Unlikely... It is slightly better than gtx1060, so it wont be priced below RM 550 if card age below 4 years. This post has been edited by mbr: Sep 14 2018, 10:17 AM

QUOTE(Rei7 @ Sep 14 2018, 10:18 AM) Prices until March was pretty high as ASIC miners for Etherium were not widely available and not sure on RTX release, so value and resale of older cards were pretty good. Things are kinda different now... 980Ti is 2 gens ago... Even GTX1070 is closer to RM1600 now than last year's RM2200 price |

QUOTE(Rei7 @ Sep 14 2018, 10:35 AM) If anything, once the benchmark is out, and if 20 series didn't do so well. The price for 10 series and below could maintain how it is, considering how expensive the 20 series is. I just jumped to 1070ti too, which is kinda overkill since I am using 1080p anyway. Will wait and watch the RTX hype, and plan for 1440p monitor first. Am not doing first player shooter so not aiming for 200+ frame per second.Meanwhile I just jump to 1080ti, because no way i'm paying almost double for 2080ti. |

QUOTE(Maxieos @ Sep 15 2018, 08:38 PM) I just knew 2060 = 1080 benchmark. Problem is the unsure pricing on the market (not the msrp)... Whether rm1800 or rm 2400?Then all the gtx 1060 price surely drop ? So , any release info on gtx 2060 ? And it will take a whole before stocks come enough for prices to be stable, maybe earliest before Christmas? |

Just wait for the deals for GTX 1070 Ti (below rm1600) or GTX1080 (below rm2000), hopefully in the next 2-3 months. But don't wait too long in case no more new stock. We have a bunch of people that had been waiting since before Pascal to upgrade, due to inflated prices thanks to cryptomining with GPU.
As for ex mining cards... I would consider them worth the investment only if A) no OC, prefer undervoltage B) less than 2 years old, with receipt available for warranty claim C) Priced less than half of a new card. |

Hmm... 2080 not that much faster than 1080Ti. But that is likely to change with further driver optimization. Many say that RTX is just slightly better GTX with raytracing, which has not been much adopted. Much like Physx, Nvidia tries hard to sell a tech that not many people can appreciate or afford at first. Just wait till raytracing is actively used in games...

QUOTE(Rei7 @ Sep 19 2018, 10:05 PM) For those wanting to get 1080ti, I guess it's not bad to get a 2080, better performance a bit, and has RT and tensor cores. But yeah more money, but not so bad, if you don't mind paying a bit more. If not just get a 1080ti Depends on what games and resolution also la. Not pair with 1080p 60Hz lol. Comparing with Titan XP (https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html), and assuming RTX2080 is 10% better and RTX2080Ti is 25% better (not really, depends on games and settings), and taking some local prices into consideration, looks like GTX1070Ti is in the sweet spot for value

QUOTE(Maxieos @ Sep 20 2018, 09:06 PM) How to check the card was being mining before. Ask the right questions. Often they will tell you how they use the cards, including gpu settings while mining. The pics of card their PC rig would also be a favourable clue that it is there for gaming mainly and not as part of a mining farm, but can be borrowed image from elsewhere. Also other tell-tale signs, but too many to explain here and not 100% foolproof. You just have to ask enough questions to satisfy yourself that the card is not over stressed, and still have warranty as backup. As I know , there is no way to check and only by seller telling. QUOTE(Maxieos @ Sep 20 2018, 09:06 PM) when was the promotion happen ? Someone shared it in Lowyat around end of Aug, maybe to clear stock before SST. I managed to get one. |

QUOTE(invisiblelim @ Sep 21 2018, 11:42 AM) It depends on budget and expectationsImagine for same model, eg 1070Ti Zotac AMP RM 2100, not great at overclock, a bit warmer if only 2 fans, performance say... 85 points MSI Gaming RM 2500, can OC a bit, cooler than zotac, performance maybe 89 points after OC You get extra performance for the extra money spent. But which one is more worth it, you decide. |
