just found out something else.. visa electron isn't recognized throughout the world, but, as a policy, merchants that take normal visa will have to accept visa electron as part of the "VISA's Accept All Cards Policy" for more info: http://corporate.visa.com/md/fs/consumer/electron.jsp

Well i am having a PB Visa Electron Debit Card, their services are good, but I do think that they can improve on the card quality that is. I find that practically every single wording comes off from the card.
Why not give ambank's mastercard debit a try? The process is also as simple as PB Visa Electron...
As for those who are not qualified for a Credit Card, you can actually ask your mom/dad to pledge a fixed deposit with the bank, and then apply the CC with the fixed deposit as a pledge. If you are under 21, then ask your mom/dad to sub the card to you, but relatively, they dont use the card, so the credit limit is all yours.
A good habit for CC users, get an envelope for every month, after using your CC, put the transaction chit together with the amount that you have signed into the envelope. Guarantee to be able to control your spending and also meet the debt requirement at the end of the month. Remember, CC is not for you to buy a lot of unncessary things and accrue up debts, CC just as a mean to facilitate easier transaction and reduce the hassle of carrying a lot of cash around.

QUOTE(MoNnY @ May 24 2007, 12:02 AM) u asked them about which part ? the ambank nexg part or the visa electron part ? Genting doesn't accept any debit card in general. That's what I asked them. Don't know if they already changed their policy or not. Other debit cards around are UOB debit cards, EON Bank Impian and Alliance Bank Payment Cards/International Debit Card. ATM cards that can become debit cards are Al Rajhi, Alliance Bank Islamic Acconts and BSN Matrix. They are either MasterCard or Visa Electron. That's a lot of options (might be more)...i guess we need to come out with a comparison chart Prepaid or debit cards are still a new concept to many local merchants. Sometimes, you just got to insist them to swipe it. I use my PB Electron online, at Kinokuniya and petrol stations (when the balance still more than 50), without any problems. I also saw one guy use it at Cash Converter. The cashier reluctant but the fella ask her to swipe it first

Air Asia group's Tune Money will be coming up with a prepaid credit card when Tune Money launches in September 2007 - least that's what I read in an article. I'm certainly looking forward to that.

I think it's going to work just like AmBank's NexG. Tune Money is teaming up a local bank to oversee the financial mechanism of it and if I remembered it correctly, it's CIMB Bank. So to say, there's actually a difference between prepaid credit card and a debit card. The only prepaid credit card thus far we have in Malaysia is NexG, and Tune Money's will be the second. If you can't wait for it, I'd suggest you go for PB's Visa Electron. I have had some not-so-pleasant experiences with NexG and it's in one of the other threads in this forum if you want to read about it.

Was facing some problems as the payment just could not accept the card. Anybody ever experienced using a debit card to purchase tickets from Air Asia?
