So happy with the new shield remote. It's much better than the old flat remote. Got it for rm200 from a local seller on shopee.

fuhhh niceeeeeee. If only i have more budget to justify that RM200 haha

After my shield remote kaput (cant pair anymore), I used Amazon's FireTV remote (RM18 on taobao) for like 4months, then now using G20 generic remote. Ok la got enough buttons, just the voice mic is hit and miss. Compact and decent. My wife say she still prefers Shield original remote miles ahead eventho it doesnt have air mouse function

Took me quite a while to decide to spend that RM200 ha ha.

Tried using a generic bluetooth remote for a while that my friend lent to me. Too many complaints from wife and son.

I still want a proper OFF button that completely switches off the Shield. Not put it to sleep...

I just transitioned to using my phone as remote. Interestingly my Panny TV remote has limited functions when using on the shield but enough to get around.

There are few ways to complete shutdown Shield TV:-
> If using Shield 2019 remote or any 3rd party remote with dedicated power button, then just long press power button for more than 8 seconds or until NSTV shutdown.
> Add the Shutdown shortcut to quick setting menu, so when you long press back button it will open the quick setting menu
> if the remote have menu button, it can be customized to add Shutdown command. *not so sure if nvidia have added the command

What is the function that your tv remote can't do except Air Mouse and what about your original Shield remote?
I have been using my Sony TV remote mostly to navigate and even able to access Home, Recents apps & etc shortcut via CEC.

Ori remote died a year ago.
I just use the nav, back and enter keys on the Panny remote. Most of the time, that's been enough. More than that I'll use the android Shield app.

After update Shield Experience 8.2.0, only after factory reset the box seems to be fine for me. Only setback, needs to re-install everything again :-(

Why you need to reset? I never reset the box even after 2 years. Still smooth.

Any 2019 shield owners tested the newly updated AI upscaling function for lower resolution (360p for example)?
really curious to see the results

I'm surprised such expensive box yet the remote died so fast compared to $300 box

Thanks, never knew about the 8sec long press. New problem is how to turn it back on after it is off? The only way that works is replugging the power chord ๐Ÿ˜…

Unfortunately, that is the only way to turn it ON after a complete power OFF. ๐Ÿ˜‚
To overcome that issue, u cn diy a new extension cable with in-line switch, add 2 flat pin female socket & place it somewhere accessible.

For my usage, i will juz leave it at standby once the main switch is turned on & will only power off at night or when goin out & nobody's at home.
The shield only use very minimum power during standby especially the newer shield 2019.

lol silly design by Nvidia wtf... can't they implement a normal on & off like so many other devices...

Not sure if it is because i have never off it for months, but turning the TV shield pro 2019 on doesn't instantly on the TV at the same time. Last time it took only a second for the TV to on after i press the Shield's power remote, but now there is a delay of more than 5-10 secs for the TV to on...
