Hi guys, I need 2 recommendations.

The first is a 65 inch tv under rm6k. For living room, mainly Netflix & sometimes football on Astro. Was looking at the Sony X8500F 65”, is it the best option for me?

The second is a 49/55 inch tv under rm3k for my bedroom. Mainly Netflix & PS4.

LG 55SK80 good? Rm4688 at Harvey Norman w 5 years warranty. Prolly can get cheaper online tho. Looking for a decent 4k tv under Rm5k.

55” for Netflix & PS4 Pro.

Almost finish. There are a few shops in Lazada selling this model but not much stock i guess.. and they are still selling around rm3.8 to 4.1k which is on the high side for an old model. Desa Home did a clearance of this model this month, the lowest i've seen they were selling was rm3.2k. Now no more stock in Desa. For 65" size, there are a few more nrand new stocks left.
*
I see, actually the RM3.8k one from Lazada is from Desa I think. But since a lot of people are saying the RU8000 is lower spec, I gues it’s worth it. How much is the 65” one?

Btw, can I get a better TV for RM3.8k? 55 inch.

No more stock from Desa. even display units kena sapu. yes RU8000 is newer but in term of brightness it is much lower than NU making it less effective when viewing HDR contents. However, RU's tizen OS is faster and response time is slightly better for gaming. it is also rm1k more than NU, making it not worth the money. 65" NU is about rm5.6k in Desa, still pricey. 2 months ago Best Denki was selling their display unit 65" for rm3999. i missed the boat.

I can't find any better HDR-capable tv compared to NU8000 in that price range. I personally think this model can go a loong way until samseng starts selling QD-OLED with similar price. Maybe sifus can recommend other options.

What about the 49” Q60?

A decent tv for this size, but not as good as Q6FN. Just nice for bedroom use.

Do they sell the Q6FN 49” in Malaysia? Price?

Tried long & hard to find the NU8000 but to no avail. So I guess I have to get the current models. Right now the choices are the 49” Q60 & the Sony X85F 55”. Not too sure about the other models under RM4k. My knowledge about TV is very limited as opposed to PC hardware haha.

Is Dolby Vision available on midrange TV, or only OLED?

Panasonic's new GX800 is compatible with Dolby Vision too . 55" is below $4k now.

Thanks! Looking at it now. Very promising. Are local dimming models much more expensive?

I don't own the TV but I got a chance to tinker around the TV thanks to a generous friend .

The SM9000 is obviously , quite a bit better than both XG85 and GX800 ( especially in dark room ) because it features a full array local dimming system .

I think GX800 is the new sweet spot for mid range TV in Malaysia atm since NU8000 has been discontinued .

It is decently bright ( 400-500 nits ++) , very natural ( and most importantly , Accurate ) color reproduction among the TVs in this price range . Supporting both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision is also a plus .
You will not find any better TV at this price range beside NU8000 or when Q70R getting a massive discount , not in Malaysia at least .
*
Yeah I’m looking at the 55” GX800 as well. Either that or the 49” Q60R. Still deciding

Just check out the sony 55inchx8000g at seng heng around 3k after trade in and rebate, quite worth... thinking to change too XD smile.gif

for sony 55inch x8500g around 4.3k ... ( if around 3 k is super cheap already) rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

Yup true. Pretty good deal imo. It’s the F model not G, but should quite similar in terms of performance.

I’m looking at the GX800 currently on Lazada, 3.7k for 55 inch model. Either that, the X8500F, or Q60 49 inch. 2 weeks to decide.

Yes, but mind you Samsung RU8000 (2019) is slightly worse than the NU8000 (2018). So latest is not always better. You’d have to see/compare it yourself.

Definitely NU8000 if you expect better HDR gaming! NU8000 also have very low input lag and support FreeSync too (Variable sync)
Generally yes, but some new models are pretty good.
I will prefer NU8000! Better build in sound system &  higher peak brightness (~800). 120Hz panel!
Better interface than pana.

GX800 strength: Accurate colour (subjective), Dolby Atmos/Vision support.
*
Have you seen the GX800 in person? Wonder what’s the refresh rate of the IPS panel that comes into Malaysia.

Thanks for the info!
I'll look out for the NU8000 then smile.gif. Should be a step up from my old KU6000.
*
Been looking for it too recently but so far can’t seem to find one. If you can get a new one with a good price, go for it!

If compare GX740 and GX800 the motion interpolation rate (BMR) of GX800 is a bit higher than GX740 because
of the panel difference.

Other than panel as I know both model have same features and spec, which means same hardware (except panel).
So if GX740 is 60Hz panel, GX800 might be 120Hz...just my guess.

The info on web for GX800 (IPS version) is very limited sad.gif
*
Yeah no review available for the IPS panel as well. My dad is planning to buy a 65” next week and currently the GX800 is what I recommended him to get. Rm5.5k on Lazada, hopefully it’s a good choice.

A good option is the Samsung NU8000 from HLK. They have a few units left. RM3k+-. I can pass you the contact number I got from @daijobu if you want it.

For Sony you can get the X85F(business model) from a forumer here for less than Rm4k.

For Dolby Vision, the Panasonic GX800. Rm3.7k+- from Lazada.
