It's pretty clear why Nvidia had to release the 2080ti up front, the 2080 is at best matching the 1080ti only today. By comparison in 2016 the 1070 easily matched or beat the Titan X then.
Moore's law is pretty much over even in the GPU space. |

Hmm... 2080 not that much faster than 1080Ti. But that is likely to change with further driver optimization. Many say that RTX is just slightly better GTX with raytracing, which has not been much adopted. Much like Physx, Nvidia tries hard to sell a tech that not many people can appreciate or afford at first. Just wait till raytracing is actively used in games...

For those wanting to get 1080ti, I guess it's not bad to get a 2080, better performance a bit, and has RT and tensor cores. But yeah more money, but not so bad, if you don't mind paying a bit more. If not just get a 1080ti

That 2080 should just cost RM250 more than the 1070... Right now cost RM2k more, that's the RTX tax where it is speculated not fast enough to run at 1080p.
I personally can wait till the 3rd gen of RTX GPU before getting one. For those who live to the fullest, life is shorter, by all means get one and enjoy~ remember to show off some screenshot here for me to drool. |

The RTX 2080 is a compromise card at 4k ultra because some games uses more than 8gb vram and some games cutting it very close.

Well one of the good things that come out of this is that the resale value for the 1080ti/1080 might not drop too much

haha new driver out
first time ever series broke 400 range and size broke 500mb range good luck 4 those still stuck with copper wire lucky I got unified a year ago whatever big updates come it will chew off in few minutes hahahaha QUOTE(bonez_xy @ Sep 18 2018, 09:48 PM) im on 1080p 60hz, it is too overkill if i planning to get 2060. 1060 can easily tame 1080p easily maybe i will upgrade to 1440p within 2 or 3 years. QUOTE(silrave @ Sep 20 2018, 01:26 AM) yeah games nowdays can hit the 8gb mark depending on your graphics settings in game but then again it also comes down to your gaming resolution as higher textures are meant for 4k displays so you can see the details. RTX 2080 is more for 1440p gaming just like 1080ti but 1080ti has the advantage on vram size. |

Happy to know that 2080 and 1080ti benchmarked results are almost identical. Huhu
