is 2080 / 2080ti upgrade is significant enough over 1080ti?
i'm using 1080ti and i'm satisfied at the moment on 1440p 60fps gaming.
*
My hand also starting to feel itchy... wanna get 1080ti but Nvidia might be announcing new GPU...

Gotta.... hold........... on...

hows the 1070 on 1440p UW? what games u playing?? hmm.gif  smile.gif

Playing AC Origin now. Gotta tweak the settings to get average 60fps. Roaming in town will usually gets around 55fps but during cutscenes, it can drop to 45fps. Anything below 50fps, it will not be smooth even with G-Sync monitor.

Most settings will set to Normal to High, Texture set to Very High & Shadow mostly Low on all of my games. Haha

high - 60
med - 55

LOL... That's what happened to me when I'm playing with the setting in War of Mordor. Very high setting average around 50 fps. Low also 50fps rclxub.gif

Need to restart the game if that's the case. I think it also happened to ACO... Once I hit the FPS I'm okay with then only I'll start playing the game.

Missed those day where I put everything to Very High and it stills gets above 70fps. LOL

Haha... That's why itching for a 1080ti. Wanna max all the settings available! LOL

QUOTE(Someonesim @ May 31 2018, 11:55 PM)
1070 would be absolute entry requirement for 1440P ultrawide. Got

70fps at DOOM
, 40+ at The Division.
Now I'm aiming 2070 which hopefully will be at performance of 1080 to 1080ti
*
DOOM is a well optimised game. Maxed out everything also won't deep below 60fps. LOL

then... maybe.. what Jen-Hsun meant was; 1180 is not "a next gen geforce gtx"...
hence the name is 1180... not 2xxx series...  rolleyes.gif

Time to pull the trigger for 1080 ti. Not gonna wait for New Series Graphic Card as I'm still using 4th gen i5. I think it will bottleneck alot comparing to 1080 ti.

If you game on the X34A, it is wise to wait for next gen since you already rocking a 1070. The price of the 1080 ti will only continue to go down even new 1180 is more expensive, or SST is introduced.
*
New GPU will be expensive... Now it's really a good time to buy. GTX 1080 ti amp extreme only cost RM3.4k

Dont think new GPU will cost that low and there might be bottleneck with my current CPU.

But the 1080ti will drop lower. Yah they might be bottleneck, but a speed bump will still be a speed bump even with bottleneck.
*
Hmmm... how low can it get? Below 3k?

Maybe at least rm500 reading lepo's experience? Do you OC your i5-4690k? Bottleneck shouldn't be that bad at UW1440p eh...
*
Going to overclock it next week. I know it won't bottleneck that much on Ultrawide 1440p but I still will go for Zotac 1080 ti Amp Extreme since it's price at RM3.4k now. Doubt Asus will drop that much.

QUOTE(lepo @ Jul 26 2018, 11:14 AM)
Zotac 1080Ti Amp Edition offer RM2.6k to me..

But i still waiting for some more price drop which idk if that will happen.....
*
Secondhand? Not bad the price.

for AAA games on x34a.. if want to fully use the 100hz with max setting... even 1080ti is not enough....

scare next year, AAA games max setting, 1080ti barely reach 60fps on 1080p monitor... then we doom already la... hahahaha...  laugh.gif
*
Haha... I think 1080 ti is actually overkill in 1080p. No way it can't reach above 60fps on triple A titles that are coming next year!

I don't feel like waiting for 11 series cuz I know the price will be expensive compared to 10 series which are having some great discount right now for brand like Zotac.

Zotac GPU comes with 5 years warranty and maybe, just maybe, it will have problems after 3 years. Then can claim warranty and they replace it with 11 series. Haha... That's some wishful thinking. brows.gif

1080ti is only overkill if you don't know how to use it.

1080ti at 165hz at 1080p, now that's not overkill anymore is it? Think. Framerate > resolution. Stop being stuck in the "60hz standard".
*
Haha... Sorry... my bad... Totally forgotten about it after I switched to Ultrawide 1440p with 100hz. Even if you're gaming at 144hz, it is not overkill with triple A titles on a 1080p.

Thanks for the reminder. I'm actually stuck at 100hz instead of standard 60hz. LOL

Not for me! I'm using G-Sync monitor and anything below 50fps will not be smooth... at least for me.
