't any zones .

In other words , it is just a 2019 version of the X8000E models which I have been telling people to stay away a long while ago .
High input latency , cheap typical brightness , 60hz panel ... seriously Sony you can do better .
If you are buying X8000G , save yourself some money and get a X7000G instead , which is cheaper and free yourself from the Sony Android OS disaster , then spend the saved $$$ for a TV box.
Ugh , no . Get the A9F instead , which is cheaper and actually has more rams .

Why do say Sony Android OS is a disaster?
I am thinking to get Sony over Samsung due to Sony being an Android TV

The number of LED in edge = number of zone.
I guess so

What do you think about its motion?
Did you know its native motion rate of the panel?

Hi all sifus, would like a recommendation for below usage:

- living room, sitting maybe 2m away
- mostly medium lighting to dark
- ps4 pro gaming
- lots of netflix & amazon prime video
- 55" preferably

Can suggest the best 4K models for below budget? Based on my reading of this thread, I see the below 2 being shortlisted, are they other's better within the price range?

Below 3K

Philips 55PUT6233S - 2199
Sony KD-55X7500F - 2399

Below 4k

Samsung UA55NU8000 - 3699
Panasonic TH-55GX800K - 3709

cheers and TIA!

Thanks for your feedback bro.

Considering 55X8000G vs 55NU8000 which would be better in terms of the picture quality and for PS4 Pro gaming? smile.gif
I hear that Sony TV's general have more input lag?

It is safe to say that the NU8000 is still more preferable to the GX800?

Definitely NU8000 if you expect better HDR gaming! NU8000 also have very low input lag and support FreeSync too (Variable sync)
Generally yes, but some new models are pretty good.

I will prefer NU8000! Better build in sound system & higher peak brightness (~800). 120Hz panel!
Better interface than pana.

GX800 strength: Accurate colour (subjective), Dolby Atmos/Vision support.

Thanks for the info!
I'll look out for the NU8000 then smile.gif. Should be a step up from my old KU6000.

I also considering new 4K TV (>RM3k).
Still having old pana plasma (working without any glitch  rclxms.gif ,all this years).
So,I narrowed my choice to 49" Panasonic or Sony.
Need to choose between:

Panasonic
TH-49EX600K...RM2300
TH-49FX600K...RM2800

Sony
KD49X8000E....RM3000
KD49X7500F.....RM2700

Any comments are welcome..... rclxms.gif

My humble opinion, just get the biggest tv with your budget, 55 inch should be no problem, remember to get the extra 2 or 3 years warranty, should be worth it.

Have you seen the GX800 in person? Wonder what’s the refresh rate of the IPS panel that comes into Malaysia.

Been looking for it too recently but so far can’t seem to find one. If you can get a new one with a good price, go for it!

Thanks all for the advice. After scouring high and low for the NU8000 I finally managed to find a 55" one for RM2899, discounted from RM2999. Found it advertised by a personal seller on FB of all places (not a single trace of 55NU8000 on any online e-commerce sites sad.gif), but turns out the unit is sold by HLK and is brand new stock. I added the +3 years warranty (by insurance) bringing the total to RM3149.

If anyone interested PM me and I'll give the contact, however their remaining units may be new stock or may be demo unit depending on availability in their branches. Apparently I got the last new stock in Taipan.
