can android tv box fit in

sound processor unit?
like creative sound blaster or asus xonar?

media box is great because its cheap
and easy to use

definitely not for prosumer

old ppl tend to go less tech savvy stuff
no offence.
1st i m sorry if i use some harsh words
just mind boggling if sone1 paying premium price for entry level staff.

shield TV is highest end tv Box (1 of it)
but its price already touch much higher end solution

but i guess i maybe wrong
as many still paying Apple Macs for nearly 30% performance / dollar compare DIY setup.

tube only can run 32 bit apps (only if you run emulator or something, the rest should be ok) and cant serve as plex host.
pro like your 2015 but without that cons that i mentioned and with more ram and storage. i think got extra usb compared to tube too.

both can run ai upscaling.

Same as what others have recommended, go for the pro version if budget allows.

Honestly, the tube version is not even worth the money due the reduced specs especially the 32bit OS & 2GB ram.
I've read issues that it struggle to play high bitrate videos & will kill background apps even when temporary switching between apps.

Even now nvidia is having issue upgrading AI upscaling to 60fps, ram management optimization & probably will have difficulty in adding new features that require more resources on the tube version.
Hence why some apps especially games are not available for the tube version.

To those who have budget issue & planing to get tube model better get TiVO Streamer or wait for Google's own Android TV 'Sabrina' which may be announced next month.

Anyway, those who owns 2015/2017 Pro(500GB) & experiencing lags with app crashing better to clone the hdd to newer drive before it's too late. 😅

Hahahahahaha. So funny la seeing some 'technical' comments here. Sounds like people forgetting common sense after being too clouded with tech knowledge.

Android phone as box? Lol. Need to charge+HDMI output and do 8K? Rm800 phone ? RX580 alone is huge and pull so much power compared to Nvidia shield?

LOL

I had one 8K video - a documentary.

Basically I still find any device can playback smoothly. None of my device can playback smoothly or just simply crash or show not support. Haha!
  • Laptop iCore7, Nvidia 970M (5 years ago) - Very lagging
  • Apple TV 4K - Crash after few mins, not smooth also.
  • LG C9 TV - Show not support
  • Apple iPad Pro 2020 - Show not support

I haven't try my mobile POCO F2 PRO yet. Tonight try. Haha

Sounds like a good time to get upcoming Xbox SX or RTX3080 soon just to put inside media pc and cucuk to TV whistling.gif

On side note, even S905 variants now have AV1 decoding capabilities when at the same time nvidia releasing desktop GPU with AV1 hw decoder as well. Such amazing how small devices can be so efficient for media consumption. Portable and practical. Lagi2 those dongle type (tho they have few limitations due to its size and cooling capabilities)

ya man. my wife said my shield 2017 is sooooo much nicer in terms of usage compared to her mibox S. Generally both does the same thing (albeit shield has extras) but where it does the same thing, Shield just excels far and much more pleasant to use]

Btw anyone here using AMD GPU? I wonder how SteamLink or AMD Link performs compared to Nvidia Gamestream/Moonlight. Thinking of going to AMD GPU soon but still use Shield to stream games from PC

Any Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019 user/owner here? Need some help on testing the following scenario:
Running Netflix on browser. Yes, specifically browser (any) not the standalone app. If it works.

Thanks!

Firefox can open the netflix web site. I can login successfully.

But I can't play any video. I get an 'invalid url' error when I click on a movie.
