QUOTE(InitialB @ Oct 11 2021, 03:22 PM) Honda words should be closer to green earth engine, bottle cap color and finishing, vietnam back printing, viscosity of the lube, bottle finishing and etc. I thought got some special skill to detect fake EO. Rupa2nya, just the same method where most people use. Compare the bottles with ori.Once you change an original oil, your engine will feel lighter cuz the old oil with dirty substances are gone. So are the feeling of using original filter cuz it really did the jobs what an oil filter must do Thing is, I need to compare Toyota, Honda, Proton, Perodua, I have to standby all the ori bottles to compare. First, I have to spend money to buy the ORI ORI oil and then compare to some shops claiming to be ori. Been there done that. Not 100% effective. Waste of time and money too. Also for the viscosity tester, I don't think there are anything cheaper than few k to build a tester. Most of the proper testers are lab equipment that if your pomen know how to use, he no need to open workshop. Open science lab make more money. Please share if there are cheaper method to test oil viscosity. Don't tell me go freeze the fake oil and genuine oil then compare the flow rate. And no, you cannot tell viscosity by looking at the lube or rubbing with your finger. You also mentioned, knowing only after putting the oil into the engine. Isn't that too late already? Plus, fake oil and genuine oil sometimes are hard to tell even by driving the car. I am very sure if I give you do a blind test of fake vs genuine oil, you won't be able to tell them apart 10 out of 10. Maybe 5 out of 10 which is still not accurate. Sigh..the way you say I thought it's some new kung fu for me to learn to tell apart engine oils. If got, please share. I am always eager to learn new things. Unless u can take out the oil then show u how to test lo and smell lo. Lesson to be learned, don't be cheapskate and want something the price lower beyond the original . |

Yes, if the 5W30 carries MB 229.5 OEM approval.I think they r using synthium 5w30 MB 229.5 Can I buy 5w30 from tesco giant shell to use No, if it doesn't. Having said this, I know for a fact the SHU 5W40 from Giant stores carries MB 229.5 OEM approval and their pricing is very very friendly, forget about what Shell Malaysia marketing says. It is suitable for any MB that requires MB 229.5 OEM approval , viscosity does not matter is this regard. |

QUOTE(cempedaklife @ Oct 12 2021, 06:40 AM) Shell Helix HX8 5W30 SN+ (or Malaysian version marketed as HX8 X 5W30 SN+) available in Giant USJ1 has MB 229.5 approval at quite a discount from Shell station version even during non-promotional period. Of course, Helix Ultra 5W40 at lower price carrying MB 229.5 approval has been available in Giants for a long long time as you understood it. None of AeonBig Subang Jaya stock carries MB 229.5 approval. This post has been edited by zeng: Oct 12 2021, 09:13 AM |
