lol silly design by Nvidia wtf... can't they implement a normal on & off like so many other devices...

Not sure if it is because i have never off it for months, but turning the TV shield pro 2019 on doesn't instantly on the TV at the same time. Last time it took only a second for the TV to on after i press the Shield's power remote, but now there is a delay of more than 5-10 secs for the TV to on...

i think due its design to always ON. when turn off ( it will go to sleep, not shutting down, unless u click the shutdown menu)
mine never shut it down, always on 24/7. only when going out for holidays more than few days, then only i will shut it down.

i think most box behave like this.

There are many users would agree with u on the ON/OFF function & nvidia did respond to it with similar answer as per megahertz explanation, it was designed to be always ON for the plex server & smart functions.

There were complaints on the slow wake up issue on the forum & nvidia did respond on the matter by suggesting a complete power cycle for TV, Shield & AVR to reset hdmi cec connection.

Thanks for the info, by reset meaning unplug the power source for all the devices?

Yup, this will cause all device connected via HDMI to re-negotiate the handshake.
Do unplug for 10 to 15 second b4 replug in to power drain the devices.

not sure are u troll or really stupid. laugh.gif laugh.gif

android phone as box ?
- did u know android phone runnning normal android instead of NS running with android tv ? and most of the app streaming now support android tv, hence better user experience since u need control with ur phone. even if u do mirroring function, the quality is not good.
- did u know some of the app streaming got DRM? which u wil get limited function or not even 4k/full HD viewing. not mentioned about those HDR, vision, atmos. some of this u wont get this on ur phone.
- did u know, nvidia provide full support of the android tv even better than phone ? shield 2015 still fully supported by the nvidia to the latest android version.
- did u know, why we rather speed more money on this device rather follow ur idea ? because we want the best 4K media box can offer, best sound/visual experience the box can offer, the best user experience that we can get.

if u didnt know, then by all means, please ur phone as ur box, but dont call us stupid because it look like u make urself more stupid. laugh.gif laugh.gif

The biggest highlight for the Shield is Atmos on Netflix. Most android boxes does not have Netflix Atmos enabled app.

You do you bro. I also have a media server pc at home to host Plex and other services I use with a total of 9TB storage for my media. Maybe not as powerful as your server but I run it as a headless system.

My shield tv is for playback and streaming. it’s easy for my family to use.

My dad and his whole Home theatre gang after decades of using media server pc opt for media box as well. Once you have reached there you will understand. If you’re not there yet then you wouldn’t understand.

can android tv box fit in

sound processor unit?
like creative sound blaster or asus xonar?

media box is great because its cheap
and easy to use

definitely not for prosumer

old ppl tend to go less tech savvy stuff
no offence.

1st i m sorry if i use some harsh words
just mind boggling if sone1 paying premium price for entry level staff.

shield TV is highest end tv Box (1 of it)
but its price already touch much higher end solution

but i guess i maybe wrong
as many still paying Apple Macs for nearly 30% performance / dollar compare DIY setup.

Yes you are probably wrong. Value is not just about performance per dollar.

Huh? Why would they want to use a cheapo sound processor like Asus or Creative in a media box or even a media server pc?
No offence, but they use AVR system and their whole home theatre setup are in the 6 digits minimum. You might think old people are not tech savvy, but when it comes to Home theatre tech they are willing to break the bank for equipment that makes a bigger difference than a media server pc which ultimately functions the same as a media box.

we dont care about the money, as long it provide us the best user experience.
but now ur setup cost more than 'shitty' nvidia shield that provide more value/experience.

and u said "old ppl tend to go less tech savvy stuff"
but u as 'young people' want go for old tech, even so called ur media server also old tech. LOL
i cant brain bro. laugh.gif laugh.gif
