No performance comparison between Pascal and Turing of non-RTX games.

A lengthy lecture on Ray Tracing.

A starting MSRP of $499 which turned out to be $599 (FE).

$999 to $1200 for a consumer grade GPU.

And now this... 😞

No thanks Nvidia.

This is the first time I feel let down by a new Nvidia Geforce GPU architecture announcement.

Really was aiming for 2080ti from 980ti, but yeah looking at the price just decided to go with 10 series for now. Could get around 3k or less for a 1080ti, where is a 2080ti would cost around double of the price. I just don't see how it will be worth it. Even considering using the 980ti still till the 30 series comes out lol.

And this is pretty much what Nvidia wants. Pascal stocks are still overloaded, they want people to buy pascal not Turing.

Still a win-win situation for them.

For existing games, Turing will deliver 2x the performance and 4K HDR gaming at 60 FPS on even the most demanding titles.

Gamers Need to Gear Up for 4K HDR

Just as 4K is fast becoming the standard for TVs, PC gamers are moving to 4K — the new breathtaking baseline for games. Monitor prices are dropping below $300 and shipments have increased 1.5x over the past year.

Yet, PC gamers still aren’t ready. That’s because 4K gaming requires 4x the processing power of 1080p at 60 frames per second. Even our Pascal flagship GeForce GTX 1080 Ti can’t run the latest cinematic games at 4K 60 FPS.

That’s also why top gaming sites today recommend gamers think “GPU first” and, whatever their budget, allocate about 40 percent to the GPU. For a $2,500 4K rig, that’s a $1,000 investment, more than twice the CPU.

GeForce RTX 20-series are the first GPUs that will play AAA games at 4K 60 FPS HDR

So we can expect 2x performance (most likely compared to 1080) at 4K... laugh.gif

Can belip or not...

You want to know what has better shadows? Movies. They also run at 24fps and don't cost RM6k either.

Even 2nd hand 1080ti is around 2.8k. Too rich for my blood. Was thinking I should be waiting for benchmarks for the new series, but then SST also coming...pening pening

Just bought a used 1070. Will this gonna last me 2-3 years of usage? I don't know. I only play 1080p on a 60hz monitor.

Learned my lesson during the RX 480/Polaris hype train. Gonna wait for actual benchmarks before I make a purchase. biggrin.gif Ray-tracing sounds like a gimmick which you will eventually turn off like Gameworks.

Ray tracing in itself is NOT a gimmick. It is the future and it is extremely important to digital 3D content. However, that future is simply not here yet for the masses, not for the amount of money 99.9% of people are willing to shell out for that is.

just like tessellation ... it had alwasy been there in opengl and dx10 i think
but nvidia only supported it in dx11 with gtx480.. which sux bad.

only in gtx 7 series 1080p maxed out was possible
and then 9 series for 1440p and somewhat 4k
and da pascal dominated 1080p/1440p for high refresh rate gaming and somewhat 4k decent

so this rtx 20x0 seriously reminds me of gtx 480.. the fark u card.
