Sigh, its quite the hassle to take when you have another bank account and yet the Debit card (of all kinds) does not allow you link directly to it (unless you are with the same bank that offers you the card itself).

I'm with RHB bank and I'm waiting for the time when it'll have its own official Debit card; since I'm not a big believer in credit cards.

I got MOL freedom, a prepaid mastercard. Took a long time to get approved. But after that, I have no problem using it. Buy books from amazon, pay through paypal (buy things on ebay and donate to mozilla firefox). Can access www.eonbank.com.my to check my balance statement. Can use the card to check balance via EON Atm.

So far no problem using it so I'm quite satisfied with it.

How much is the charge?

How about in Jusco? It is used in ATM or debit card mode?

AmBank expects 200,000 new credit card users

KUALA LUMPUR: AmBank (M) Bhd targets to secure about 200,000 new credit card users within one year for its newly launched AmBank NexG-iTalk Prepaid Mastercard, the first telco co-branded prepaid card with its partner, Telekom Malaysia Bhd ™.

According to AmBank (M) Bhd, managing director of retail banking, Mohamed Azmi Mahmood, the NexG-iTalk Prepaid Mastercard's competive advantage was its dual-functionality as a secure, chip-based credit card as well as a prepaid calling card with iTalk functionality.

"This alliance between two giants in our respective industries will bring much mutual benefit to all stakeholders and customers. With this launch, both AmBank and TM customers will now enjoy a wider range of features in a single card that can be used for payment and for making calls at low rates.

"Cardholders are also rewarded for their usage simultaneously by AmBonus, TM and RealRewards loyalty programmes," he told reporters after the launch on Monday.

AmBank and state-owned phone company TM had recently joined forces to boost each other's card business. The NexG-iTalk Prepaid Mastercard is the first fruit of the strategic collaboration.

According to TM, chief operating officer, TM Retail, Malaysia Business, Datuk Adnan Rofiee, iTalk is TM's prepaid calling card service which uses Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) and could be used on any mobile or fixed telephone service. "The NexG-iTalk Prepaid Mastercard offers compelling features, including iTalk's low international call rates, flexibility in reloading, wide acceptance and also for dial-up Internet access," he said, adding that there was a possibility of AmBank having co-branded cards with TM's subsidiary Celcom (M) Bhd.

I just check from tunemoney.com. Tune card is VISA debit card. Anunual fee RM9.99. You have to go and collect your tune card from selected Pos office if your application success and Pos Malaysia will charge you RM3. Reload via CIMB or PosMalaysia will be charge RM2. If reload via FPX will be charge RM0.50.

First 1000 applicants will get FREE tune card. But I can't find what they define by free. Annual fee waive for first year or what?

i use molfreedom.

one thing that i learn, if you try to topup online (fpx, maybank2u) and did some mistakes ... and mol reject your application.... your money will be hold by mol (not eon bank, not maybank). call mol.

that what i experience. i make a mistakes (the card expiry date). i call eon bank ... they just said the money is not there. i call maybank, maybank said the money has been accepted. by the way maybank hold my line the longest ... 10 minute just for checking my money ....

lastly call mol ... yes the money is hold. i call mol everyday for 2 days, then they transfer the money to my account by RHB bank .... well .. my money travel from maybank to eon bank but got kick, land on mol .. and somehow it goes to rhb and got back to my card ....

other than that ... it's quite a pleasant to use mol freedom smile.gif

i just get 1 from public bank, can online apply.
after compare with ambank Nexg, i think Public Bank better.
Nexg on MasterCard, Public Bank on Visa

here is the compare
http://www.liewcf.com/blog/archives/2006/0...aid-mastercard/

Public Bank Debit Card no problem with paypal.
Public Bank Debit Card take less than 7 days to reach after RM25 min topup is made.

But, Public Bank Card.... Ugly...

I've just started using PB Visa Electron for paypal....

everything was smooth. after i deposited rm25, they sent me the card, ATM PIN and i went to my nearest branch and applied for internet banking service for the card account.

i went with this instead of ambank nexg because it does not have extra charges for overseas transactions(foreign currency).

Imo, even thou PB you need to wait 2-3 weeks to get the card, but annually you only need to pay RM24. For Ambank if I remembers correctly, its about RM3 monthly fee.
For PB I have no problem using it for Paypal too. Ambank I not so sure.
