I wouldn't consider paultan a good comparison as they never mentioned how they test their FC (I wouldn't even consider them as professional automotive reviewers, more like a mixture of humours, advertisement and casual test).
A more reliable source would be real fuel consumption app like fuelly.com or "small bear" app which the china people use.
A quick look into "small bear" app, filtered by (compact suv, transmission = auto, engine type = all)
Average from all owners:Place no 7: CRV 1.5 turbo = 8.24L/100km (1910 users)
Place no 34: Subaru XV 2.0 4wd = 8.77L/100km (78 users)
Place no 125: Boyue 1.8TD = 10.84L/100km (4095 users)
If this app is reliable, difference between CRV and x70 is likely around 2.6L/100km.
Just a rough calculation to share:
Assuming one drives 24k km per year (Malaysian average driver per year, 2013), assuming fuel price RON95 RM2.2/L (RON95 max price)
X70 will need to spend 624L more fuel than CRV, which equals to RM1373/year.
However, of course you have saved at least ~RM30k already with x70.
BTW, I am not a X70 owner, but just trying to give some data to clear some arguements here.
