I don't see the attraction from Bigpay here, it's just your typical prepaid card that can be tracked via the app. The biggest problem for the card is it doesn't have the paywave feature, and it's been overrated on social media for some reason.

Doesn't that make prepaid cards like Mpay and CIMB Lazada card better prepaid card alternatives?

Look at it from another angle. Bigpay is an E-wallet that you can use the app to transfer money to your friends and pay using the app (when they have merchants) Because they don't have any merchants at launch, they give you a prepaid MasterCard as a fall back so you can still use it. They envision that in the near future, you will no longer need your card. Also, you can still use your prepaid card when you are going overseas. They have an advantage that other E-wallet which will just stop working the moment you step out of malaysia. After all, they are owned by an airline.

First, I use it for online overseas transactions e.g. Taobao. Super super good rate, no other card beats it. Can swipe physically in overseas and even withdraw cash locally/overseas (though I will say minimize withdrawal if possible to reduce BigPay's suspicion)

Second, it can be reloaded with credit cards which I earn cash back.

So, these two reasons already bet the rest of competitors hands down. At least for me.

And it can be used for WeChat Pay (if they decide to finally open WeChat Pay here).

Also, lastly, no processing fees to purchase AirAsia tickets.

OT though, there is a specific discussion for BigPay.

just some updates on WeChat Pay MY, guys:

2 days ago I submitted feedback on WeChat Pay MY, my feedback content was something like "sorry to say. it is totally a bad idea to fool around wechat supporters with the fake news that wechat pay is launched in malaysia since june 2018. everybody is either asking why the upgrade takes forever or why the 2 weeks take forever. and no official announcement has been made in the official account."

today they replied with this: "to ensure for the better experience and services to all users, we will release the wallet service accordingly. kindly stay tune and sorry for the inconveniennce caused"

Unfortunately, you will not be able to top up china wallet because wechat has restricted it to China bank card.

I top up WeChat Pay with BigPay on 6 June and request payment from WeChat Pay on 6 June. My Bank Account had received fund from WeChat Pay on 8 June. However, my top up to WeChat pay is still in "Pending" status when I viewed my BigPay transaction history today (29 June). No settlement is done yet..

I think maybe WeChat Pay is facing issue on the payment gateway to receive fund, that's why until now not yet released officially.

Their team is a failure, it's July already and there's still no official announcement.

I rather use Boost now, with KK mart joining their service recently, if they can make it available to use in more convenience stores like 7-11, Familymart and Mynews then I see no reason to even care about Wechat anymore.

in bangsar south, many shops already accept favepay, i think because fave office is here so it's easier for their team to approach shops nearby

Have you tried it?

Not sure if I wanna try it though, not planning to use more than 2 e wallet service, only focusing on Boost and Wechat.

I see some food stalls and restaurants in few malls at Bukit Bintang are accepting Favepay now.

Nowadays I focus on FavePay pair with BigPay. Can earn AirAsia big point.

FavePay - RM1 = 1 bigpoint

For example: if spend RM20 on FavePay which link to BigPay, you get 20 + 1 AirAsia bigpoint plus getting credit rebate on FavePay which can be used in next visit.

For Boost, you can get shake rewards also (like cash rebate)

Give up on Wechat pay now. No news at all.
